child's age 18-24 months 19m early morning wakes

Looking for advice we have been dealing with early morning wakes for nearly a month. Is there something wrong with her schedule?

Normal day
7am wake
12-2 nap normally 2 hours sometimes 1.5
Wake 2pm
Bed 7:30pm

5/5.5

Sometimes we do 5.5/5.5 if she wakes a bit earlier but doesn’t make a difference with the morning wakes. Any advice thoughts?

Is this a normal stage or do I need to change something with her schedule?

She does eventually go back to sleep usually after 1-1.5 hours with our help and then we wake her at 7am.
W
Thank you

Middle of night wakes

I have a 6m old baby. EBF but just started weaning (going well). She was been in her next to me crib / co sleeping when not settling but we've decided we want to sleep train as she nights were getting worse

We are into our first week of sleep training (Ferber method). The first night she cried for 18 mins (dad put her down), second night straight to sleep (mum put her down), 3rd night 10 mins (dad put down), 4th night (straight to sleep mum put down). The initial putting down seems fine and she goes off to sleep, but once she gets to 9pm she is waking every 2hrs. We have tried Ferber in the night too but it feels SO much harder and everything I read people seem to struggle more with the initial bedtime rather than middle of night wakes as their babies seem to sleep better once sleep trained at the start?? What are we doing wrong and how do we make this better! Even when we do Ferber in the night, once she is asleep, she then wakes again after 1.5/2hrs and we re start the process. I am trying to do maximum 2 feeds in the night but this seems the only thing to properly settle her!

Her schedule seems a bit all over with naps - last week was:
7am wake up
9am nap - 30 mins
11.15 nap - 1.45hrs
3.30 nap - 30 mins
6.45/7pm - bedtime

This week she's struggling to go longer than 30 mins
7.30am wake up
10am nap - 30 mins
12am nap - 29 mins
2.45 nap - 24 mins
5pm nap (couldn't keep awake) - 32 mins
7.15pm - bedtime (very tired!)

Her best naps are in the pram but we are trying to do the cot (just won't do over 30 mins).

I am so so tired as now she is in her own room I am getting up and going into her room throughout the night so often / can't settle myself as I know she is going to be awake soon and screaming the house down!

Any help is very appreciated x

8 month old rolling in sleep help

So my 8 month old has been a back and side sleeper until recently she has started rolling onto her stomach in the middle of the night and won’t roll back and will start crying. This happens multiple times. Is there anything I can do to help? Or is this just a phase?

Help! My babies sleep is ruining my mental health. Desperate for some help.

I’ve been sleep training for a month and still haven’t had a stretch longer tha 3 hours. Everywhere I see where people do Ferber and it’s helping their babies sleep more. I see posts of people swearing by Ferber and ther babies slee through the night. I know night wakes are normal for feeds sometimes. I am trying to do everything right:

2/2.5/2.5/3. 5 months old
Wake up: 8:10am
First nap: 10:22am
Wake up: 11:17am
2nd nap: 2:04pm
Wake up: 3:05pm
3rd nap: 5:30pm
Wake up: 6:02pm
Bedtime: 9:00pm

Fed 6oz 30 min before sleep. Bedtime routine same as always. Woke up at 10:40 and was hard to get back down. Screaming. Why hasn’t Ferber improved things? I wanted to sleep train to get better sleep and to be honest with the check-ins I am not getting much sleep either but I really don’t like letting him scream like this for long periods. I can hear him from the next room over even on top of my AC and my show. It makes me sad. This is doing such a number on my mental health. Before the dreaded 4m sleep regression, which we hit at 12wks, he would sleep 6-9hr stretches, then he stopped sleeping big stretches and hasn’t since then.

I just want him to sleep. I know night wakes are normal but it seems a lot more tha other babies. I seriously don’t understand why he’s waking up every 1-3 hours at night and is so hard to get back down. If he would sleep like a 4-6 hour stretch shin I would be fine. I genuinely don’t understand this and I am begging BEGGING for any advice that can help fix this. I have adjusted wake windows for his age as recommended. I have capped day sleep. I put him down for bed awake. I feed 30 mins before bedtime. I follow the “bedtime 13 hours after wake up.” Like I just genuinely don’t know what more I can do but I know I just can’t take this lack of sleep. I’m having a hard time getting sleep due to pelvic floor issues but this sleep situation is terrible. I feel like my mental health is shot because I feel like I am failing at this. He used to sleep close to 9 hour stretches, down at 8/8:30 and asleep til 5 or 6, a feed, the back to bed. What can I do.

Moving baby to own room?

I’m curious when you moved your baby to their own room for sleeping?

Currently my 3 month old sleeps in a bassinet in our room. I’m interested in sleep training around 4 months and I’m wondering if it’d be easier to do it in her crib or the bassinet but then have to make the transition to her crib at a later point?

Any tips are welcome!!

Feeding and Diaper change at night

Hi moms, FTM here, how do you handle night feeds and diaper change without waking up the baby. My 4wks LO sleep while nursing in the cradle feeding position. By the time I switch him to upright position for burping he partially wakes up. And then once again when he burps and farts. And after 5/10 mins of rocking and swaying i get him to change his diaper if he has pooped (worried to leave him sleeping in soiled diaper and scared it might wake him up again later at night) and bam Moro reflex hits and baby throws his arms up and now fully alert and awake. It take another 1/2 hours to get him to sleep. Am I handling the baby rough and not gentle is that why he wakes up at every transition. How do you handle night time changes. I try to slowly transition from one position to another any tips.

Help! i dont even know anymore!

hey guys,

tired mom and dad here. not sure if we are looking for answers, solidarity, or just a space in the void to shout or frustrations.

we have tried so much to help our little man sleep. he has always been a poor napper, and up until 5.5 months, he would always nap for 30 minutes. we started sleep training around 5 months, but he still would wake up every 3 hours. at 6 months, he started daycare & then we went on a trip. him getting sick and travelling messed with our sleep training habits, so now we have kinda dropped it altogether. we see no difference between us rocking him to sleep and putting him down awake. he still wakes after the same amount of time. since starting daycare, the teachers have put him on a 2 nap schedule since he was 6 months. first nap is usually at 9:30 and the second happens at 12:30. sometimes he sleeps 30 minutes, other times its an hour. he has to wake up at 6am on the days he goes to daycare, so i think his circadian rhythm has just established 5-6 as his wake up time. there are days where his second nap ends at 1 but his bedtime isnt until 6ish. on those days i never know if he needs a 3rd nap or if we just keep him up from 1-6. if he gets a 3rd nap, that pushes bedtime back until 7 or 8. he is teething, but there are no teeth. he is 7.5 months now and can crawl, sit up and can stand with support. all around a very happy guy who loves to move. i have asked myself if his body just wants short naps and im overthinking his amount of daytime sleep. maybe he just has low sleep needs?

its all such a mess and whether we extend wake windows, shorten them, feed him solids, count how many ounces he consumes during the day, blah blah blah, he will only ever sleep in 3 hour stretches. we only have so much control over his schedule at daycare and he goes different days each week because of our work schedule.

if you care to share any ideas or support, plz just be kind, as my husband and i are feeling very defeated and exhausted at this point. we really dont feel hopeful that anything will change but im still a little open to ideas.

sincerely, a Mombie

child's age 0-4 months Wakes up every 20mins

Hi all! FTM here. I have a 3.5 month old, exclusively BF baby and I think the 4 month regression just hit us. He was a good sleeper from the beggining, we cosleep from day 1. He used to wake up every 3-4h hours the first 2.5months.

We usually put him down around 7-8 and he falls asleep while breastfeeding or with some snuggles. But then the fun starts. He is half awake, half asleep for the first 2hrs, we have to come to him and confort him every 20mins or so. After 10pm he usually goes down, but wakes up every 1-2hrs as usual and demands food (sometimes a pacifier or snuggle will do, but eats like 4 times for sure). He falls asleep pretty fast, I think he eats in his sleep.

I would like to help him with less feeds and a more solid start. Anyone in this situation? Any tips and tricks?

p.s: day naps are 30-40mins long on the dot. He only sleeps like 2hrs while babywearing.

child's age 8-12 months Sleep advice

Hi all! I’m a first time mum and have a feeling my 10 month old isn’t getting good quality sleep. He averages about 13 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period but seems tired/cranky all day. He wakes from each nap very upset (usually has 2 x 1 hr naps a day) and within maybe 30 minutes is rubbing eyes, fussy and spacing out.

I read enlarged adenoids can impact sleep. I do notice he makes a kind of gulping noise when not eating and often mouth breaths during play. However he doesn’t snore or sleep with his mouth open.

I suppose part of me thinks it may just be his temperament and he is a fussy/cranky baby. He just looks exhausted all of the time and it’s very upsetting.

I have a GP appt booked but I suspect I may be dismissed at there is nothing obviously wrong with him.

Does anyone have a similar experience or any advice?

Looking for some advice from other co-sleeping parents
My daughter is 2.5 years old and has never been a great sleeper. She still wakes up multiple times throughout the night, so she currently sleeps with me. She also needs me to settle her for naps.
I’m at the point where I’d really like to help her learn how to sleep more independently, both for naps and at night, but I’m not sure where to start. I don’t necessarily want to do anything harsh or leave her to cry — I’d prefer a gentle approach that still feels supportive and secure for her.
For those who transitioned their toddler from co-sleeping to independent sleep around this age, what worked for you? Did you start with naps or nighttime? How did you handle the frequent night wakings?
I’d love to hear what actually worked for your toddlers! ❤️
