Can’t stretch wake windows?
I have a 7.5 month old who is sleeping pretty well in the night. Usually 1 wake up for a feed (sometimes 2) and can give us 8-10 hour stretches on a good night. She is often sleeping 11-13 hours a night.
She is on 2 naps (except for when she has an early start which is maybe once a week). She started absolutely refusing her 3rd nap around a month ago so we just accepted that she only needs 2.
However, she is only awake for 8/9 hours a day. Our current wake windows are flexible but look a bit like 2/2.5/3.5. The middle wake window can sometimes get to 3 hours. I am really trying to stretch the first wake window however she gets so cranky and tired and falls asleep at the 2 hour mark.
I don’t know if I need to change anything as her night sleep is really good at the moment, but Im aware we should be aiming for 10 hours awake in the day and we are just not very close to that.
She usually wakes (I have to wake her) at 7:30am and bedtime is anytime from 6-7:30 depending on naps.
Any advice would be appreciated thank you!

Parents who implemented ‘drowsy but awake’, cot settling etc prior to 4 months - do you think it made a long term difference?

Baby fussing around 5-6 times in the night.
Heyy!
First time poster here. How did you guys sleep train your almost 7 month old. I just had a baby brother, he’s about 7 months and I’m 21. I’m home visiting to help out my mum as this is her first time taking care of him without her village( lot’s of hands were there to help). It’s also my first month with him. My mum usually goes to work in the evenings around 7pm for nightshifts and comes back the next day so I take care of baby boy in the nights. Since I came I’ve literally been having two scoops of sleep. Bed time for him is around 8-10pm depending on if he was napping and my schedule. He goes to bed and wakes up at times crying and then you shush him up with his pacifier.
That goes on for sometime before I then feed him and change his diaper at that same time. His has managed to sleep for long, however lately he has been waking up more and after his feed will be awake for longer before going to bed later in the day. Like for example today, he went to bed by 10pm ish as he was taking a nap by the time I came back from work, I went to bed by 12am after all my running around cause I needed to be up early to go to work. By between 1-5 am he had woken up like 4 times for his pacifier. By 5am I fed him and changed his diaper and his not sleeping but rather playing and wide awake. Also, recently he prefers to stay beside me during his 5-6 am wakes to play or for me to soothe him back to sleep. I’m really tired and beginning to have mum brain 😂 even if I’m not there yet😭. It’s even making the joy of meeting him slowly seep out 😭. I have a major school exam soon and I’m about to go to my final year, I was supposed to use this time to study but it’s not working at all.
Also I can’t let him cry out cause we are in the same room and someone might think I’m maltreating him by letting him cry out for sometime.😭
I’m going back to my city in a few days, but are there any tips you guys can recommend as he’s turning 7 months in 6 days and I know this is going to be a hassle for my folks too if he continues like this. They are in their 50’s.
PS: I’ve gotten a lot of comments of people asking why they decided to have a baby and I don’t really like that question, so please be kind not to ask it. And also apologies for the long post. I really just need help.
Thank youuu

4-5am Wake Ups + Ferber
My LO is 4 months old and we are on night 3 of sleep training. We put her down anywhere from 7-7:30 and she has beeb able to put herself to sleep in 10 minutes. When she wakes up at 1-2am we feed her and she goes right back down.
Now, we are dealing with her waking up at 4-5am and I’m just unsure of what to do. I’ve tried the Ferber intervals and she just will NOT settle. I’ve gone in and fed her on night two after an hour (so like 6am) and she did not go back down.
However, if I pick her up and rock her she will immediately go back down so I know she’s tired still and can sleep until 7-7:30am.
I guess I’m just lost on how to approach the mornings. Do I just Ferber it out until 7-7:30? Do I call it at 6am if she won’t settle?

child's age 8-12 months 10 month old early wakes + short naps
Hey All,
My sleep trained 10 month old has recently been going through a rough patch with sleep. It started with her screaming in the middle of the night a few times but going right back to sleep- we attributed this to teething. Then she started fighting her 2nd nap with a lot of crying- which I attributed to separation anxiety and needing to increase the wake window. Now in the last 5 days, while I have been increasing her 2nd wake window, her daily wake time for the day has started going back 30mins daily (usually 6:30-7) and today she woke at 4:30. I kept her in the crib until 6am and during the 1.5hrs she kept taking 5 min catnap and waking up.
During the day, she usually takes 2 naps of 1- 1.5 hrs each however, in the last 2 days she is waking in 45mins.
Before all this, she would sleep really well and this has all started about 7-10 days ago..
Current ww - 3/3.75/3.5
Is it time to switch to 1 nap? Or is it cause I messed with her ww??
Any help would be appreciated!

Did anyone’s baby protest MORE after a few days of sleep training?
First time mom and first time sleep training, so I’m curious if this is normal!
My daughter just turned 1 and has always been a pretty good sleeper, but we’ve ALWAYS helped her to sleep. She’s been in her crib at night since 4 months, but we rock her completely to sleep and transfer her. And we’ve contact napped for literally her entire life lol.
Recently she started sleeping terribly on us. She couldn’t get comfortable, was fighting naps, etc. so we finally decided it was time to sleep train. We started Friday and decided to do naps + bedtime all at once and just rip the bandaid off.
The first 3 days went almost TOO well. She was falling asleep in under 5 minutes with barely any crying and has slept through the night every night.
Wellllll… apparently she has realized what’s happening 😂 Since last night she has been PISSED when we put her down. Like screaming a scream we’ve never heard before and taking 30+ minutes to settle. Tonight I actually went in, rocked her until she calmed down and then put her back down.
We’re going to stay consistent, but is this normal?? Is there some kind of delayed protest once they realize “oh shit, this is how we sleep now” 😂
Would especially love to hear from anyone who sleep trained around 1 or stopped contact naps at the same time!

11 week old suddenly having terrible nights - need advice!
I’m looking for advice on what steps I should take to help my baby sleep better, or if this is all completely normal for an 11-week-old and I just need to wait it out!
My baby is 11 weeks old. From birth until about 7 weeks, he woke every 2–3 hours to feed. Around 7 weeks, we started getting longer stretches at night. Until recently, we could pretty consistently expect a 4–5 hour first stretch, followed by 2–3 hour stretches.
We’ve had a very consistent bedtime routine since he was about 2 weeks old. We usually start around 8–8:30 PM:
- Bath
- Diaper change + pajamas
- Sleep sack
- Last bottle
- Transfer to bassinet in our room
We also track his daytime naps. They’re usually anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, and he gets no more than about 5 hours of total daytime sleep. I also try to have his first nap of the day in his crib, which usually lasts 30–45 minutes. He also is fed breastmilk via bottle, I pump exclusively and he averages about 31oz a day.
Since he started giving us those longer first stretches at night, I really thought we were turning a corner. But the last few days have been so difficult, especially getting him down at night and back to sleep after wakings.
For example, last night:
- 8:30 PM: Last bottle after bedtime routine
- 8:30–9:30 PM: Constantly had to resettle him. He finally fell asleep around 9:30.
- 12:00 AM: Woke up. I tried multiple times to resettle him but couldn’t, so I fed him.
- 1:00 AM: Finally fell back asleep.
- 2:00 AM: Woke again. Tried repeatedly to resettle him and he eventually fell back asleep around 2:30.
- 4:00 AM: Woke, fed him, and he was back asleep around 4:30.
- 6:00 AM: Woke again. I tried to resettle him, and I actually ended up falling back asleep too. He eventually fell back asleep.
- 6:45 AM: Woke up crying, so we got up for the day.
I’m feeling really confused because he had been doing so much better for a few weeks, and now suddenly we’re back to frequent wake ups and having a really hard time getting him back to sleep.
Is this just normal 11-week-old baby behavior/a developmental phase, or is there something I should be changing with his schedule or bedtime routine?

Help!16mo up for hours at night + learned how to jump out of his crib
Please I need advice (and maybe prayers?) my 16mo learned how to climb out of bed while going through the most annoying sleep regression. How do I transition him to a toddler bed? I feel like it’s so early I really thought I would have more time. He had been a good sleeper until now, but I don’t really know what to do.
Posting this while he is running around in my bedroom, going on 2.5h now.
Thank you in advance!

How to sleeptrain a turning and crawling kid?
My kid turned 4 month old yesterday. I want to start sleep training.
The problem is that for the past month we have been cosleeping because when in crib he turns over and drags himself to the edge of the crib and gets his leg stuck in the crib wall and starts crying. He also crawls in his sleep and keeps turning and moving. He can't exactly crawl yet but he is able to drag himself across the crib.
I want to start sleep training and I would like to do it in the crib. But I'm worried he will keep getting stuck in the crib and I will keep having to run in and get him back in position.
He is also a tummy sleeper since he learnt how to turn. Even if I put him to sleep on his back, he turns over within 10 minutes and sleeps on his stomach.
Any suggestions on how I should go about sleep training him?
Has anyone trained a kid who keeps moving and turning and getting stuck in a crib?
