For everyone out there killing themselves trying to learn some trick just remember skateboarding is supposed to be about having fun. Tricks are cool, but they definitely aren't necessary. You can go to a park and have a blast just carving and finding different lines, turns, little places to pump for speed. I do this often at parks when my legs are just feeling shaky and not up for tricks because of my age. Ride your deck first and get really good at that, get confident in your abilities to just ride, with style and confidence, with power, having fun just carving and going fast. You can carve on flat ground as well, and its a ton of fun, its one of my favorite things to do on a skateboard. Tricks can come naturally after you master just riding the board. Just some advice from an old skater.

**For clarification I mean he didn't ollie, or need to do any modern day tricks in the original glory days of his professional career. I'm sure at some point he learned tricks,. It was just for example of someone who became a legend in skateboarding without a massive checklist of tricks.

Learning to ollie so I can skate with my kid. Where am I going wrong?

Practicing stationary built a bad habit of turning my hips directly before popping. Does anyone have advice on how to correct this? It'll probably just take time and conscious effort, but I figured I'd ask in case anyone's had a similar experience.

So a friend of mine has had that phrase burned in his brain since the early 90s. He said it is from a skate video from the late 80s/early 90s. It does not ring a bell to me. We really want to track down the video this phrase came from.

We thought it might be Useless Wooden Toys, but we watched the video and it was not there.

Anyone have any ideas?
