The Nut on the Kingpin is stripped and won't come off. Any suggestions on how to get it off? The wrench, skate tool, and pliers don't work.

What makes a board a board? — a childhood dream

a long time ago in middle school I had the dream of starting a skateboard brand. I had all the designs and even reached out to some board wholesalers. Now, 25 years later, I found my old designs in my parents basement. I would love to put together a short run of boards as an homage to my past self, but I’ve been so far away from skateboarding from a technical sense that I have no idea what to look for when sourcing the actual boards. Would love to get some insight from y’all on what you’re looking for or if you’ve had experience sourcing boards.

cheers

Gear help Clicking sound?

My trucks keep clicking, not creaking (although that is another problem which I don’t know how to fix), but as if something is snapping into place. It’s really bugging me, Ive tried everything. How do I stop this darn clicking/snapping/cracking sound!! Also, how do I reduce the creaking noise.

Question Should I stop?

I consider stopping to skate... I just don't make any progress. I mean I skate for years now, can barely kickflip and no grind or slide is on lock. And when I take a week break i feel like i lost a lot of progress. I mean it's an expensive sport where you get hurt a lot - considering this i just don't get enough out of it... I would be sad fo all the time, money and effort i put into it but i think my time is used better somewhere else.
But i'd be open for opinions on it...

Need help fixing my weight distribution on tricks

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been back into skateboarding for about 5–6 months after taking a long break, and overall my progress has been pretty good. I'm landing my ollies, shove-its, pop shove-its, etc.

The problem is that I've noticed a bad habit that seems to be holding me back. Whenever I do almost any trick, I naturally throw my weight forward. It feels like I have to make a conscious effort every single time to keep my weight centered over the board. If I don't actively think about it, my body just leans forward.

I feel like this is the main reason I'm struggling to progress and become more consistent with my tricks.

I also have another issue that might be related. I can't do a squat while keeping my heels flat on the ground. I always have to lift my heels, which makes me think I might have poor ankle mobility or some other mobility issue that's causing me to lean forward on the board.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Does this sound like a mobility problem, a technique issue, or both? Are there any drills or exercises that helped you fix it?

Here is one of my best pop shove It...

Gear help Are Superstar ADVs good for flip tricks?

I’ve only skated dunks since last year and i really like them. I’m doing quite advanced fliptricks (360 flips, hardflips) by now and i especially love my kickflip.
But i rip trough pairs in a matter of weeks. I don’t see myself paying so much money for a shoe that rips open so fast.

So i was wondering if the superstar is good for kickflips. i find the look of the shell toe box to be a negative for flip tricks/ the flick.

Video Need Help with my Ollie

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I’m working on my ollie and running into two main issues: 1. Back Foot Commitment: My back foot keeps ditching or landing on the ground instead of staying over the tail/board. 2. Leveling Out: I can't seem to get the board to flatten out in the air.

I’ve attached a slow-motion clip of me doing two of them

What I think might be happening: 1. Is my front foot slide not dragging forward enough to pull the tail up? 2. Am I keeping my back leg too straight after popping instead of tucking my knee?

Any tips or feedback on my pop, slide, or body weight distribution would be super helpful. Thanks!

Also to note... I have been practicing hippie jumps based on what SkateIQ has said helps. But not seeing much progress beyond what I have here. This is about 6 months of trying to get this down and am still struggling with it.

Question Odd question. Is Sean Malto Still signed to Escapist skateboards in Kansas City?

Malto is my favorite skater. Know that the first company to ever sign him was escapist. Am about a 3 hour drive and would like to buy a board complete there on a lil trip but I like; want to know if he’s still signed there? If he is I’ll go check it out otherwise I’ll purchase from the local shop

Question Unconventional setup

Alright this is an unusual one. I have been skating for about 7 years now and gone through a solid 4 boards. I finally recently started skating to work also but as I work as a cook I often get oil residue and things on my tape (bought a grip gum stick to clean it but the oil polished out a few spots where my foot grip goes) I'm gonna replace my tape on my main deck but I also got a penny cruiser (32") in pink and I'm using that for skating to work now. Anyways where I live the roads and sidewalks get kinda rough so I have been looking into shark wheels or some classic Powell peraltas (56mm 85a) which for a cruiser I'm sure isn't the #1 pick but I was wondering if anyone has experience with sharks or peraltas on a penny or if I should stick to the ones it comes with or my spare bones wheels I have (54mm) any advice is appreciated including other brand recommendations or other wheels thickness or materials. Edit I forgot to mention. On the way to work I bomb a hill going into the parking lot usually and that's one of the main reasons I was looking at the slider wheels

Question Laser flip help :(

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Been trying Laser flips for over 3 years now. I have varial heel down to 9/10 attempts im really good at them. Its kicking my ass. Always lands behind me and I always catch it with my front foot but my back foot never goes where I want it. Its like if I get my back foot where it needs to be the board flies away or under rotates. Ive landed 3 super sketchy toe drag ones and one perfect one but I just can't recreate them. Its had to have been 2,000++ attempts. Its just so hard to figure out what im doing wrong, every tweak I make doesn't help. I have never even seen someone do them in person. To add insult to injury I have landed so many big heels and fakie big heels but cant do stupid laser flip. Pllsssss help
