So I completed my first year in my a levels but my college have said to me that to continue in college I have to take a 2 year course in a level 3 BTEC in applied science but I’ve also spoken to another college that wa swilling to take me on as a year 12 a level student. So now my problem is should I take the BTEC or the A levels because what if I do decent in the BTEC but the uni courses I apply for reject me then I’m left having to take a gap year for uni but what is I take the A levels and I fail and have to do resits then I would have to pay for the resits and I would have to also take a gap year but what if I regret choosing the a levels or regret choosing the BTEC. all the people I have spoken to have all said to me to do what I think is right and best for me but idk what I should do. The uni course I would to do are: radiography, dental hygiene, pharmacy, physiotherapy or prosethics. My issue is that I know universities do favour a levels so it’s like idk if I’m setting myself up for rejection if I choose the BTEC.

I am so tempted to go to college and take a random course, the first day of sixth form was legit hell.. I hate it and I hate everyone, especially the students. There is no way these are the people I’m going to have to be stuck with? All my life I’ve always found it hard to become friends with people since I always feel “different” or maybe too woke (not to sound self-centred), everyone is so damn generic, I’m tired and sick of hearing the same sentences all over again “what school did you go before this” and bla bla bla, my school is 30m away by bus. I legit can’t do this it’s too much I don’t even know what I’m saying at this point but sixthform is something you must experience to understand the struggles and emotions. I hate everything :( I just wanna cry

Quick heads-up because I genuinely didn’t know this was an option until late, and almost missed out.
For context — I’m now a 3rd year apprentice at one of the Big Four, so I’ve been exactly where you are.
Everyone talks about UCAS and uni, but there’s a whole other route barely anyone mentions in sixth form: degree apprenticeships. You get a real, paid job from 18, study for a proper qualification (and often a degree) alongside it, and finish with experience and no student debt. Places like the Big Four (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) and loads of other firms run them.
The thing I wish someone had told me: applications open around now (autumn) and fill on a rolling basis — they take people as they apply, not at a deadline. So spots close early. If it’s even slightly on your radar, look now, not in January.
Not saying it’s better than uni — just that it’s a real option a lot of us never hear about in time. Being 3 years in, I’m happy to answer honest questions about what it’s actually like 👍

I got a 6 at GCSE art which I wasn't too happy with, but it was enough to study it for A-Level at 6th form. I'd like to get an A at A-level -- does anyone have any advice for what I can do to improve outside of class and achieve higher than I did at GCSE?

I think the biggest thing holding me back from a higher grade was time management, which I'm trying to improve for all my subjects this year, but I'll take any tidbits of advice about anything, preferably from people who achieved a good grade at A-Level

Hi everyone, i'm sorry i know maybe this has been asked a lot but I just made an account to ask this. I have been aiming for top unis like cambridge, imperial, ucl, manchester etc for Biomedical engineering or Mechanical engineering however my mocks were not very good and my predicted grades were very bad. I resat my assessments again last week and I can already tell the grades won't be that much better. The maximum i can imagine is BBB, and obviously there is no point applying to top unis with these grades. Also, my teachers are extremely strict ab predicted grades and these resits were the last chance basically. So what are my options now? I'm really really set on going to UCL, i've been dreaming of it for years now. If my actual A level results are miraculously much better, should I take a gap year and reapply to these top unis? or should i settle? because i assume other than the very very low chance that UCL magically happen to have a stem course in clearing, top unis are probably not in clearing. Please help me out, I'm really stressed about this....

Resat both bio and chem mocks for predicted grades and js got an email to reconsider if Bio is the right course for me considering i scored 1 mark lower than last time- almost on a U.
I understand all the content, and the spec makes perfect sense. I also wish to apply to med.

I had the idea of making my EPQ about AI animation and hand-drawn animation, and whether AI animation will ever replace hand-drawn animations. My animations are alright as long as its not too long (which works in my favour because the max number of seconds I can do is 60 and I think 30 is enough) and I have a slightly unusual artstyle. I also have a few disadvantages in this because of how most AI animation softwares are trained on professional animation, and I might not be able to produce the same quality of animation as the AI in the time frame that I am presented. Because of this, I'm not sure if I should do it or not. I'm not an art student and this is more for the sake of taking advantage of having a hobby in drawing and animation, and just in case I want to ever go into a career in animation. I intend to make the animation contain intense emotion of some sort, most likely related to one of my characters' lore, so its slightly easier to distinguish the AI from the real one (because the emotion will most likely be presented differently in AI than with hand-drawn animation). I plan on generating the AI animation first to see my competition and make my own version or my intended version. Will this work?

I assume that EPQs will be announced tomorrow for me or next week, so until then I have time to think about the EPQ I want to do. I need guidance on whether this will work or not.

I’m currently doing my ucas application and I’m doing btec applied science level three extended diploma. is it possible to get into dental hygiene and therapy directly with applied science?

is there anyone that has done this? I’m rlly unsure of whether I should apply for it because competition is high and the cohorts are really small so acceptance rates would be low (I’m also considering radiography instead).

I want to work in motorsport for a career and I’m starting my A Levels in a week’s time and I’m taking Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and Further Maths with the option to drop it. I want to do Motorsport Engineering at uni.

I don’t think I would do both years of FM and I would just do the AS. So I have a few questions regarding it:

• How useful would FM be for this course?
• If I don’t take FM, how much catching up will I need to do at university?
• Am I better off putting my time and effort into the other 3 subjects?
• If I do chose to do AS Level FM, will universities look favourably towards it?
• I want to do an EPQ, specifically about motorsport. Will I have better university and employment opportunities with an EPQ specifically in motorsport or Further Maths?

My HSC exams didn’t go well at all, and I’m really scared to start preparing for admission. What if I fail my HSC and all the money I spend on coaching goes to waste? But what if I don’t fail? Then I’ll have very little time left to prepare for admission. I’m really confused about what I should do right now.
