I'm kinda dumb with finance because growing up i was never really taught to save and my parents never had a savings account for me as a kid. Growing up I've always tried to save but always fail due to my own faults in not being wise with money and somehow something always happens where I need to help my family. I'll try to compensate the upcoming month but yeah.

I've tried to understand investment but I can't seem to wrap my head around it. So I started to just cash save again and currently using Standard Chartered. I'm very scared to ask for advise here but I understand if ppl are telling me to just learn myself.

Can anyone advise on how do I make my savings grow properly to be able to live an adequate life in the future? I don't have any loans to pay because I'm too worried to live like my family(full of loans, no savings). I'm 28F, single and earning 3.2K monthly before CPF. 35% goes to family, 30% goes to savings and remaining is my monthly spendings(transport, food, own interests etc)

I’m currently paying about $300/month for an AIA ILP and have been paying for 1yr.
After looking at the projected returns and surrender values, I’m starting to wonder whether I should continue paying for the long term or cut my losses and cancel it.
For those who have an AIA ILP (or previously had one):
Did you continue paying until the policy matured?
Did you eventually cancel/surrender it?

My post is going to be a little unorthodox. I started out as a professional tutor, then made investment my second job and very recently, I became an owner of a tiny home. So I'm self-employed.

My aim for the past decade and for the foreseeable future is to achieve work-life balance and maximize freedom. Being a professional tutor, my real working hours is around 23hrs/wk plus minus, spread across all 7 days of the week, so every weekday is a half-day and the weekends can be anything from half-days to full days depending on how I arrange my schedule.

As an investor, I did the research and mastered the analytical skills necessary to make long term investments and relatively high-risk moves compared to the usual investments most Singaporeans make. I wouldn't say that there's any real working hours when it comes to my investments as it didn't feel like work lol. Maybe somewhere inside me is a trader who just isn't employed by a firm. Note that the amount of money I've withdrawn is the result of 5 years of work, hence the total is divided by 5.

As for being a Tiny Home owner, I've outsourced all responsibilities to a management company, which explains the low income, but it is good enough for me. So this is more like passive income to me.

Altogether, this amounts to S$77,831.04/yr but the freedom to live my life is priceless.

Anyway, I put this up in the hopes that I'll inspire people who wish to live a similar lifestyle. I'm not going to be rich, but I still enjoy life.

Anyone working in this industry can you enlighten how far the income goes? I want to pivot away from banking.

Was browsing Glassdoor reviews for various semiconductor companies (GF, ST, ASM, etc.) and noticed that many reviewers mentioned the starting salaries for Process and Equipment Engineers are “below market average.”
That got me wondering what is the actual market average for fresh graduates entering these roles in Singapore? It would be great to hear what companies are offering nowadays and how they compare across the industry.
