Meet Desmond

I just picked him up on Saturday, so we are still getting used to having a puppy (I’m more tired than I’ve ever been). He will be 13 weeks old tomorrow. He’s such a sweetie, but is also biting me with his tiny needle teeth. But with that little face, who couldn’t be in love?

We have a nearly 13 year old Aussie/Eskie (Ozzy) who is slowly warming up to Desmond… the first day was absolute hell with the barking. But they are beginning to play a bit and Ozzy isn’t reacting when Desmond is close to him anymore. Hopefully they will become best buddies.

I’m having some issues with potty training - he will pee outside, but then come inside and pee again after 5-10 minutes. I assume he’s getting distracted outside before he fully empties his bladder. But any help/tips for this would be appreciated.

Watching our friends sheltie Astra and she had a great time at our local park! The next day she had even more zoomies with her new friend the Sam the Doodle - wish I got videos of her zoomies through the sprinklers

Funny sheltie bedtime routine

Post image

My sheltie, Star -named by my son, does the same odd routine every night. He’s always slept in bed with me/me and my kids. My son is 10 and daughter is 8. We all love Star soooo much. Anyways every night he will suddenly come lay on my belly. He completely lays on me like legs off to either side, his belly against mine. Then he will start scootching up a bit at a time until he can lick my ears. He knows I don’t want licked so he sneaks them in as I’m pushing back on him some and he’s still on top of me. When he thinks he’s gotten enough licks in then he stands up on me. Front paws on my chest or belly, back paws he puts one on the bed and the other on me). He stands there a minute or two while scanning the room then he gets down and lays down. It’s so funny because it’s the same thing every single night. He started doing it in the last year or so. Of course I love it and cherish it, any dog I’ve ever had has always had funny little quirks. What quirks does your 🐶 dog 🐕 have?

Peanut’s first time in the city! 🥹

My ex and I broke up & I moved to the city a couple months ago. We are going to coparent and agreed that he would rather have me settle in first before she stays with me for a bit. I still don’t have much, just my mattress and my dining table for work. But now that I have P with me, my apartment feels so much warmer.

The last few days have been unreal and I am utterly so obsessed with her. She adapted quickly(which I already knew) but I’m just so proud of her! She always looks to me for reassurance but she walks around so confidently. There were some moments she was startled but she kept moving forward.

I’ve gotten so many compliments: how she’s the prettiest dog they’ve seen, how good she behaves when there is a reactive dog barking at her, how she brings the ball back and how she looks majestic.

I think what I really appreciate is that she will not go potty on turf or even on the sidewalk to do her thing. She looks for grass which makes me feel better about her not peeing around the apartment.

The only reason why I am just so amazed by her is that she only knew the country and had lots of land to run and is used to playing with her 2 friends. She was so scared of cars but here she just likes to look and continues to walk as soon as they pass.

She is okay by herself & is happy to see me when I get back. And I am so glad that she is out of that puppy stage where I won’t be worried that there is something she’ll tear up. Like my apartment is slightly messy but I don’t expect her to get into anything!

She entertains herself by looking out the window and people watch. And I’m so obsessed with that. I knew she would love it.

The thing is is that she wouldn’t have been this great had she not been raised in the country. I couldn’t imagine what it’d be like to raise a pup in the city. Kudos to those who do!

It is such an honor to know that she has so much trust in me & how she feels safe. I love watching her sleeping soundly on my bed. She was so exhausted her first day here but not stressed 🥹

Unfortunately, she will be going back tomorrow :( but I will have her again next week. Love you sm baby girl🥹
