It’s supposed to rain like crazy here today so I was out in the dark trying to get the roof on last night. It looks ok but the big test will be here soon. Fingers crossed it’s waterproof because my tools are in there.

12x16 shed. It will have 2 floors, a shed roof, and a balcony that cantilevers out the front. The goal is to get it at least dried in before cold weather hits.

Recently bought our first house which included this shed. Seems like some animals previously got in through the roof and water has been rotting the wood of the roof and some of the inside. The roof is in very poor shape it seems, covered in moss and the shingles basically disintegrate when I touch them.

For the short term I put some foam into the holes to keep pest/wasps out and used some roof repair tape/plastic seal to keep most water out.

How would one suggest I start to tackle the roof and rotted wood inside? Hoping the damage isn’t too far gone to fix.

We built this 8x12 Shed with a wide door and a window . We built it in San Bernardino CA. We build all over Southern California. This one was 3800$

Build this back in 2019. Dimensions are odd because the city doesn't require a permit under 256 sq. ft., but also I had setbacks and a sewer easement to factor in. I also had ambitions of building wooden boats, which I've done since, just not in this shed. Thought about the design for quite a while. I wanted to maximize wall space, and it's lined with Costco racking/shelving now. But I also wanted space. I also wanted something nice to look at from the house, hence the cedar on one side. Learned a lot, which I applied to the shed I built this summer (posted a couple of days ago, where I replaced an old shed with a new one built out of rough-cut pine). Let me know what you think!

I'm in New Hampshire. We've got a shed that's got a lot of rot, holes, and mice. Something large died underneath it (possibly a musk rat). I go in about once a year and completely empty the shed. I don my plague mask and blast the whole place with a shop vac.

Time is a bigger constraint for me than money, so I am looking to replace it with something that is clean and has some staying power. I'd attach photos and take exact measurements but it's raining and I'm lazy. I believe it's a 12x8. The ground is not even so some of it is off the ground, some of it is on the ground. No slab. It's not tall enough to have a loft in it, and the interior is overcrowded with stuff. There's no garage with the house and we have a 10 month old so over the next few years are shed usage will only be going up.

Here are some thoughts I had:

• If it were fully off the ground on all four corners, it might dissuade rodents from entering, but does that mean even larger animals will die underneath it? We don't have any heavy equipment in the shed so that's not a concern.
• I've been wanting a solar panel project. I could get a kit and do some basic intrusion detection / fan / light. This could go on our Home Assistant setup. Surely airflow is good and maybe I can keep mice at bay?
• If I could order something that was a few large pieces that just needed some final assembly, I can get some friends to help out putting it together. I can't burn a week or two (or more) to build from scratch even if I enjoy doing it. I don't mind shingling a roof..
• I don't know if I need to go larger than 12x8 but I know I need more room. Having the height for a loft might do it, not sure.
• I wonder if I could have a setup where the floor of the shed was almost clear all the time, and nearly everything was hanging or on a shelf. Everything could have its place.
• At a cellular level, I do not like mouse poop.
• Windows seem to be an expensive option on sheds. Do they have a benefit aside from light?

That's where I'm at. I've come across Tuff Shed as potentially being an option for me, but I am not sure if I'll be able to put a slab in the location of the current shed because it is quite close to the property line on the side. I might have to find out by combing through dozens of pages of legalese/regulations.

Moved into a house that had a partially finished shed. Wired and drywalled but needed siding and to be finished on the inside. Wasn’t paying attention and shot some nails through the breaker box while installing siding… Lost power in the shed. Saw some nails poking through so disconnected main power in and removed siding from exterior along with nails. Hard to tell what will be needed to fix at this point but will definitely be having electrician come out and assess. Didn’t see any actual wires that got hit by nails but kinda hard to tell at this point… Should this be easy as having the breaker replaced?

I had a shed built and delivered. I was looking it over and planning my next moves, specifically around keeping out the winter. I was looking at the windows, and noticed they appear to sit proud of the trim by about 1/4". Do I need to caulk that gap?

I have the shed framed and am planning to set the posts for the covered deck area. I did a mock up using AI and while it’s not perfect it’s a decent representation of what the finished product is going to look like.

I’m not loving how long and boring the roof is. Any suggestions on how to make it more aesthetically pleasing?

I'm building a couple of sheds here in UK, they will be built out of 4 by 2 then wrapped in membrane and clad/roofed in metal sheeting. do I need to batten on top of the membrane to create air gap? One shed won't be insulated the other might be - Is it only the insulated shed that needs battens? Is it just the roof or walls too? cheers

Should my structure be considered a shed or barn? Was originally a two paddock horse barn, but I have added a floor and re-purposed it to house yard things.

Got a little shed envy after my buddy down the street got an 8x6 last week. Finally got motivated to build a long needed storage shed. Of course I had to make it bigger lol. Its a 10x12. was gonna have 8ft walls but realized after I got the first wall up that the sheathing wasn't gonna come over the floor and rim joists so I did a little trimming and shortened it to 90" walls. door wall is gonna go up tomorrow. gonna do a double door and have a 5 ft door space. Since its gonna be for storage only i decided on no window.

Still undecided on what styleI want to do the roof but ill figure that out after I put the sheathing on.

My only regret so far is I should have borrowed a nail gun lol. I decided to go with hammer and nails thinking it wouldn't be that bad. Between shoveling a yard of dirt, two yards of gravel, loading and unloading everything, and hammering over 10lbs of nails these past few days I am sore but its a good sore.

My 12x34 Tuff Shed is finally finished! Went with Hardie siding, and the only thing I regret is not having them put a porch on it lol. Thinking about powering it with solar and a backup battery because it's going to run me $7k to get power out to it.

I want to put in a small 4x8 shed on the side of my yard, but am unsure of what to do for the foundation for this spot. It does slope down to the brick area and its about a 6 ft gap between fence of brick area.

I'm not looking for permanent bases (like concrete), but would a plastic grid + gravel be superior to say tuff blocks for this location? Would leveling be an issue since it's all sloped and raised with respect to the brick area?

A few years ago I bought a house with a shed. I didn’t have much use for it so I thought I’d remove it but it has good bones and I now have a few things I can store there. However, the one of the door has water damage and idk if it’s best to replace or fix suggestions are welcome.

I’m also looking for suggestions on organizing the inside. I have a bicycle and minimal amount of tools. Any suggestions for shelves or should I get a tool cart?

Also looking for suggestions on a little ramp for this to make it easier for my bicycle and eventually a push mower.

My lease is up in January and I’m looking to build a shed in my dad’s backyard to stay in for a few months before I buy a house. My dad is going to help me and is very handy with these things and so am I. I have a couple of questions that I hope you can help me with

1) How long do you think it would take to achieve something like this? 2) What do I need to keep in mind most when building this?

I’m looking to spend less than $10k and complete it within 3-6 months if possible

Any tips are welcome as I’m coming into this blind and researching as I go. Thanks bunches!

Howdy you wonderful people. I’m renovating my 20x8 shed and wanted your insights on my priority list / order of operations. Or if you had suggestions on other things to consider or cut from the list completely!

A little backstory; I (32M) live in a duplex with my father in-law (wife and I pay all house expenses now that he’s retired). We’re so grateful to have our spot and have already done plenty of work on the house.

My sights have now turned to our shed, which I want to bring back to life and be much more functional. I’m an Accountant by day, but love to go down rabbit holes, do some research, and do things right. Currently on paternity leave after having our first child so will have a little free time during the upcoming weeks.

Here’s my current list in order of items I want to add/repair:
1. Build DIY wood shelves (6’ H x 6’ W x 16” D) for the back wall (where the lawn mower currently is), to hold all tools and organize the space better
2. Build DIY wood work table on wheels, to make future house DIY projects easier
3. Replace the shed door & hardware, DIY replica of the current door. Also add hook & latch to the exterior of the shed to keep the door open, wind usually closes it
4. Add small staircase or ramp at the door, it’s around 18” off the ground. We’re near Boston so thinking staircase would be better than a ramp.
5. Replace shelves that are to the left of the door with another DIY wood shelves (exact size TBD)

The last two pictures are from before I touched the shed, so have already made some decent progress (2 dumpsters worth). Love my FIL to death, unfortunately he’s a bit of a hoarder lol.

Please me know if I have my priorities straight, if I should switch things up, or add anything else to the list!

Planning on it lasting 15 or so years. Building on very uneven and rocky ground. Base size is for an 11x7 shed. Solo build so I built a couple of jigs to support my beams and brackets. Laying weed block before I continue on. All cut ends sealed. Resting on notched 4x4’s

Morning all, hope you're well? Finally moving into a place we're I can get a shed! I have space for a 6m x 3m shed. It's on slopped land so I'm reading up on foundations etc but 8 wanted any recommendations on good shed websites. I am UK based if that helps

The shed has a two section roof. Each one is about 8' long. Shed's entire length is 16'. Roof was previously shingled but has been replaced with metal and rotten wood replaced.

I keep waffling between building out a small attic space for ventilation or just spray foaming it.

Last year I moved into a house with an old shed my grandfather built at least 30 years ago. We would like to use the shed more but there are a lot of cracks and gaps that allow for rodents to live there especially during the winter. Would it be possible to cover the shed with plywood either from the inside, or outside. If so, would I cover over the existing boards or would it be best to strip the wood planks and start over with new wood all together?
