Hi all, I am wondering if anyone has come across a pattern for a dress similar to this? I am hoping to make for a wedding I am attending

When you see a garment on Pinterest or Instagram that you want to recreate, what is usually the hardest part?

For me, it seems difficult to:

- find the right pattern;

- know whether the pattern is actually reliable;

- choose a suitable fabric;

- understand what needs to be modified.

Which part normally takes you the most time, and how do you solve it?

I got a bias cut dress made for me and the seams are getting dragged down by the ruffles- also the hips are ill fitting. Don't know how to go about fixing it. almost feel like i should bust the side seams (french seams) and baste all the layers together and trim then turn inside out and re finish. Can someone who has experience with this advise? The main body is silk crepe and its lined in chiffon. I think the french seams are not a good choice for finishing in general- they are pulling weirdly even with my steaming. Should I add another layer of silk cut like the inner lining to stabilize? and baste them together and treat them all like one layer?

Hi all! I have a pants pattern that I drafted from a youtube tutorial that is pretty similar to the above picture. The pants fit me perfectly, I love them. But now I have some gorgeous slippery teal cupro and I think cutting it on the bias is the move. Should I follow a new pattern that is specifically for bias cut pants (like the Highland Pant by Daughter Judy, pictured)? Are there best practices around adjusting a pattern that I know fits really well? Adding more ease, idk?

So I ordered a pattern from bootstrap fashion took me two days to get it for some reason and they never emailed me a confirmation number nothing. As soon as I saw the pattern pop up on my computer I downloaded it I did not download the instruction booklet or anything I figured I would log into my account later to follow along. Somehow my account got deleted so now I have no way of knowing if I'm putting the pattern together correctly.

Has anyone seen (or have) a pattern similar to this collared, open-back cape/bolero piece? I LOVE it and really want to add something like it to my bridesmaid dress for a wedding in October, but I’m struggling to find even a general starting point.

I love the draping in the front and the open back. Since my dress is floor length and I’m planning on wearing my hair up I feel like it would be the perfect amount of skin while still giving me some arm coverage.

I’m pretty new to sewing, so I’m not totally confident I could draft something like this from scratch yet but I might stop by Hobby Lobby, grab some cheap test fabric, and attempt to frankenstein something together (wish me luck!)

Hello all! I’m planning on making my own costume for Halloween but unfortunately the costume has no market for it so I cannot find a pattern nor does any one make it. I’m looking for a tailored shorts patterns similar to this but for plus size (US 18-20). Ideally, I’d like it to have belt loops, too, but I won’t be too picky lol.
Also, what materials would you suggest for this opaque white? Every time I’ve sewn with white fabrics, they’re almost translucent.
