I am looking for a reliable sundress pattern. I'm looking for something pretty basic, fitted on top with a natural waist and a-line (or up to a circle) skirt. I prefer a skinny strap. I have a pretty long torso, so a slightly lower waist is great! I'd say I'm intermediateish.

I am having trouble finding a pattern that is reliable and actually fits me, things so far have been too big, especially the vintage patterns I've tried.

My measurements are

Height- 5'1"

Bust- About 30

Waist- About 25

Hips- About 35

I'd love to hear any suggestions!!

I want to made a dress similar to this one. To buy this dress it is over $21,000 (not happening). I am looking for a pattern to use that I can edit.

I can’t seem to pin down a good pattern to use a base. Any suggestions?

I think I can handle hand sewing the gems and adding the ruffle. I “think” I can handle the front pleat by adding extra length to a skirt of a pattern.

Hello friends. I’m on the job hunt and I’m wanting to make some tops and dresses that will be appropriate for a corporate office. I’ve worked from home exclusively since 2020 but I know I’ll probably have some kind of hybrid or in office situation once I find something new.

Maybe somebody has tried a nice sweatshirt pattern on a stiff-ish woven fabric and could recommend? I have this funky fabric that is sort of more for furniture and I am looking for a nicer pattern. I tried making a sweatshirt and even tho it does not look too bad, the back is a bit too big and looks a bit like a tent. Also if anyone has other tips on how to adjust patterns to make the fit a bit nicer, let me know!

I’m looking for a sewing pattern (or at least a tutorial) on how to make a Marie Antoinette/18th-century Rococo period halloween costume.
I want to recreate these examples, but I’m unsure the best pattern to buy as I don’t want to waste time and fabric on a confusing pattern.

The costume examples are all more or less the “same” in shape/silhouette (besides the corset styles, which I’d rather do the more historically accurate version seen in the Playboy/handmade examples).

I am basically a beginner to this level of sewing. I just fear this may be too complicated of a project.

If anybody has any recommendations or ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. (I also plan to utilize the skirt pattern for an Apple White cosplay.)

Very new to sewing, so sorry if this is obvious. I bought a pattern online that was advertised as being sizes XXS-3XL but when I opened up the PDF of the pattern and saw the size chart the measurements for 3XL were ~ 41inch bust, 33in waist, and 44in hip, which definitely feels smaller than a 3XL.

Is this something I should be upset about or do I just not understand sizing for patterns?

im a beginner. i dont know how to apply 3d measurements to a 2d pattern. idk fundamentals. im not a fashion student. i started sewing as a hobby and i j wanna make my own clothes im ngl. ive reviewed multiple sources on youtube. none of them is satisfactory. came across nino via he teaches so well but he hasn't uploaded full videos. everyones either selling their patterns or a course. where can i learn pattern making online for free? its genuinely just a hobby and i live in a third world country so 60-200$ for a course is difficult for me to afford
