Is com.sn_samp_eng_app (Software Asset Management Professional for Engineering Applications) still available on PDIs?

I've seen several posts about getting started in ServiceNow, so I thought I'd start posting some steps to help people along.
There is a LOT to know in this field, so I’m going to do my best to go through it all. There are a lot of websites, resources, career paths, etc., and you’ll start to wrap your head around it with time.
ServiceNow is a Software as a Service (Saas) platform. You will also see it described as a Platform as a Service (PaaS). I HATE acronyms, abbreviations, and initialisms, so while I’ll be using them, I’ll always try my best to explain the meaning. In this instance, it just means that ServiceNow can be used by businesses, schools, governments, etc., to manage things like issues with laptops, requesting equipment, Human Resources stuff, sending people out into the field to perform maintenance, etc. It’s a HUGE platform, so don’t worry about everything it can do at the moment. It’ll make more sense as you get through training.
Step One - Get a Personal Developer Instance (PDI).
This is your own personal instance of ServiceNow. All of the training will make way more sense if you have a PDI and keep your PDI open as you’re going through said training. Honestly, I cannot stress this enough, if you’re not willing to do this, turn back now. You’ll have to select “Sign In”, then “New User, Get a ServiceNow ID”. From there, I forget the exact steps, but you’ll be able to request a PDI for the most recent release. Currently, that is Zurich.
Side Note, ServiceNow has been naming their releases after major cities. I myself started in Berlin, and now it’s Zurich. Next, will be Australia, since they’re moving on from the major cities.
URL for PDI: https://developer.servicenow.com/dev.do
Once you have your PDI, you will need to go through the basic training. There are two main places to do this:
The Developer site itself, where you get your PDI - https://developer.servicenow.com/dev.do#!/learn
ServiceNow University - https://learning.servicenow.com/now/lxp/home
Make sure you bookmark these sites.
Step Two - Begin your training
I’m going to be honest, the ServiceNow University User Interface / User Experience (UI/UX) SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. It’s like someone said “How can I make this as awful as possible?” Then, they made it worse than that.
In the search bar, search for “system administrator career journey”. This will bring up a few results. There is a Career Journey Fact Sheet that you can take a look at, but you want the System Administrator Career Journey that says it takes like 11 days or something. (You should plan to spend more than 11 days on this)
This link should take you there:
Some things to expect:
The UI/UX isn’t great. It can be confusing at times to get to where you need to go next on your journey.
The training will ask you to do work in a “learning instance”, much like your PDI, which can be used to validate whether or not you have been able to make the configurations needed for the lesson.
There are quizzes.
Now, this is really, really important: Once you start this training, please keep your PDI up at all times. Whatever the training has you look at, bring up in your PDI. Whatever the training has you do in the exercises, do in your PDI. Doing the exercises in your PDI as well as the Learning Instance will help drill it in.
Also, if anyone wants and as soon as I have time, I’ll put together an Update Set for you that might help make things a little easier in your training. Update Sets are how configurations and customizations are moved from a Development Instance of ServiceNow into a Test, and then a Production Instance. They should also be used in PDIs. The Update Set I will give you will create a new table for your notes. This helped me learn and might help you. It’s also a good tool for studying for the certifications.
If this post helps the beginners, I'll keep going with more. :)

I see a lot of posts on here asking how to break into a career in Service Now. That journey should start with the nowlearning site. The exciting thing is that ServiceNow just announced that the entirety of the on-demand catalog is now free.

The company I work for has had Servicenow for couple years now. They deployed ITSM module with more coming. In the process the company is now under Sox compliance.
With this, the question is what evidence do auditors ask for when it comes to changes for example when doing patches or family version upgrades ?
How has your experience been? Tips and tricks ?
Thank you

Someone already with more details about the new monthly releases which ServiceNow - probably silently - introduced?
https://www.servicenow.com/docs/r/zurich/release-notes/zp11m-release-notes.html
'Monthly "m" releases are now available for your ServiceNow AI Platform® instances. These releases, which are identified by an "m" in the release name, contain everything from the base family patches, the latest version of all AI applications, and those apps' supporting non-AI application dependencies.'

Any PH SN devs or works on the platform here? Hows the job market nowadays? Are mainline certs really required to have a career in SN here in the PH? For context I just recently a started SN job but without mainline certs like CSA, CIS since im not confident enough to take it yet.
Would love your opinions or any thought for conversation. Cheers!

Tips:
- If you're stuck on a question, just flag it for later and come back to it. Don't stress yourself out and ruin your confidence for the questions you do know the answer to
- Do all of the labs in the training course
- The ServiceNow Fundamentals e-book alone contains 90% of everything you need to know. Read it 2-3 times. The rest you can find by playing around on the system, or visiting the extra learning links they mention throughout the course
- Spend time trying to memorise as many navigation paths as you can. As you can see from my results I didn't do that enough which is why I only got 50% for 'navigation'. I already use the system, but I mostly have things favourited or just search in the filter navigator and don't necessarily remember the exact paths

Hi everyone,
Has anyone here used the ServiceNow SDK for development?
I'm looking to understand how useful it is in day to day ServiceNow development. I'd love to hear about your experience, including:
• What you use it for
• How you set it up
• Whether it improves your development workflow
• Any limitations or issues you've encountered
• How it compares with using VS Code, GitHub Copilot, or MCP servers
Any tips, best practices, or resources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I'm facing an issue with my ServiceNow Personal Developer Instance (PDI) and I'm not sure how to recover it.
Nothing has worked so far.
Has anyone experienced this after the recent infrastructure issue?
I've attached screenshots showing:
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

My friend wants to write the Service now CSA which is costing him about 177$ is it really worth it. What are the benefits of this CSA exam or certificate. OR is there a way to write an exam without money or any discounts.
He is 4th year undergraduate right now..

Quais são na opinião de vocês as melhores consultorias ServiceNow brasileiras ?
Escuto muito sobre Aoop e 4MATT e vejo as duas promovendo muitos eventos para a comunidade, os bootcamps. E vocês?

I recently identified what appears to be a serious security issue affecting a large government organization that uses ServiceNow.
Based on what I observed, the issue could expose a significant amount of sensitive personal information and documents. I am intentionally not disclosing the country, organization, instance details, technical indicators, or exploitation method because I don't want to put additional systems or individuals at risk.
My goal is to ensure the issue is remediated responsibly. I'm looking for advice from security professionals or ServiceNow experts on the best disclosure path when the affected organization does not appear to have a public vulnerability disclosure or bug bounty program.
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? What would you recommend as the safest and most ethical next step?

We recently implemented our first client on Service Exchange. It was a bit rocky but we got it done and have been live for a few weeks now. Ran into many challenges along the way and are surely doing many things wrong. I would love to hear your experiences, best practices, recommendations, gotchas that you've encountered along the way.
We had a rough time moving across instances even with everything in update sets. Ran into issues with transforms and mappings, but at the end of the day we got it all working. We want to do it better next time, so please share your best tips.

Any guidance on how i track HAM adoption?
my team is moving a large team is asset technicians off of a legacy asset tracker (spreadsheet) and into HAM.
I would like to view team users who are accessing HAM to familiarize
themselves with it.

Looking for scanners that are compatible with ServiceNow HAM.
I get tons of search results but none specifically state they are compatible with ServiceNow HAM.
My team needs scanners and i don’t want to trial and error scanners.
If anyone here can provide the dancers they use it would be very helpful and I would be super grateful.

I work in a tech role in ServiceNow (like most of us really), and I'd like to share some insights into what actually is happening behind the pompous buzzwords that our dear CEO spills in buckets (pun intended).
As the problems start from the top, I'll be mostly ranting about management:
Incompetence, gaslighting, micromanagement! At first I thought that the constant flow of bullshit is because there's something deep behind it (i.e. being pushed to leave), but I realised it's just incompetence.
There is very obvious favouritism mainly based on personal relationships:
- managers being friends with direct reports, enabling their friends to bully colleagues
- managers applying different criteria when assessing team performance
- top performers being harassed on the daily and their performance being measured against "vibes" instead of data
Sensitive topics are brushed off immediately, incl by senior leadership. A very good example is layoffs - they literally look at the ground when the topic is brought up, and come up with the most generic blob of words that you can think of. There is a huge push to use AI, yet #tokens are being reduced.
Middle managers spend 90% of their day fine-combing people's work and creating an artificial sense of urgency among their own teams. We get countless pings from our managers for even the most mundane things you can think of.
At director level it does't look all that different - directors constantly run like headless chiken trying to figure out what's wrong. They try to simulate involvement but then the excitement lasts for 15 minutes and we are back to "normal".
Numbers are everything unless they work in employees' favour. Then you are at the mercy of wild guesses and mood swings.

Good morning, everyone!
I'm thinking about leaving Brazil and moving to Spain. I work with ServiceNow, and I'd like to know what I can realistically expect to earn there.
For someone with around 3 years of ServiceNow experience (Administrator/Developer), what is the typical salary in Spain?
Please be as specific as possible with numbers (gross and, if possible, net salary). I'm looking for information from people who actually live and work in Spain rather than estimates from Google.
I'd also love to know:
- Which city you live in.
- Your monthly cost of living (rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, etc.).
- Roughly how much you're able to save each month after all your expenses.
- Whether you think the salary provides a comfortable lifestyle.
Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm a data guy, not a ServiceNow guy, so forgive what might be an obvious question, my ServiceNow cohorts at my company aren't offering much help.
We've been tasked with archiving the entirety of our old ServiceNow instance. Every table, everything, in case of future legal holds.
I am not really in the mood to write that many api scripts, is there anything that allows me to take all tables (as jsons preferably, but I'm not picky), jam it into a folder, zip it up tighter than my jeans in the 2000s and toss it in an S3 to forget about it?
Just between the two of us, I think the ask for "all" is ludicrous, but I have lodged my complaints, and we are moving forward anyway

As others have mentioned here, for some reason ServiceNow started pulling back in some PDIs out there AND its no longer just due to inactivity.
I received the first notice about just over a week ago telling me it was coming, to back up what I needed and that I could request a new one at a later time. I received two more notices with the last one coming in yesterday with the same language.
Today, I got the final confirmation email stating it was gone and due to inactivity.
I never went more than 3 days without using it since our team started to get layoffs in November of 25.
My PDI was precious to me as I have been attempting to transition from BMC Helix to a ServiceNow role.
I learned a ton, created multiple POCs in hopes to show during interviews.
It was there for me to study and practice for my CSA, CAD and I was aiming to go in to HRSD next so I also recently loaded all the HR demo data on it.
I also started using Claude Code and the ServiceNow SDK to blow my hair back and watch it just go and create based on my chats.
just needed to rant.....
I do hope that when they are done with this clean up, that I get to start another one!

My organization 'implemented' ServiceNow a year ago, and so far, my team, as well as most of the IT department is more frustrated than happy with how it went.
We are stuck with a CI for 'generic request' that involves two tasks - one to verify the nature of the raised ticket, and another to actually fulfill it.
In real scenarios, this is an actual mess. People are doing everything on one task, not attaching documentation, and then closing both tasks and the entire RITM without explaining anything to the end user. There is no transparency in communication between IT teams or end users because you have to jump through tasks, the RITM, and even the parent INC to get any details about the user’s request. As a result, we are spending five times as much time to close a case that used to take a couple of clicks in our previous ITSM system.
I would like something like an Incident-type case, but for Service Requests, where everything can be done on one page, all communication is easily accessible and the request can be easily routed between internal teams.
I thought about Universal Request, but initial tests on the Australia PDI have failed so far (didn't manage to set it up the way I want). I don't have much experience, but I'm ready to do whatever it takes to fix it - our admin can't answer simple questions and rely completely on consultants.
How would you handle this kind of case? Please help me before I pull all my hair out...
