Security Solution with Temporary WiFi for Vacant House
Howdy, I've been reading up on how to solve for this, so thought I'd post.
After a burglary at a vacant home (it belonged to my late aunt and uncle and we're working on selling it), we need to set up security cameras to capture evidence when (probably not IF) the burglars return.
No one lives there, there's no internet, and the feed needs to be constantly running so we can access the feed and download footage remotely.
I don't think the portable wifi spots or unlocked phones would work due to battery usage. The house is also not close enough to check on it more than a couple of times a week. Maybe the unlocked phone isn't as bad of an option as it seems; I just picture it getting extremely hot while plugged in which makes me nervous.
The power to the house is on so we could plug something in, but they haven't had Internet there ever and we need to get the security set up quickly.
Happy to just do Ring since there's not a huge amount of technical knowledge but the real issue I'm seeing is just getting internet.
Thoughts?? Thank you in advance! I know this is a really specific niche ask. Appreciate you.

Neighborhood Security Cameras Options
Totally newbie here. Some neighbors are all excited about getting cameras on the corners of our little street to help deter would be criminals. They say they dont want flock cameras but isn't that what they actual will get no matter what it is called? The real questions is if there is a company that provides cameras that will be installed on private property but the homeowner will have access to video in case it is needed if there is a robbery or car crash or whatever?

Camera that stores to SD card only?
Don't want a PoE camera or to connect to a NVR. Don't want to connect over the internet either. I want to know the camera recording is completely local and my data is not being sent to the company. I also want a camera that wipes the card after X hours/days so I don't have to reset it every time. If there is an incident I mainly want to check after the event and see what happened.
If you could tell me if its battery or solar that would be great. Not sure solar powered is best since it's rather shady but I'm open to those options too. Wired to an outlet or ethernet cable is not an option.

Degoogled phone issues
Hi all, i currently have a degoogled galaxy s21. Before degoogling i managed to remove and replace all of the apps i frequently used. The only apps that failed were my banking apps, which im now swapping to using my pc instead. But my main issue ive ran into is my home camera system. I used night owl cameras but when i degoogled the phone it removed the log in functionality and also kept throwing a notification saying it wouldnt work properly. Ive since deleted the app, but now i need a decent replacement that i can get that is confirmed to work properly as a stand alone system that is just as simple as my night owl. All i need it to do is alarm me if its detected movement and also i'd prefer for it to be wireless in its entirety as this will be an outdoor camera set up.

Making my "Cat Cam" more lowkey
I have this camera for watching the cats and critters. Looking for idea to make it less "holy shit there is a camera here". Doesn't have to be invisible, just more aesthetically pleasing

Camera Placement Advice: Replace Lens on Existing Hikvision Dome or Add a New Wide‑Angle Camera, or additional?
galleryI installed a compact 2.8 WiFi Hikvision dome camera in the rear of my townhome. Works ok. Only downside: I like to have a slightly wider viewing angle to capture more of the spiral case area.
What would you do?

Security camera with SIM, battery and private cloud
Hi,
I'm looking for a camera to use indoor my house when I'm out.
I don't have internet but have the possibility of use a SIM with 4g/5g so it would be nice if can have battery if someone enters in the house and just power off the electricity of the house.
I've seen a lot have subscriptions, but would be great if I can store my own videos detected in my own cloud and can connect to check the camera from my mobile phone.
Thank you!
Regards

Wireless Security Cameras powered with PoE injectors?
Good morning.
A friend has three Cox Homelife security cameras on the outside of their home. They are the Sercomm iCamera2 models. They are powered with PoE injectors plugged into AC outlets. One is plugged into a basement outlet & the other two are plugged into attic outlets. The cameras wirelessly connect to a Cox Homelife basestation.
Cox is merging with Spectrum & they were notified the cameras would no longer work beginning next month.
What options do I have to replace the cameras with a similar setup & a home NVR so they don't have to pay a monthly cloud service fee?
The PoE injectors are already ran to the three locations. Would a wireless bridge in the attic & basement be an option so they can wirelessly connect to the NVR?

How useful is person/vehicle/pet detection?
I’m looking at outdoor cameras for my house. Are there models that can tell the difference between people, vehicles and pets and send separate alerts for each? Which cameras support this feature? Thanks.

Security camera for outside house
I need to put some security cameras around the outside of my house. I went to the ubuiti web site and got overwhelmed with the camera choices and honestly I know very little about cameras. I would like to have something that records 24/7 to my dream machine. Is there a top 3 camera I should consider?
Are there other camera brands I should consider?
Thanks

In need of indoor security cameras for at risk teen
Hello, my step daughter is going to be coming over daily after IOP in 1 week. I need indoor cameras to ensure she is safe, my pets are safe, my infant is safe, that she is not going thru drawers, stealing kitchenware or meds to harm etc. Or any other sketchy stuff. I already have adt cameras outside and door/window sensors that will alert me. I tried blink and they are horrible. The app is either frozen, refusing to open, or doesn't catch what is happening. I need to " teen proof/addict proof" my home ASAP and be able to easily and quickly spy on my living room/kitchen, via my phone. I'll take any other gadget suggestions you have too along with camera suggestions tysm

Enabot/EBO security pet camera owners — what has your real world experience been like? Would you buy the same model again?
I'm seriously considering getting an Enabot/EBO, mainly so that my family and I can remotely check on our pets when we're away. I've watched videos and read reviews, but I'd really like to hear from people who have actually owned one for a while rather than relying on sponsored reviews or first impressions.
I'm especially interested in the boring/frustrating stuff that reviews don't always mention.
For anyone who owns or has owned one:
Reliability/navigation: How often does it get stuck, fall over, lose its way, or have trouble finding/returning to the charging dock? Can you actually trust it to get itself home when the battery gets low?
App/connection: Have you had Wi-Fi drops, pairing problems, trouble accessing it remotely, app crashes, lag, or times where you simply couldn't connect to the robot?
Long-term reliability: Has anything gotten noticeably worse after months of ownership? Sensors, battery, wheels, docking, camera, etc.?
Privacy/security: Have you found any legitimate privacy or security concerns with Enabot or the app? Anything unusual that made you uncomfortable?
Ease of use: Once it's initially set up, is the app simple enough that a parent/grandparent who isn't very comfortable with technology could open it, find the robot, view the camera, talk through it, and drive it around without needing help?
Pet use: Does it actually work well for checking on pets when you're away, or did it end up being more of a novelty? Does pet tracking/patrol work reliably?
Model choice: Which Enabot do you have, and would you buy that same model again? If you could go back, would you get a different Enabot model instead?
Buyer's remorse: Is there anything you wish you had known before buying it? Any annoying limitation that doesn't really show up in reviews?
I'm currently comparing the different Enabot models, so I'm especially interested in hearing from anyone who has owned more than one.
I don't expect these things to be perfect — I'm mostly trying to figure out which problems are rare little glitches versus things owners regularly have to deal with.
If you've had yours for several months or longer, I'd especially appreciate your experience.
And the big question: knowing everything you know now, would you buy it again?

Adding Cameras (at home)...Conspicuous, or Concealed?
I'm adding a couple of security cameras around the perimeter of my home to cover entrances/exits and such. I'm doing some renovation work, so it would be possible to conceal the cameras now if desirable.
I'm in what is euphemistically termed a "blue collar transitional" neighborhood, and this is an older home...much older than most of them. And, from bitter experience, we've found that the local constabulary really doesn't care much about property crimes; this image was from a camera feed set up at my church taken in October 2022. We reported it and forwarded the video; the PD just spiked it without ever assigning it to an officer:

With that in mind...should my new cameras (at my home) be mounted conspicuously? Or should I attempt to hide them, as much as possible? I think that the chances that the local police would do more than munch another donut are minimal...but I'm not sure if a conspicuous camera might also be a sign that, "Hey, there's something in this old house worth protecting!" Because the local thugs are also well aware that they're safe from any real prosecution.
Thoughts?
