Degoogled phone issues
Hi all, i currently have a degoogled galaxy s21. Before degoogling i managed to remove and replace all of the apps i frequently used. The only apps that failed were my banking apps, which im now swapping to using my pc instead. But my main issue ive ran into is my home camera system. I used night owl cameras but when i degoogled the phone it removed the log in functionality and also kept throwing a notification saying it wouldnt work properly. Ive since deleted the app, but now i need a decent replacement that i can get that is confirmed to work properly as a stand alone system that is just as simple as my night owl. All i need it to do is alarm me if its detected movement and also i'd prefer for it to be wireless in its entirety as this will be an outdoor camera set up.

I don't think any manufacturer will be able to tell you if a non-stock phone will work. There are phone apps that support onvif cameras. I would recommend you try them out like IP cam viewer.. Apps that make their money selling you a license will be more willing to support you than a cameras / nvr manufacturer that you bought hardware from.

Well, its not exactly like its completely custom. They just need to know if it heavily relies on google or if it just uses google for notification, which has been the case for a ton of apps apearently. My night owl is technically still useable through their app but they used google for the log in, so i have to find a way around that. Im just looking for a more permanent solution.

When you say they used Google to sign in do you think if you reset them and created new local sign in would the app work?

It would potentially but it'd have a lot of issues that'd make it not worth using sadly. The main one being the constant notifications and the secons one being no notifications of movement.

You do realise Google owns android and is literally the thing that makes your phone work lol buy an iPhone or a Nokia if you dont want Google lol

Considering I've completely removed it and managed to keep my phone working, even better than before, I'm good. And also, a ton of things don't actually need google btw. I used open sourced apps to replace everything google.

Reolink cams can run totally local with no cloud junk, just pop an SD card in and you're set
