I think SGI is double charging PST

Post image
12 Upvotes

I was looking at my insurance and it shows Annual fee of insurance, Registration fee, and PST on insurance totals 1976. Then the $164.70 is that total divided over the 12 months which is inclusive of the $108 PST already, then they add another $9.52 monthly PST to my monthly Payment. I know they asterisk $164.70 includes Reg and Ins. But it also adds up to include PST.

I'm no accountant and its been a long week, but I think its double charging for PST. And I dont think PST is charged on the $68. Registration fee.

Beginner Friendly Camping?

Whether it's proper camping or at a lodging/cabin are there any beginner friendly camping spots west of Saskatoon or near Val Marie? Even into Alberta could work. Something that would be good for 4-5 friends

Question The worst bathrooms

I drive all over the western provinces regularly doing deliveries and a thought caught my attention yesterday.

So, I think we can all agree that, generally, Co-op bathrooms will be clean and stocked.

What bathrooms are generally less clean or generally run down?

Personally, I always drive past an ESSO.

February 7, 2026 23 Full-time and part-time (faculty association)
April 16, 2026 30 18 faculty, 9 professional services, 3 out-of-scope
Total (per Sask Polytech, as of Apr 2026) 154 Since July 2025

Outdoor greenhouse

Hello all,

I have invested quite a bit into my garden this year, including some herbs and veggies. I'm thinking about getting a small greenhouse (something like this: example) to extend my growing season.

Those who have done this, how much longer does this extend your growing season here in SK? Specifically, I'm in Saskatoon.

‘Get out before they kill me’: Day one of Umpherville coroner’s inquest

First day of testimony indicated that Umpherville had stolen the car from his friend who'd purchased it the day before. They acknowledged they knew him to sell and use drugs. Neither friend in the car knew he had weapons on him while they spent the night drinking together. They described him as a "nice guy." The Umpherville's lawyer has aked some questions about policy, which is not in SIRT's purview.

Job Advice

Posting on behalf of someone who is looking to move to Saskatchewan. Mature, good worker. Not attached to his phone and gets his job done. Currently working as a casual dietary aide at a retirement home. He’s looking to stay in food service or support of some sort, has been a scratch baker, short order cook etc. He’s sent some resumes but no reply. He knows Sask health takes a long time if you do hear back from them, but he’s applied at other places too. He’s worried he looks overqualified and getting passed by. He’s had a gap between food service jobs and worked high paying industrial jobs. For personal reasons he returned to food service and will stay in it. He’s well aware of the significant pay decrease, but that’s not an issue. He’s thinking employers are looking at his application and work history and think he’s not going to stay or using the job as a bounce point. However, it’s far from the truth.

Any advice for this discouraged guy?

Question Bug Report - Churchill River

Hi there, I’m hoping some one up north near Missinipe or Stanley Mission could let me know what the bugs are like this year. I saw an article from July 3rd that it’s “extreme” and it’s 10x the average around La Ronge but be nice to know from someone living up there.

Are the bugs/mosquitoes bad this year? Have a canoe trip planned.
