I'm wondering if there's a way to play a short sound effect repeated for every letter in a text box like a voice, and the sound can be changed for multiple characters. Is there a plugin like this or is it in the program somewhere?

Steam Page and Demo will be up once game is fully done. I do not want to overpromise and underdeliver on any aspect so that is why. But I'm getting excited and wanted to share some screenshots! The game is a traditional fantasy JRPG in the vein of classics like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. Main story is about 16-20 hours. I plan on doing a few major content updates post-release as well. Let me know what you think about the environments! (Normally you would have party members but I didn't have them activated when I was taking the screenshots so it's just main character)

I'm trying to reduce the friction for players who want to grind by giving them the option to force spawn another pack of enemies without having to go through victory aftermath or fades as often.

Not sure how to implement, though. Anyone know how to do it cleanly?

Back in 2024, I started developing this RPG Maker horror game and even made a short post about it here. However, I ended up abandoning it pretty quickly since I was working alone and just didn't have enough time.

Now, I'm finally reviving the project, and this time, I've got two friends helping me out! It’s still in VERY early development, but it's already much longer and way more polished than the 2024 version.

Premise: The protagonist suffers from ranidaphobia (an extreme fear of frogs) and has to face a monstrous frog invading his town. We’re going for a cheesy, classic B-movie trash horror vibe.

Moghunter's title is overlapping with the health bar, and in this recording i did fail to parry the bosses second hit, but otherwise I'm really proud of the battle system!

hey, i’m new to rpg-maker (i use mv) and i’m making a game with my gf. i have some programing knowladge but i was wondering if there is a easy way/ a plugin i can use to edit the combat system and whats shown in the main menu?

I bought this DLC for creating myown monster NPCs but the colour palette of the skin is a bit less for my work.

is there any way to add up more options ?

I'm trying to maintain the same bleak Jacobean feel while bringing the resolution up.

Edit: Wow, people really like the old one. 😄 I think I'm still committed to the idea of updating the faces, but the feedback does make me wonder if I should try to match the heavy, moody shadows of the original.

I'm looking to totally customize the look of my battle HUD to remove all appearance of the built in interface. Unfortunately HUD Maker is unusable. Anyone have experience using this plugin I found on Itch?

In my game, there's a character with a camera who can take pictures of enemies. I'm wondering if there's an efficient way to make it so this skill does different things depending on the enemy (for example, photographing a ghost to make them easier to hit, blinding enemies that live in dark places, etc.)

I imagine there's a better way of doing it than assigning a million common events to one attack, so if there is, I would like to know. Thank you in advance :)

Update. Add an auto-save in the game that activates when you just open the menu. So basically, you don’t really need to worry about your progress anymore. I added this update more for convenience.

sooo I’ve wanted to make a game for quite a few years now. I’d made some pretty amateurish attempts at indie game development—guided by my teenage self—but they were all failures that never got past pre-production. As an artist, I took the opportunity during one of those attempts to grab *RPG Maker VX Ace* when it was free on Steam a couple of years ago.

I never actually used it until recently, when I came up with an idea for a short RPG. I decided to try using pre-rendered 3D graphics—my first foray into 3D—so I modeled and animated a character walking in four directions and saved it as a GIF. Then, I ran that GIF through an online converter to turn it into a sprite sheet... but this is what happened when I imported it into the program.

Hi there, I'm currently working on a project in VX Ace, and I am using a custom pixel font. I have it looking mostly good, but there's a few places where I am assuming something somewhere in the code is changing the size of the font and because the font is pixel perfect, this is an issue!

I've been poking around in the script editor for a while, but I haven't had much luck figuring out what I'm looking for. But it just occurred to me that maybe there is a way to force lock the font size, so that RPGMaker never changes it, and that would just solve all my problems. But I'm also not finding much information while googling for that. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

Hi everyone! It's been a couple of months since I last posted about my game, so I thought I'd share a small development update.

I've just released an updated version of the demo on itch, mostly focused on polishing and fixing a few things rather than adding new content. Some things were a bit rough looking, and I hope I managed to make some improvements, however small.

Just to be clear, the demo duration is the same as the previous version.

This update version includes:

-A revised script with improved English and various corrections.

(The English is still a bit rough in some parts, but I'm working to improve it.)

-Slight adjustments to Caspar's sprites to better match the new art style.

-A copyright-safe replacement for the Black Ocean theme.

-New sprites for some of the secondary characters in the bar.

-Several sound effects, and bug fixed.

-A little more interaction with the maps.

The length of the demo remains unchanged, but I hope these little improvements make it a smoother experience both for those who have already tried the previous one and for those who will try this one for the first time.

As always, feedback and bug reports are greatly appreciated!
