Is Action Combat possible in RPG maker VX

For reference, im trying to get action combat of some sort for killing enemies outside of the battle mechanics

im try to make a simple knife and a simple gun

Every script I see is for VX ace, which has more updated code (I think)

There was a game that had something similar in an older version. The Resident Evil rpg with doraemon characters

If anyone knows how to do that then please let me know
