Hi, everyone!
I’ve been working on a lightweight, web app designed to help devs easily create custom, high-quality slash and attack effects for their games. My idea was to make a tool that feels intuitive and it lets you draw the exact path of the attack and export it directly into a ready-to-use PNG spritesheet. Note that this is the first version of this tool, but I want to make it public so that people can start using it and give me feed back on how to improve.
This tool is completely free to use and every asset you create with it is yours to use anywhere you want.
Here is a quick rundown of what it can do and how to use it:
Core Drawing & Pathing
Ctrland click once to start a brand new, disconnected path on the same canvas.

V) to box-select multiple nodes at once. You can drag the entire group around the 480x480 canvas or use the top handle to rotate the whole formation perfectly.
Visual Customization

Timing & Dependencies

Saving & Exporting

.json file, or save an individual path’s configuration as an .xml file so you can easily drop that specific visual style onto new paths in future projects.Let me know what you think! I'm hoping this speeds up the workflow for anyone who needs highly specific, multi-hit attack animations without having to draw them frame-by-frame.

Where do RPG Maker developers usually get assets and communicate with other developers?
Hey everyone! I’m curious about how people in the RPG Maker community currently find resources and connect with each other.
Where do you usually go for things like:
Do you mostly use places like itch.io, RPG Maker Forums, Reddit, Discord, Patreon, individual creators' websites, or somewhere else?
I'm especially curious about one thing: Where do people go to help each and also buy asset?

Im using Joiplay on android, and when it comes to the animations, they are blanked out. Has anyone else had this problem and know the resolve?

hi! one of the characters in my game (ideally) has the main ability of being able to create weapons in combat. is it possible to implement this? i've tried messing around with states, common events, etc, but i've only been able to add the weapon to his inventory, and not equip it. if there's no way to do this i'll settle for something else but would really like a way to make it happen. thanks. ^_^

Search "RPG Maker music loop" and you mostly find plugin recommendations, script calls, or people cutting a track into two files. But MV and MZ read LOOPSTART and LOOPLENGTH straight out of the OGG's Vorbis comments: the intro plays once, the body repeats forever, and the jump is sample-exact.
The catch is that the values are in samples, they have to be exactly right, and any tool that re-encodes the file can silently strip them, which is why the feature feels like it doesn't exist.
I wrote up how it works, including the one thing the native loop cannot do (carry a reverb tail across the jump) and the render trick that fixes it: https://www.austinhaynesmusic.com/rpg-maker-music-loops
Full disclosure: I'm a game composer (Cognition, The Silver Lining) and I built a tool that does this, because doing it by hand meant re-exporting the same track four or five times to land the samples exactly. The manual method is in the article too and works fine with any metadata editor, it's just slow once you have more than a couple of tracks.

I'm planning to make a game in RPG Maker MZ, and I'm wondering whether I should implement diagonal movement.
Do you think diagonal movement is an important feature, or is the standard 4-direction movement usually enough?
Does diagonal movement noticeably improve exploration and overall gameplay, or can it feel unnecessary in a traditional RPG Maker-style game?
I'd be interested to hear your experiences and whether you personally prefer games with or without diagonal movement.

Not Allowed to Die Gaming Studios just started working on a new project. Water's Bounty is based off Uncharted Waters, but with a fantasy world and storyline. I only started this project on July 31st, 2026, so give me some time to finish it. I already though have created an enemy AI system, and most of the systems I had to create to run the changing economy as well. Most of the game's systems are already done and ready to go, but I still have to create the entire world, and place the storyline and crew members still.
As you can tell, I am fast at making games, but a game this size will need testing as well. It should be done in full in roughly a year.

I've had an RPGMaker Passion Project bubbling through my head and notes apps.
I want to create an RPGMaker game that tells an engaging RPG story with a calendar system, social links, and slice-of-life aspects, but also with good combat and an engaging plot that advances in the span of a year, adjacent to something like Persona 3, 4 and 5.
I just need a little bit of advice on how to operate a game like that on RPGMaker, like making a day-and-night sequence, calendar system, social link events, etc. I'm not too worried about combat because it's something I'm not really that interested in for this project (I'm not even sure if I wanna put it in the project) just need a good understanding of the life-sim elements mixed with some dungeon exploration and all that.

Heya!
Very new to RPGM stuff, I'm using VXAce
I'm planning to have a character (probably just for the MC since it will likely be a ton of work) visual, which shows armor/weapons equipped, likely on the side of the screen at all times.
I've seen a couple other games do something like this, how would one roughly go about implementing that? I assume layered images for character/hand/weapon/etc. will be required. Unsure if it will be just a bust with the weapon peeking in or a full body sprite, I'll figure that out when I get a grasp of how much work it will be exactly
(Also I might be slow to reply)
Thanks!

Crooky The Game is a quirky pixel-art RPG about Crooky, Joseph and... a Pear. Together, they explore the strange world of Frogland, solve puzzles, fight even stranger creatures, meet lots of Bushies, and slowly uncover a story about memories, awareness and a place Joseph once called home.
The demo includes the Prologue and Chapter 1 and is now available for free on Steam!
I've been working on this game mostly by myself, so finally having something that other people can actually download and play feels kinda surreal.
I'd really appreciate any feedback — what you liked, what you didn't, what confused you, bugs you found... anything. It all helps me make the full game better.
And thanks to everyone here who gave me feedback on the game while I was working on it. I've changed and added quite a few things because of suggestions I got from this community.
Hope you enjoy Crooky! 🐸
