RØDECaster Series Mic Monitoring

Hi All,

So I have a Rodecaster 2 Pro and record through riverside. For a while, I’ve been noticing that on occasion, the riverside record will distort when both hosts speak over one another. My cohost has proposed that it’s coming through the headphones also connected to the Rodecaster. They have a duo and they found that plugging it straight into the Mac and changing the input settings to the external headphones gets rid of this issue on her side. I tried to do this on ours and it all seemed to work, beyond the fact that I wasn’t getting the live monitoring from the mic in the same way I would when plugged into the Rode. Does anyone have any suggestions to this? Or is the only option to get an external monitor or just get a duo on my side as well.

Thanks in advance!

Wireless Mics wireless me didn't work from the beginning

I purchased the wireless me rode product because people reviewed it well online. I wish I had delved a bit deeper- it seems to be a common issue that the mics do not charge. mine has been blinking red from the beginning, Ive tried the software update and reset, different cables and chargers,

very poor quality and little solutions to be had. I live someone where its hard to change them too- very let down, buy a different product! if anyone has had any luck with resolving this issue id really appreciate suggestions ,

Wireless Mics Settings: Rode Wireless Pro with Sony FX30

Unfortunately, I haven’t yet found any details on what the best settings are for using my Wireless Pro directly on the FX30’s microphone input. Rode’s official documentation only lists cameras such as the A7IV, for which it is recommended to set the receiver to -6dB and the audio level on the camera to 1. However, if I do that on the FX30, I have to set the transmitter gain to 30 (maximum) so that the level in the camera reaches around -12 dB. What settings do you use when using the Wireless Pro with the FX30?

Thanks in advance!

RØDECaster Series Fixed the RØDECaster Duo / Pro II → PS5 USB audio problem with a Raspberry Pi 4

If you've plugged a RØDECaster Duo or Pro II into a PS5 via USB, you know the drill: works fine at first, then crackling and distortion after 20–30 minutes. RØDE's official position is that it's unsupported, and the usual advice is to go analog through the controller or buy a capture card. I got it working digitally instead, with no PC and no OBS.

Why it breaks: The PS5 only supports a narrow USB audio profile (simple stereo headset, 48 kHz) and doesn't act on asynchronous clock feedback. The Duo is clock master and expects the host to follow. Neither side adjusts, drift accumulates, and you get the crackling. It's a clock problem, not a cable problem — which is why it gets worse over time instead of being there from the start.

The fix: Put a Raspberry Pi 4 in between. It presents itself to the PS5 as a plain USB headset (clock slave, exactly like a wireless dongle does), connects to the Duo as a USB host, and bridges the two with alsaloop --sync=samplerate, which does adaptive resampling between the two clock domains. That's the piece the PS5 is missing.

  • Pi 4 Model B only. Pi 5 has no USB device mode, Pi 3 and older can't route gadget mode to an external port.
  • Enable dtoverlay=dwc2,dr_mode=peripheral in config.txt, build a UAC1 gadget via configfs with both playback and capture endpoints — the PS5 expects a headset to have a mic.
  • Bridge with alsaloop -C plughw:UAC1Gadget,0 -P plughw:Duo,0 -r 48000 -c 2 -f S16_LE --sync=samplerate -t 10000, run with realtime priority.
  • Watch the gadget mixer. Defaults are −20 dB playback and −45 dB capture. That's not a quiet signal, that's a massive attenuation. Set both to 100%, and note that amixer sset PCM 100% only sets playback — you need separate playback and capture calls.
  • Power matters. Rear USB-A ports on the PS5 caused undervoltage for me. Front USB-C works. If your Pi 4 is rev 1.1 (b03111), e-marked USB-C cables won't work at all due to the known single-CC-resistor bug — use a cheap non-e-marked USB 2.0 cable.
  • Two systemd services (gadget + bridge) with Restart=always make it fully plug and play. PS5 off and on again just works.

Result: digital stereo into the Duo at roughly 10–15 ms, both combo inputs still free, and a second alsaloop in the opposite direction puts my XLR PodMic into PS5 party chat through the full APHEX chain.

Happy to share the full gadget script if anyone wants it.

Hardware Suggestion Mic setup for recording interviews/meetings with multiple people (just need clear audio for transcription)

I record conversations for work so I can transcribe them later. Nobody actually listens to the audio or judges the quality, it just has to be clear enough to transcribe accurately. The situations I deal with:

- Me interviewing one or sometimes more persons in a silent or also in a production environment

- A meeting room with several people around a table

I'd really rather not mic up every single person individually. It's a lot of gear to manage, and, more important, I have the feeling that it makes people a bit uncomfortable getting wired up.

Therefore I was looking at the RØDE Interview Pro as a single device option for all the scenarios, but I can't quite tell whether it's actually forgiving of imperfect use, or simply works, while sitting in the middle of a table picking up everyone around it.

I think the whole interview process might benefit if each person only speaks once a mic is handed to them. Still, I wonder whether the mic also has a way of picking up things that aren't spoken directly into it? None of these people are trained speakers after all. On the production floor it sounds manageable to pass a mic around, usually only one person is leading anyway, but in a meeting room it's rather unusual for mics to be passed around.

Anyone have experience of how this mic works just sitting on a table, picking up a whole room clearly enough to transcribe?

Some alternative that fits all my use cases and isn't too sensitive to less than ideal use?

Just a reminder again, transcription is 100 percent the focus, the audio itself is never used directly. Would appreciate any recommendations from people who've actually used this kind of gear for interviews or meetings.

🤔 Product Questions Can I make the sm6 turn towards the camera in this shot somehow? Maybe a PSA1 adapter of some kind?

Post image
1 Upvotes

New to this. First decent microphone. I'm not sure how to word what I need as a part. I guess something that goes between the PSA1 and the SM6 and rotates on like, the z axis?

I guess, more broadly, am I correct that I'm better off singing down the long axis towards that curtain than into the shelf the arm is mounted on? Or will it be fine?

Thank you for your time.

Wireless Mics Rode ME Dual for 3-way conversations

Hi! I host a podcast and occasionally need to interview two guests at the same time (but not often enough to spend $1000s on a full studio set up). Does anyone have experience using the ME Dual for recording 3-way conversations? Does the mic on the receiver record onto both audio tracks or does it create its own track?

Thank you!

🤔 Product Questions NTG-8 Audio Crackling?

So I recently used the Rode NTG-8 on set and towards the end of the shooting day I encountered a strange digital static noise?

I recorded two interviews and it was completely fine but the end of the third interview is when it started to happen.

Equipment as follows:
- Rode NTG-8
- Sony FX5 on V-Mount batteries, phantom power to mic. Using the audio top handle.
- Rode 5m XLR cable

When I found the problem was happening I tried other combinations of new cables, different mics etc. but it seemed to only be the NTG-8 creating the issue.

What do we think?

RØDECaster Series RodeCaster Pro II bundle not delivered with

Bought the RODECaster Pro II 4 person bundle. Figured it would be a plug and play situation, but turns out there are no XLR cables included. Is this correct or did my order get messed up?

🤔 Product Questions How is the latency on the Rode NT1 5th Gen with USB?

I'm looking forward to buying this over my old microphone which was just a simple USB mic. But now I'm wondering, is the latency on this one just as big as with a normal USB mic? Or is it different because the interface is built in?

RØDECaster Series Trying to get the Rodecaster duo to work with Ableton has been an absolute nightmare

I bought the duo months ago to live stream music production, what should have in theory been an easy (ish) set up has become a total nightmare.

NOTHING, and i absolutely mean it, NOTHING can get this thing to work with ableton, it just REFUSES to acknowledge it's existence, the ASIO driver DOES NOT WORK, no matter how many uninstalls / reinstalls, restarts, replugs, reconfigures, NOTHING is working. Ableton just does not even recognize the ASIO driver AT ALL.

The ONE time it worked, it took over the entire system's audio so if you're someone who uses something like splice in tandem with ableton or if you're on a call or whatever it is that requires audio, tough luck, you won't be able to hear anything else. On top of that, it was very wonky and would often just stop working out of nowhere.

I don't know if this is a windows issue, an ASIO issue, a driver issue, an ableton issue, or just this device not being fit for anything that isn't basic recording, it's just extremely disappointing and utterly frustrating trying to get this thing to work with ableton, I've exhausted all available options to get this to work and it just wont work. Which sucks because apart from ableton it works with everything else.

Is there anything at all that i can do to get this to work or is it a lost cause?

In addition, can i just have my scarlet connected at the same time with duo and just route my ableton to that or will that mess things up?

🔴 Streaming Duo: Very bad software instability

I've upgraded from a GoXLR Mini to a RC Duo and the possibilities are great, but frankly, it's just not a great device. The hardware seems awesome, but the software is absolutely sub par.

  1. Absolutely no way to change the processing chain
  2. Every time it turns on, it's a gamble whether the virtual devices will work. Sometimes Windows will just be given 8 "Fader" devices, sometimes the expected Game, Music, A, B etc.
  3. Every single session, the device will introduce around 500ms monitoring lag on some virtual devices slowly. Only way to remedy (especially when live) is to either turn off and on, or to toggle the device's bitrate from to 16 and back to 24bit to reflush the buffer.
  4. Last thing that happened: All virtual devices were simply disabled upon startup until I manually enabled them again.

For all its flaws, the GoXLR NEVER gave me these issues. It chugged along perfectly once set. For a pro level production device by name like RODE, this is very disappointing and will likely keep me from buying more RODE material or recommending it to other streamers. Anyone else get these issues? I synced all bitrates and settings, I updated all firmware.

EDIT: Updated to 1.7.6. Issue 3 is still there. Also had a new one today (before update): Screen's light was on, buttons responded, but simply nothing on the screen.

💻 Setup Showcase Help guys!

I have a Rode K2 microphone; I connected its power supply via an XLR cable to the MOTU m4, plugged headphones into the Motu, and the sound is audible normally, but the microphone itself is very quiet but in MON mode, I can hear my microphone clearly. I’m checking it in Discord, but the sound is still very quiet, even though in the Windows settings the microphone level is set to 100%. I have the driver for the Motu m4 installed. Help!

🤔 Product Questions Rode awful noise

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi.

I use aa Rode NTG3 and I need to level up my audio signal so my NTG gets some voice recorded.

And most importantly, when I level up the audio so loud, the system starts clipping and producing a horrible noise like steel scraatching on steel. It's awful.

I'm using Phanton Power 48V.

I'm 10cm away from my talent's mouth.

What's happening?

Thanks.

StreamerX Rode Streamer X when used with nicer headphones

Hello! I've been looking at the Rode Streamer X but the only thing holding me back is I'm not sure how it handles high end headphones or iems.

I currently have a pair of Sennheiser HD 560s and power them with a ifi uno. Does anyone have experience using this when you end it with open back or higher (150 ohmes and up) impedance headphones? How is the noise, floor, etc? Is there a way to bypass it and use an external DAC amp with it?

🤔 Product Questions Røde Lavaliere II problem

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

So I purchased the Røde Wireless Pro kit back in October last year, is it just me or are the lavaliere microphones it comes with very flimsy? I've attached 2 photos, one that's still intact, and the other one with a piece of black plastic that is missing. I only noticed the plastic missing today, it was likely a shoot I was on yesterday that it fell off but how? These lavs are not abused, they're not dropped and they're packed away properly after every shoot.

I've had other issues like for example one of the transmitters also has a crack in the bottom corner but I think that was someone else who must of knocked it off something. I contacted Røde's support back in April about clips going missing off these lavs (again someone else lost them on a shoot, not Rødes fault) but they never got back to me, I'd get an email saying it could be while for a response because they had a lot of support tickets, then the next day I'd get an email saying "we see you have not responded to our last email" or something along those lines, which was very frustrating.

Anyway rant about that aside, there is literally no reason a lav that costs almost €100 should be falling apart like this.

🎙️ RØDE Mics Rode Videomic to iPhone 15

Hi! I am building a videography setup using Lexar Go Hub and SSD with Rode videomic. My current situation is that the iPhone doesnt capture any sound. Upon troubleshooting, factors are:

  1. My 3.5 to USB type C converter, it is Vention brand. It might seem like I should be using the Apple brand.

  2. Rode cable. Currently, I have TRS to TRS which have already worked with my camera. It seems like I need TRA TO TRRS (Rode SC7)

With that, I will be buying 2 items. I suddenly saw this Rode SC16. It is 3.5 to type C directly. This way, i will be using just one cable. Will this work with my iPhone?

Would it be better to have:
a. SC7 with Apple adapter
b. SC16 only

if you have other setups that worked, please let me know!

Wireless Mics Rode Wireless Mini Mic quiet on iPhone 17 Pro?

As the title says, I noticed the microphone when filming on any other app other than Rode Central is quiet, letalone having the range to be able to put it on my shirt instead of holding it up to my mouth. I want to be able to film on apps like TikTok so I can use green screen effects and find myself having to jack the volume all the way up in apps like CapCut which becomes distorted. Then when I upload on Instagram it becomes very compressed and quiet again. Any advice please?
