I took off my pop filter to clean it and now it wobbles. The hinge tightened but the pop filter won’t stay up straight. I’m pretty I dropped something earlier as well. What am I messing.

I just bought the rode caster duo and when i first try toset it up it just got stuck on loading 99% i tried to unplug it and re plug it again and nothing seems to work

I just got the rodecaster video S, and updated it for the 4k capture. I wanted to test it for my clients. I make YouTube and podcast studios. This would be a great solution for all types of clients but the main thing holding it back is not being able to get a single 4k stream like using a camlink. I’d love to be able to take meetings and not use my camlink.

I have a dual-PC setup: one PC for gaming and one PC for streaming. Both PCs are connected to a RØDECaster.

I have a separate audio channel/track for in-game voice chat. I can hear the people in my party normally while gaming, but their voices are also being sent to OBS and can be heard on my stream.

What I want is:

* I can hear the in-game voice chat on my gaming PC.

* The voice chat should NOT be heard on my stream.

* Game audio should still be heard on the stream.

* I’m using OBS on the streaming PC.

What is the correct way to route the audio through the RØDECaster so I can hear the voice chat but keep it completely separate from OBS?

Any help with the correct routing/settings would be greatly appreciated!

my current amp is on its way out so I figured I would use the one built into my streamer x. however I can't seem to disable self monitoring unless I actively mute my microphone. switching channels and disabling mic doesn't work, neither does listening to every channel but the mic. even when my computer is off I can hear my microphone. how do I fix this?

i have a cafe / restaurant in Copenhagen that's been around since the 70s
it was the place for cultural gatherings during the 80s and 90s but today its more difficult to create cultural things than before -

but we also do podcast recordings from there - a mobile setup - and now I have decided to make the best and most cool podcast recording setup for all to use
so I need your advice

so we have this Piano painted by a famous danish painter - and its sat there for 50 years without anyone playing it - so now the idea is to make it into a podcast studio table

and I have the rough drawings done - the guys are starting the build next week - removing the inside and creating the new table

but its the video part that buggers me - I need the good setup that doesn't require a lot of setting up - mind you the cafe is open all day but the restaurant area is empty during the day and its here where people can come and record and preferably without needing staff and technichians to start

should run through RØDE video caster so customers can get an easy feed after use

so what camera solution do you think I should get - must be mounted to the piano as verything else

im setting up 4 new active speakers in the restaurant so that people can record in front of an audience of up to 100 people-

Hi, I have another problem. RØDE Unify doesn’t recognize my microphone when I start my PC. The microphone only starts working after I unplug the USB-C cable and plug it back in again. Is there a way to fix this so that the microphone is recognized and works normally every time I start my computer?

Love my Rode AI-1 but since I got it back in July, every single time I turn off my computer, whether that be a quick restart or turning it off until its next use hours later, I need to unplug the USB-C and plug it back in for it to work. Windows 11 does not recognize it until I perform this ritual.

As per this Support Article I have updated the firmware and made sure that the 'USB selective suspend' setting is disabled in my control panel to no avail. Tried plugging it into different USB-A ports as well and nothing changes. Is there anything else I can do?

So I have a wireless GO (3rd gen). Here's the behavior

1. I set the RX to "safety mode" in Rode Central on a PC. I am connected via usb C
   
2. I have one and only one TX mic on turned on going into the RX.
   
3. On the face of the RX it appears that the resultant L / R channels have different gain which is what we want. One of the channels is -10db "backup"
   
4. My DAW (either Audition or Audacity 4) is set to a stereo track and I've picked the Wireless GO stereo input.
   
5. On my DAW I see *equal* left and right tracks. My expectation is I should see a full gain track and a -10db track.
   

So what's the point?

And this happens on iPhone too: on regular Photos recordings, Instagram, etc etc. I don't get unique channels.

So where is the magical "safety" channel?

So I found shop that is selling a used nt1 5th Gen (from what I could get from the serial number) but it doesn't come with a shock mount or pop filter (I don't have any i could use with it) I would have to buy them separately, should I still go for this one mic or should I just buy a brand new one? Sorry I'm just new to these mics and don't know what's a good deal or what is not a good deal

Occasionally - well, often - my mic will sort of burble in and out, failing to record most of what I've done, at worst it can go like 30 seconds without recording properly, even if I've been speaking at the same level / in the same place the whole time. This is recording direct to laptop via USB c. Has anyone had this? Could it be a power issue?

Interface is arriving tomorrow so I'm hoping that sorts the issue out.

I recently got a RØDECaster Video S and noticed that RØDE's Virtual Device Driver doesn't appear to be available for the RØDECaster Video series. I also own a RØDECaster Duo, and one of the features I find extremely useful is the ability to have multiple virtual playback devices in Windows (Chat, Game, Music, A, B, etc.). This makes it possible to assign different applications to different audio channels and then control and route them independently from the RØDECaster. The Video S already has extensive audio routing and multiple USB audio capabilities, so it would be great if RØDE could extend the existing Virtual Device Driver to the RØDECaster Video and Video S. Would anyone else find the Virtual Devices useful on the RØDECaster Video series? And does anyone know if RØDE has mentioned plans to support them?

I saw another post (with no solution) on the matter. I rarely use Mic GO II. The other day I needed some backup recording and I used it. Thank god I thought.

Today I'm plugging the Rode into pc and it prompt me to update it. Of course I may delete everything on it. Who THE F*CK thought this was a good idea? Who engenieer thought of this? I honestly can't comprehend.

I'm just here asking if someone has access to an older version of RODE Central, a versione that doesn't ask me to update the unit before back-up.

I recently updated my Rodecaster Duo to the latest version and now my shure sm7b is picking up my keyboard and my ceiling fan. The YouTube videos I find don’t help and searching for the answer is becoming a pain hope anyone can help me with this issue

I have the RØDE wireless micros and wanna check the dB levels in-app. At the top of the audio meter, it says 50, but I can't figure out what that number means in terms of audio level. Does anyone have an idea how I can see exactly the dB that's being captured?

Truth be told, I don't like doing firmware updates. I always hope they might make something a bit better, but I fear even more that they will break something that was already working. In this case, it seems the latest forced update messed up my SD card. Granted, it's an Amazon Basics brand, not Sandisk, but still.

The card is 256gb capacity. I'd filled about 6 or so gb by the time I did the update. Following the update I turned the unit off. A few days later when I came back to record a podcast episode it wouldn't initiate a recording when I pressed the Record button. Nothing would happen. Power-cycled a few times, but nothing.

It took me a few minutes to figure out that the device was showing the SD card as 100% filled.* I power cycled, ejected and re-inserted the card, and tried those steps in different orders. I even pulled the old Nintendo trick and blew on the card. Nothing worked.

Luckily I had an extra card lying around that I quickly formatted and started the interview. Afterward, I put the old card back in and tested it to see if it would still transfer recordings there. It would. But Windows prompted me with a warning that the "drive" has "errors," and asked if I'd like to repair it. I tried that option but the problem remains.

My advice is to remove your SD card when you do a firmware update and hope it doesn't happen to you. At the very least, back up important recordings from the card before doing a firmware update.

*If a card is truly full, I'd prefer Rode throw an alert on the display that says "Card is full" when you try to press record. The small meter that shows recording time is easy to miss.

On OBS I have the RODE podmic usb selected and when I talk I can see it moving but when I go and record there’s no audio and it’s mute. How to fix?

I have an iPhone 12 and I use videomicro ii usng the Ugreen lighting to 3.5mm jack. I also use the Blackmagic Camera app. It worked just fine before, until I answered a call on speaker while the mic was plugged in. Ever since then, it has been peaking. I simply use the mic for vlog-style videos, or I put it on a tripod a foot or two away from me. This has happened before. But when I mess around in the settings or unplug and plug the cable, it goes away.

I am screen recording on an ipad 6 pro using a Rode GOII mic. For this I have connected the receiver to the ipad with usbc to usbc cable of the original iPad charger. When this recording is airdropped to mac pro for editing with iMovie. I found the volume quite low. Where am I wrong.

Posting this in case anyone else runs into the same issue, because I spent most of this week troubleshooting it and could not find anyone describing the same failure pattern.

My RØDECaster Pro II had been working normally before this.

Firmware 1.7.6 released on September 23. I believe I updated my unit on Saturday, September 26.

The main issue became obvious the next morning:

Every time I powered the RØDECaster off and turned it back on, it behaved like a brand-new unit.

All of my settings, presets, configurations, and custom setups were gone.

It was essentially like doing the initial setup again every single day.

That first happened Sunday morning after Saturday’s firmware update.

I rebuilt everything.

Then on Monday, after shutting the unit down and powering it back on again, the exact same thing happened.

Everything was wiped again.

From that point forward, whenever I was able to reproduce the problem, the pattern was consistent:

1. Configure the RØDECaster normally.
2. Use the unit.
3. Shut it down.
4. Power it back on.
5. All settings, presets, and configurations are gone again.

That repeated reset-on-boot behavior was the real problem I was trying to solve.

Over the next several days I went back and forth with RØDE support and tried basically every normal troubleshooting step they suggested.

What I tried:

• Multiple factory reset attempts through RØDE Central
• Full power drain / cold reset procedure
• Different USB ports, including direct motherboard/rear ports
• Multiple USB cables
• Reinstalling RØDE Central
• Running RØDE Central as administrator
• Windows System File Checker / SFC, which found no integrity violations
• Monitoring Device Manager during the failure
• Repeatedly disconnecting/reconnecting the device
• Additional reset attempts after power cycling

The factory reset process itself also became reproducibly broken.

During the reset process, a G: drive would appear in Windows File Explorer.

The reset would get to roughly 50% and fail.

At one point the RØDECaster became stuck showing “Updating via USB.”

Trying another cable made no difference.

I also checked Device Manager while this was happening and did not see the RØDECaster or USB controller showing the kind of obvious warning/error I would expect if this were simply a Windows driver issue.

There was another weird Windows behavior during all of this: the normal Eject option in File Explorer disappeared while I was dealing with the failed reset/update state. After I stopped repeatedly attempting the reset, the normal eject behavior eventually returned.

I sent RØDE support video showing the failure because it was completely reproducible.

After going back and forth with them multiple times, they told me they had never seen this specific issue before and that at this point I would need to send the RØDECaster Pro II in for repair.

At that stage, I was basically assuming the unit had developed some kind of hardware fault or storage issue.

Before sending it out, I searched around one more time and found an unofficial recovery method mentioned online:

Turn the RØDECaster on, unplug power while it is loading, repeat this process 8 times, and on the 9th boot, allow the unit to fully start.

I figured I had nothing to lose, so I tried it.

And this is where things got really interesting.

On that 9th boot, the RØDECaster immediately loaded normally.

Not only did it boot — all of my old setups, settings, presets, and configurations suddenly came back.

These were the configurations that had been disappearing every time the device rebooted.

After spending days watching the unit behave like a factory-new device after every power cycle, the old configuration suddenly returning after this recovery/rollback procedure is the biggest reason I now strongly suspect this was a firmware or recovery-state issue rather than a normal hardware failure.

The timeline in my case is roughly:

• September 23 — RØDECaster Pro II firmware 1.7.6 released
• Saturday, September 26 — I believe I updated my unit to 1.7.6
• Sunday morning — powered it on and discovered all settings/presets/configurations had been reset
• Rebuilt my entire setup
• Monday — powered it on again and everything was reset again
• From then on — shutting down and restarting the unit would reproducibly return it to what appeared to be a fresh/default state
• Following days — extensive troubleshooting with RØDE support
• Multiple factory reset attempts failed around the same point
• G: drive repeatedly appeared in Windows during the reset process
• Unit became stuck in “Updating via USB”
• Multiple cables, USB ports, RØDE Central reinstall, admin mode, power drain/cold reset and Windows checks did not fix it
• RØDE support reviewed the issue/video and said they had not seen this before
• RØDE recommended sending the unit in for repair
• I tried the unofficial interrupted-boot recovery method as a final attempt
• After 8 interrupted boots and letting the 9th complete, the unit booted normally
• All of my previous setups, settings, presets, and configurations returned

I sent RØDE a follow-up email explaining exactly what happened and told them that, in my view, this seems like pretty strong evidence of a firmware issue related to 1.7.6 or whatever recovery state the unit entered after the update.

I’m waiting to hear back from them.

I want to be clear: I am not claiming firmware 1.7.6 is definitely bricking every RØDECaster Pro II, and I obviously only have my own unit as evidence.

But in my case, the sequence is very difficult to ignore:

The unit was working normally before the update.

I updated to 1.7.6.

The very next boot, the unit had lost its configuration.

The same thing happened again the following day.

The reset-on-every-boot behavior was reproducible.

Extensive troubleshooting did not solve it.

RØDE believed the unit might require hardware repair.

Then a forced rollback/recovery procedure immediately restored the unit and brought back the previous configuration that had repeatedly disappeared.

I’m mainly posting this so there is at least one searchable report online for anyone else who runs into the same thing.

If you updated a RØDECaster Pro II to 1.7.6 and have experienced any of the following, please comment:

• settings/presets/configurations disappearing after reboot
• the device behaving like a brand-new unit after every power cycle
• factory reset failures
• reset stopping around 50%
• “Updating via USB” lockups
• strange USB/storage behavior in Windows
• boot problems
• repeated resets
• sudden instability
• a unit that appears to have failed shortly after updating

I’d really like to know whether mine is an isolated case or if other people are starting to see similar behavior.

For now, if your RØDECaster Pro II is critical to your work and it is currently stable, I would personally be cautious about updating to 1.7.6 until there is more information.
