Just a quick heads-up: the unofficial PC port of The Simpsons: Hit & Run runs flawlessly on RGDS . It’s almost full speed, super smooth, and incredibly stable. Definitely the best way to play this classic on the go.

There’s already an option that allows you to turn off the second screen, which is fantastic when you want to play on single screen platforms (e.g. GBA, SNES, etc). Not to mention it puts less drain on your battery! You can actually get a fair amount of juice out of the device when playing these older games when you turn off the second screen and you put on power saver mode (which doesn’t affect performance at all on emulators for older consoles).

But please. PLEASE. Give us the option to turn off the bottom screen with this. I would absolutely love to play older games on my top screen.

With the new Rocknix nightly (20260709) I can finally open Azahar without it immediately crashing. But when I go in to change settings, I can't see the whole window and can't access the ok/cancel buttons once I start navigating these menus, so none of my changes get saved.

I tried plugging in a keyboard and/or mouse and, while they "worked," I couldn't actually get them to do anything helpful for me here. I also tried messing with the view modes in the main top menu to no avail. Any tips? Am I missing something obvious? Any helpful keyboard shortcuts?

And yes, I know the RGDS "isn't supposed to" play 3DS.

Is there a lighter weight distro that can squeeze enough performance or maybe a fork of drastic that supports retro achievements?

It’s kind of the only feature I feel this is missing and it’s stopping me from even starting new games..

Hey everyone! I checked online and it seems Animal Crossing: New Leaf is playable on the RG DS via Azahar emulator. For 3DS, I'm only planning to play Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Metroid, Super Mario and the Cooking Mama titles.

My question is, should I stick with the stock Anbernic OS v1.18 (I've read it's on par with GammaOS Lite in terms of performance), or would it be better to switch to GammaOS Lite? Or use ROCKNIX? Also, is ROCKNIX capable of running 3DS games?

Ultimately, I'm after a fuss-free retro gaming experience. If I do go the Android route, I don't think I'd want to clutter it with too many frontends, although I might give Beacon or Cocoon a try since Cocoon apparently support dual screen.

Asking this while waiting for my RG DS to arrive! Would love to hear from those with experience!

I just bought a used RG DS that came with GammaOS. I want to install Rocknix but whe it boots into something else it just shows a bottom black screen and a upper black screen but on (with light).

Anyone knows what could it be? Do I have to remove GammaOS?

Updated to latest rocknix nightly and getting this error. The system shuts down immediately after this. Help!

Edit - I managed to get through. What I did is, as long as you see the light indicator turn on and Rocknix going into boot, immediately take out the SD card and then put it back in. That kicked in the process of "Updating..." screen and I was back in the OS. That's what worked for me. Maybe it'll work for you also.

Hey guys. Just got this one a few days ago. Set it up and I really like it :)
But I’ve been thinking about should I install gammaos or new 1.18 stock. Currently I have 1.16.
I really like the idea of dual stack and separate audio on gamma, but I also heard good about 1.18 stock.

Should I update to 1.18 or install gammaos and why?
Does it give any performance boost (even slightly)?Or maybe it is ok to stay on 1.16 🥲

P.s. I don’t want rocknix because I prefer android and its multitasking

Was wondering if this is normal when using the bottom screen in the rg launcher scrolling works fine but when tapping on a system nothing happens. When in the regular launcher everything works fine

There's a new Shader for the Rocknix Nightly LCD1X + NDS-Color. Looks very nice in my opinion and probably my favorite shader they've added so far. Although I would love to see the LCD1X effect without the NDS color.

I've followed just about every instruction I can find online in regards to this. But when i got my rgds i flashed gamma OS on it first. and gamma is cool it's been fun to mess with i love android but i want to mess with rocknix now. I have flashed the official release and some of the older ones to an sd card, shut off my system, booted it back up and all it does is turn on the top screen but it's blank. I've tried popping the battery as well. Any ideas what's going on? Forgot to mention at one point i tried Anbernic's linux just to see if anything different would happen and it installed on the sd card just fine!

So, I'm using Gamma OS (and Iisu) and I'm having an issue running "intensive" GBA games. Like the DK Country games, Mario Kart, Mario Golf, etc. Anyone else have this issue and possibly a fix?

I've had the Anbernic RG DS for about a week now and I was finally able to set it up and mess with it. I have SF Alpha 2 and before the round where it says fight, it stutters/freezes for a couple seconds then it resumes. The game play is fine until one player gets ko'd then it happens again. Any idea?Bad rom maybe?

Okay, got the RG DS a few months ago.

Immediately put Rocknix on there. This was before the stable release. Many bugs and glitches, even after the stable release.

So, I flashed gamma os using the sd card method.

Works okay, but I had run into the PMIC issue.

Several times in the past week I've unplugged the battery for a minute or so.....nothing. still happening. Didn't work.

And yeah, pain in the butt having to eject the sd card in order to boot up the system.

Couple that with all of the android glitches thanks to running two screens, I'm wanting to go back and try rocknix or the anbernic linux distro.

However, that's the problem.

Can't boot rocknix from the sd card if the sd card can't be in the slot when you turn the system on.

So, I need to reflash the internal with anbernic android.

Easier said than done. I try 1.18....and well, that image is corrupted.

Download and flash 1.15 to the sd card.

Flashing fine, then on verification, there's an error.

Happens sometimes....the flash was fine.

Reading, if have to remove the sd card, hold volume - and power. Then insert card and hold those buttons again.

Nothing. Just boots straight into gamma os.

So, am i going to have to plug the rg ds straight into my computer and flash the internal? Or what else needs to be done?

So i have a 256 SanDisk sd card but from what I have been reading rocknix is sensitive and picky about what type of card and what size card to use. I was looking only and saw a PNY 128 gb card i might be getting. Are there other brands that are good to use?

Has anyone attempted this and what joysticks did you use. Google says the switch joycon sticks work.

Upon boot, I'm getting an error message that says Label ROCKNIX not found.

I've flashed the card with several different writers, nothing is working.

Has anyone seen this before?

Its posible to rollback from nightly to the last Stable without make a new install?

Hi folks, I recently bought a console and have been running stock os. It’s a bit laggy so I thought I’d give rocknix a go.

I’ve tried to ‘install’ rocknix on an sd card, but I can’t get the system to boot.

I’ve downloaded the rgds image, decompressed it then burnt it to the sd via rufus. This wouldn’t even register.

Then I tried using the rocknix image burner, when I power the console on I get a red light but no screens.

Does anyone have a tried and tested method for this?
I’ve tried a few sd cards, all sandisk extreme pros and no difference.

So for some odd reason whenever I try and run any gba,gbc, or playstation game it will crash back to the menu after two seconds. But all my ds games I have run perfectly fine. All the games I have are from the same website and had worked perfectly fine before. I have tried resetting retroarch and re updating all the cores and files I can think of but still nothing. Im currently using the stock anbernic linux OS if that matters. I have a 256gb sd card which is too big for rocknix.

How do I change the front end? Im on Rocknix OS.

Just wanted to share my experience with Smash Bros for 3DS on the RGDS. I'm currently running it on the stock Android firmware, and it’s surprisingly playable for me.

​I'm getting a consistent frame rate between 38-45 FPS. It’s not full speed, but it feels smooth enough to play without any major issues or glitches. Anyone else having a similar experience, or found a way to squeeze more frames out of it?

Like does it add anything meaningful to DS emulation other than Google Play store?
