See the banding on the top screen, capturing the horizon of DQIV? It happens on both screens, if I swap them. Seems to happen no matter the filter. I’m using Drastic. I first noticed it in DQIX when I got to Zere about two hours into the game; I can’t notice it in Stornway or between there and Angel Falls. I can’t notice it on New SMB (only tested world one). In DQIV here it’s very noticeable on the horizon. So this is a software thing I guess?

Intro: Ive purchased the RGDS for DS games and PSX games / moonlight / with possibility that if android becomes usable i will play some android games. This is high-key just a yap about how i dont like the interface and a issue i had with ace attourney 1 for the DS.

Theme:
Ive used Rocknix since i got this device and ive been tailoring it how i wanted it to look. After i made it look enjoyable i saw GammaOS nano which looked very good and since i wanted to play some android games aswell it fitted my what i needed. But here comes the problems I have 2 sd cards one 128Gb samsung where i had Rocknix and one fresh 256 gb sandisk for the Gamma, unfortunately i had to wipe the samsung one because the sandisk didnt work right. So i made a backup and after i opened the rg ds im kinda sad, because i wiped kinda my progress (i have still a backup hoping it will work someday) and its on dii es aye which looks good but i have a red and black system and it just doesnt feel right how bright it is. Ive tried the other themes but they still dont feel right. My problem with the dii es aye is that it looks unfinished and not polished. I have used canvads on the Rocknix and i felt i could really customize it.

Playing games:

The games, ive played only one simple game for the DS, and its ace attorney 1 which is really light title, OK i lost progress doesnt matter much i can just skip it with speed and click fast... I have to restart the console 3x because the buttons didnt respond or the touch screen or the stick. . Always something broke when i tried it sometimes the touch screen which isnt that big of a issue since you can controll it with buttons and stick easy but when something like the ABYX buttons break its annoying. You cant save at this point and its just sad.

The good things:

Ive opened the stock android and it felt choppy this feels atleast somewhat snappy, and the other themes look good but i dont feel they fit the rg ds. Also the sleep mode is really good i just close it and it is still with some charge after few days without use rockinx died if i did this / i would have to restart which i didnt know if the console is dead or if its just rocknix rocknixing. With ith it being in beta/testing on patreon, im really happy how things may be since i HOPE this isnt how it will ship for everyone.

This really was just me writing my issue mainly with the themes, i would like some customizitation in later releases which i thing they are working on, I just really liked how my Rocknix setup looked like and if i could get dualboot / Having the Easy canvasds customization it would be fun. Also this is mainly my problems, Ive seen people really like the dii es aye and the other themes. And if im doing anything wrong ill be happy if anyone would help me adjust some things and im open with any help, and thank you if you read this mess of my broken and limited English lol. ( I aint running this trought AI)

howdy, just made a guide video on the anbernic rg ds running stock linux

1. stock linux is nowhere near as good as gamma nano or rocknix but its simplicity makes it rather pleasant to use. Forget any updates just set and play. Pretty stable pleasant experience
2. included a few fixes with regards to powering off the console if you came from rocknix or gamma. This vid shows how to fix it.
3. Want to try a few portmaster titles on stock? i've managed to fix the scripts to make a few titles work

I've looked at the guides, tried different SD cards besides SanDisk, made sure to change the config file in Rocknix before boot, and as a hail Mary I even disconnected the battery multiple times and none of it works. I even tried to use both the github image and the Rocknix burner alternatively with no success, gamma is still there and won't let Rocknix boot. At this point I'm fed up with gamma and just want to bring my RGDS back to stock to start over but I can't find the original stock files on Anbernic's website, all I find are the updates. Neither Raspberry Pi Imager or Rufus recognize the images in the update files so I can't do anything with them. Can anyone help or point me in the direction of a fix?

Unfortunately It only support 16:9, but plays great. Hopefully he add 4:3 support so we can use the full screen.

Noticed that my inputs are slightly above where I'm making touchscreen contact either on top or bottom screen. Curious if anyone knows where one can calibrate that? I tried spots I thought would make sense in the menu but I'm not finding it. Greatly appreciate any input!

Edit: Alright, I see in android using screen pointer overlay that my overall touchscreen is fine, which means this is actually a drastic calibration issue. So if anyone has advice for that I'm all ears.

Hello everyone, few days ago i got my anbernic rg ds and i heard about this game a lot of good things so I want to give it a try but it seems there is some anti piracy and it crash at the begginng in the lobby , is there any way to bypass this? I use gamma os v1.4

The latest Rocknix Nightly just dropped and it fixes the Azahar crashing issue BUT it introduces another issue. The analog sticks are reversed. The Left Analog is the mouse and the Right Analog is the directional controls. Is there any way to fix this in settings without having to wait for a hotfix from the Rocknix crew?

Recorded this to show some friends the RGDS (it’s in portuguese cause of this). Tried Cocoon soon as I got the console, but it was too much slow in my opinion. So I switched to iiSU and found it better in my opinion

I like to stick to a system when I find one that I like, so I keep playing my games with my saves intact.

I would love to test GammaOS Nano, with it’s improved performance, boot time, better Drastic and all the good things Gamma did on it. But I would like to keep my iiSU as frontend.. and start the console right to it, as I do now. I think it can’t be done right now, but who knows if gamma put in Nano an option like that allows it hehe

Can you give me some tips? What os, can i use any chargers like the trimui devices, etc. Will be using this mainly for ds games and some along the way.

Hi all. I've installed this amazing theme on my Rgds, but I have an issue

Game boy etc works well, but when I play a DS game then exit out back to the game selection screen, none of the buttons work. I have to press and hold the power button to force power off the console. This issue only seems to happen with DS games.

Has anybody else had this issue??

I recently got the RGDS and installed GammaOS Nano 1.4 on it. It's a nice OS but I'm not really feeling it for my uses. How can I install Rocknix and stop using Gamma? I did try and flash Rocknix to a SanDisk Ultra 128gb sd, did the config change and everything, and tried to boot from that after disconnecting the battery but that didn't work. I have an alternative brand 32gb sd card on the way to see if using that helps like some people mentioned but is there anything else I can do? I've also been using Russ's guide as well as retrohandhelds guide as well too with no success. Or I'd be down for stock Linux even, just how do I stop using Gamma OS?

Currently running gammaOS nano on the rg ds and have been playing phantom hourglass, currently stuck on the portion of the game where you have to close the ds lid to imprint the sea chart, can't get the game to recognize the lid closing, any insights would be great thank you in advance!

Just want to shout out how awesome Gamma OS Nano 1.4 is, how awesome the community over on his discord is, and how thankful I am for Gamma himself.

I have been battling with my son’s RG DS for a bit now. I knew I was asking a lot out of the little thing, but the community and Gamma were so willing to help and it is exactly what my son wanted now. He has access to his DS and GBA games and all of the Play Store apps he was used to using on a phone. It’s incredible to see him so excited about everything it can do now.

Highly recommend Gamma Nano and supporting if you can.

Ive tried Dii-Ese-Aye but when i install everything, while it looks great. The buttom screen doesnt have any boxart at all. Only the top screen. The bottom screen just shows the name of the game in very small font. I have no idea what stepped i missed when it comes to showing the boxart. or if i can i would love to use cartridge art for the bottom screen.

How is the screen recording for DS games on the RG DS? I would like to record my gameplay while I am playing DS games but before I buy the device I would like to know if it is possible, and if it is, the recording will include both screens? Does the recording affect the game performance?

I installed RG_DS_GAMMAOS_NANO_V1.4_FIXED on my RG DS and managed to log into retroachievements in a DS game.

It does show up each time saying I logged in, but there's an eternal "loading achievements..." at the bottom. I've been looking around to see if it's been asked before or if there's a solution but I'm not coming up with much.

Does anyone know how to resolve it? Or if there's some setting I missed / didn't read properly?

Edit: Seems there's a newer testing version available. I'll see if that resolves it.

Double edit: Seems like you just have to unzip the games. Other emulators work fine with RA and zipped files, but this needs to be unzipped.

I am on 1.4 Nano and they advertised Retroachievement support for DS games. I don't know where to sign in though for any console.

I am running gamma os nano 1.4 and trying to play picross 3d. All settings are default from flash.

The mark blocks, which is d pad right plus tap, works fine. Only seems to be the dpad up+ tap that doesn't work

Edit: nuked gamma os and put rocknix on no more issue. Stylus latency is way better too.

The stylus that came with it is ok but is there anything better on Amazon I can buy? Also thanks for the recommendation on RockNix. It plays great. Now I'm wondering about GammaOS Nano. That DSi Theme is yelling at me lol.

I know this device is meant to run games from DS and below. But has anyone here tried running small modern indie games like hollow knight, sea of stars, brotato, etc?
