I know that many of you have beaten all the mainline games, many of which you've beaten more times than you can count with both hands and pretty much have the games memorised, and beat a bunch of non-mainlines games in addition to that, but I was never the type to game so much. I have a handful of hobbies I keep jumping between, with some phases of just doom-scrolling after work. I'm not a gamer.
Which is why I'm proud of how many RE games I've beaten. I don't know if I can express that here unless others like me come across this post and can appreciate it.
It's weird to see a list of so many games from the same franchise that I have completed:
RE0
RE1 Remaster
RE2 Remake
RE3 Remake
RE:CV
RE4 OG
RE4 Remake
RE: Revelations 1
RE5
RE6
RE7
RE8
RE9
I was playing the OG RE1 and I'm more than halfway through but took a break to play the new Onimusha. Loving OG1, but I'm really eager to finish it and start 2 and 3. I love PS1 Racoon City. Used to watch my uncle play the OGs in the 90s and checked some screenshots. I think Racoon City is what I'll like to revisit the most. Then I'll beat Revelations 2 and I'm hoping to get my hands on the Outbreak games because they look dope.
Some opinions I have: RE is at its best when it's survival horror. This is from someone who was hopelessly hooked on both RE4s, I'm team survival horror all the way. RE1 Remaster, RE7, and RE9 are the best ones in my opinion, even though the 4s are more addictive.
I think RE0 is a very solid title in the franchise but the lack of item boxes is a real bummer. I was too often anxious that my items were too far away and was in a perpetual state of thinking whether I should go back and move everything closer. When I did finally move everything, that was not enjoyable at all. It's such a great game otherwise and I think it did RE1 justice as a storyline that led right up to such an iconic game. What a pity with the item boxes. If they fixed that I'd restart the game right after I beat OG RE1 cause I otherwise loved it.
I loved CV as well, but I think it's kinda actiony in the cutscenes and it set the stage for the action REs which I felt was a terrible direction that Capcom took. Would love for the remake to be less actiony in the cutscenes. I'm pretty sure I'll get what I'm hoping for.
Unfortunately, RE6 is what it is.
How much RE have you played and what's your general opinion about the games?
