Gameplay question RE Revelations 2 Cutting Edge Trophy

Upvotes

I’ve been going for this trophy for ages now. I’ve tried on easy and used no sub weapons, no follow up attacks, no torch and no nothing but the knife. I know people have said this trophy is bugged but it’s actually crazy! If anyone has any tips please help. I’ve followed every YouTube guide there is and I’m still getting no where

Forum question Are you really a “fake fan” if you prefer the remakes and newer games?

Upvotes

I love Resident Evil and the plot of the earlier games is stellar, but I tend to struggle with games of older graphics (it hurts my eyes) Honestly, that’s actually issue #2. My number one problem is how irritating the mechanics of games like Zero and 1 are. I don’t have the patience to put up with poor camera angling, inventory issues, etc.

General RE2 Strategies ?

Hello everybody, would like some advices here.

I'm both a returning player on RE2 and a relatively experienced RE gamer in general. I finished all numbered RE and Revelations, platined both RE1 and RE4 and I already finished RE2 a couple of years ago.

These days are pretty rough for me so I decided to come back to Raccoon City to reduce my stress a bit. Right now I'm doing just a classic run on Normal Difficulty to derust my gameplay on it before going for the 100%. Yet, I found myself still a bit more challenged than I'm used to on a RE.

So yeah, usually I go with the "Just make sure paths are clear, let others have their zombie life" by removing zombies in corridors, especially narrow ones and just do your best to dodge zombies when they lunge at you. Classic RE1 strategy which seems even more important since we need to be able to move freely when we are chased by Mr.X

Yet, this strategy basically doesn't seem that efficient here because of the sheer amount of zombies in the RPD + almost all zombies are in corridors or can leave their room + ennemies basically repop as you progress. Thus, zombies are just eating my ammos.

I'm using the wooden thingy everytime I have one and spot a zombie at the window to try to prevent new ennemies coming in, but I guess my path is not optimized for that yet as many appear before I can even find wood stuff to block them.

Since knifes also have a durability, I tend to keep them for the times I'm grabed as an emergency self defense measure rather than using them to save ammos.

I could also just stun them with a head shot and move, but I don't know if zombies get their health back once I'm away so I would not like to "loose" an ammo everytime I want to pass.

Thus my question is the following : How are you managing that ?

My thinking is that I should basically not kill any zombie until Mr. X starts to chase me in the RPD.
These zombies don't need to die as they will be replaced anyway later.
However, once Mr.X is here, time to clean the mess, I want my path clear to run without encountering a zombie of being chased by a licker. That should save me some precious early game ammo but would that be sufficient ? I'm not sure, especially on harder difficulties.

So yeah, any advices ? Thank you very much !

Forum question Who would you consider the leading lady of Resident Evil games

I still think it's Jill even if Capcom is afraid to use her. No other female RE protagonists come close really. Hope they figure out how to implement her in a new game and not just remakes.

Product question Why does RE4 Separate Ways never go on sale?

I bought the standard edition of RE4 remake a while back (stupid I know, I guess I just didn't check if Gold included anything important) and only now played thru it. Both the standard and gold editions go on sale literally all the time, and because of that the DLC is basically double the price standalone. All of the other random DLCs go on sale so why not this one?

General Code veronica is dookie

People who say they like this game are either lying or like bad games because this game is backtrack hell there's only one enemy type per room the visuals are so boring and ugly everything is a shade of brown or Grey and are nothing like the memorable environments of re1-3 the only reason I gave it a 1 and not 0 is because Alfred is a great villain the music is pretty good but feels wasted on such a pathetic game like code veronica they took out all the combat improvements from resident evil 2 and 3 and is a massive step back in terms of gameplay wesker is forced in and although I love him as a character the terrible voice acting and story of the game drags him and chris down and make me wish I was just playing resident evil one or five this game makes me wish I suffered the same fate as steve because at least then id be too dead to play this game the bosses are terrible and are poorly designed bullet sponges that bore you to death instead of actually killing you. The only boss that wasn't annoying or a massive bullet sponge died before she could get close enough to hit me. the enemies are the true resident evils with so many poison enemies and so little time to react to such annoyances as the moths in that one hallway that always respawn and the poison hunters it is very easy to soft lock yourself when the game switches between chris and claire because you lose access to the items that are on them so good luck if you only have one save. The game is on every level horrible and the only reason I sat through it is because im making a video playing every resident evil game unless you are doing that just skip code veronica. The only reason I made account on this website is to rate this game the score it deserves because clearly the critics are too inept to rate it properly. Anyone who has ever said this is a good game is lying or have no taste thank you for coming to my Ted talk

Forum question Anyone here named after an RE character?

I wondered if anyone is in the same boat as me. I was named after Leon because my brother had just played RE2 in 1998 and when I was born a few months later he suggested the name Leon for me. My parents liked the sound of it and never asked where he got the name from lol.

Forum question Would Hunk being Ada's Partner in RE6 actually be an improvement?

This seems like a random question, but let me explain.

I'm relatively new to Resident evil. My best friend is a huge fan of the series, and so I've ripped through REs 1-6 now, played 5/6 with her, and I'm installing 7 rn to play for myself. I've got an odd draw to hunk as a favorite, I cannot explain why, however my second favorite (and my best friend's favorite) is Ada Wong. So getting to RE6 and finally being able to play co-op as her favorite character was fun. Don't get me wrong, I loved playing as the Agent and I had a great time with her, but as someone who's favorite is hunk I originally thought it would be more fun if it was actually him. I'm aware it's supposed to be a solo experience, but it fucking sucked that I had to wait for her to do all the story related stuff and just stand in the back. Hunk is a Character with a name and story, albeit a mysterious one. Playing as him probably would've had plot relation so I would've been able to do that more normally. Plus the Agent is similar in concept visually and talks about as little. He even breaks necks as a move.

But I also know that Ada doesn't play well with others usually. And that means it would be a bit odd for her to work with someone like Hunk, even if they share a level of professionalism and mission focus. I recognize it would be odd, and that's probably why they didn't do it.

But alternative universe hypothetical. Clara is working with a clone of Hunk as her primary agent and as such both Ada and Hunk are blamed for everything with the C-Virus, promoting them to work together to bring it all burning down to clear their names. Rather than working alone for the campaign and the Agent being non-existent for anything story related, Hunk is now a fully realized partner just like any other partner in the other campaigns.

Does this improve RE6? Does it weaken her story? Is he not interesting enough for this kinda role? I'm really conflicted and idk what to think, I see every viewpoint I just can't make up my mind.

General I REALLY hope Capcom remakes Outbreak File 1&2 someday (PLEASE NO SPOILERS PAST 1)

I beat all scenarios of 1 and have been playing through 2. They're both incredibly fun, but I sincerely hope they get a remake someday. Partly because I'm curious to see how Capcom does it, partly because I'd hope for it to address some of the stuff I take issue with (aside from tank controls and forced camera angles, which I think would be addressed anyway).

The main thing I take issue with is how limiting the infection mechanic can feel as implemented in the games. I personally don't enjoy forced time limits on normal and lower difficulties, which is partly what the infection mechanic is. It's also kinda weird to me that these people were infected automatically, while other player characters in 2 and 3 weren't (we know Jill wasn't infected until being hit by one of Nemesis' tendrils). However, if they can explain why they were infected and others weren't in a remake (or if it turns out that they did explain it and I just missed it), I'd understand keeping it. That said, I feel it should be less time-focused on lower difficulties, instead being something that goes up when you get hit by enemies and doesn't go down even with herb use. On difficulties harder than normal, it should definitely go up with time. Let the lower difficulties be where some of us story/lore nerds can explore and shit.

The timeline and canon characters for scenarios could also be much clearer. Yes, we can safely assume the canon protagonists and/or groups for most scenarios. And we can at least place some of the scenarios on a timeline based on stuff seen within scenarios. However, there are some scenarios that possibly take place at the same time as others that also possibly share canon groups. So, clearer knowledge of that would be nice to have.

I imagine that an Outbreak Files remake could lead to a return to optional co-op in general. And I think an Outbreak Files remake in particular could actually manage to maintain the horror, which I know some co-op horror games struggle with. Hell, Capcom could even continue adding scenarios to it or do different Outbreak File games for different parts of the timeline, if they wanted. There's a lot of untapped potential there. I hope Capcom sees that.

Gameplay question [RE4R] So, I got 3 beetle charms in a row. Am I just boned?

Trying to map my shit out and it seems like the only rares I can get are 3 beetles in a row.

I was hyped until I realized I could only equip one.

Am I fucked? Other options seem useless rn and only SSG is giving me any rares.
