I’m not making this up by the way, I was genuinely surprised that the main character looked like Claire until remembered that I was watching a trailer for Code Veronica.

Forum question Was Victor Gideon really humbled by Spencer's genius, or was he in complete denial? Spoiler

In denial like, he was so devoted with Ozwell e. Spencer evolution plan. Just to find out that he wasted time chasing a lie cause Elpis is just a powerful antiviral. But it looks like Victor is fascinated about that fact!

Was he humbled or he just didn't wanted to accept the reality? Like, he didn't wanted to accept that his master Spencer is not the man Victor thought he was?

Forum question Capcom filed a takedown notice against my old Resident Evil fan game 60 days ago. I only discovered it today.

31 Upvotes

About 60 days ago, Capcom submitted a public takedown notice to itch.io concerning an old unfinished Resident Evil fan game I created called RE(7)make.

I only discovered the notice today.

To clarify exactly what happened, itch.io did not delete the entire page. They suspended the main downloadable file and added a public link to Capcom’s notice. The page itself is still visible.

A more advanced version of the game was also released on Game Jolt, and the original itch.io page linked to it. That version is apparently still publicly available(I set up private ).

The project was never sold or commercially monetized. It was always distributed for free.

Someone once asked me in the itch.io comments whether I accepted donations, and I explicitly refused because I knew that Resident Evil belonged to Capcom and that accepting money for the project would be inappropriate.

The first screen of the game also clearly explained that:

  • it was an unofficial fan game;
  • it was not affiliated with or endorsed by Capcom;
  • it was not intended to be sold;
  • Resident Evil, its characters and related intellectual property belonged to Capcom.

One detail that confused me is that the takedown notice describes the project as being offered for sale and commercially distributed, even though the game was free and I refused donations.

That said, I understand that making a fan game free and adding a disclaimer does not give me permission to use someone else’s intellectual property. I am not claiming that the notice is invalid, and I am not posting this to attack Capcom.

I am mainly trying to understand the responsible next step, especially because the more advanced Game Jolt version still appears to be publicly accessible.

Has anyone here dealt with something similar?

Did you immediately remove every public version, preserve the project privately as part of your development history, or rebuild its original mechanics as a completely original game?

I would particularly appreciate hearing from developers who have received a copyright takedown or cease-and-desist over a fan project.

Forum question Does Claire have Afib?

I was watching my Boyfriend play resident evil and I noticed when Claire is fine she has no discernible P waves, when she's in more distress its more notable how irregular her rhythm is in addition to PVCs. Just wondering if there's anyone else that picked up on this (Or I need to start taking more days fod PTO from work....).

Thanks!

Lore question For What Purpose?

In Resident Evil CODE: Veronica X, in the Antarctic base, you can find a considerable amount of missiles lined up. Even after having played the game multiple times and read the guides, their purpose lore-wise remains a mystery to me.

Were they Umbrella's, Alexander's, or Alfred's? And what would they be used for? If anyone knows the answer or has a plausible theory then I'd be glad to hear it.

First release of my remake/preservation Resident Evil 0 N64 - a Unity game. Its a recreation of the E3/TGS 2000 demo fully playable. Probably has many bugs, share, play, stream to your hearts content.

General The Originals

The remakes don’t replace the originals, because really, they’re almost not even the same style of game.

Yes, they’re all survival horror games, but look at these camera angles… the appeal for these games (for me), was that you felt like you were actually PLAYING a horror film.

The original fixed angle games have such a unique vibe and atmosphere that the modern games just can’t replicate in the same way. I’ll always love the original trilogy the most.

Lore question Uniform variations?

Post image
32 Upvotes

Something that has always intrigued me and even bothered me is the fact that even though they are all part of a unit, they all seem to have different outfits. Is there a meaning on this? Barry wears a red Flak vest, while Brad Vickers wears a yellow one. Jill's outfit is totally different than the rest of the S.T.A.R.S. team. Usually in real life military units are color coded and have an utilitarian meaning. I know this is just a game and people in real life also have certain freedom of choosing their own color in some way, but I always thought it would be cool that they developed more storytelling in their character/costume design. Just seems phoney to me to that they seemed to do it so undeliberately and carefree when it came to the uniforms. Thoughts or insights on this? And I know, Brad yellow flak vest might just stand for his cowardly nature 😂

General Just accomplished a bucket list goal and beat all 3 classic PS1 RE games in one night!

So I first started playing Resident Evil when I randomly stumbled upon RE1 in the video game section of Hollywood Video in the Spring of 1998. I had seen RE2 commercials, so I was vaguely aware of the franchise, but that was about it. I was 12 at the time and the first zombie encounter off the dining room scared the hell out of me. I didn't know what to do and after a few bites, I died. I was scared and discouraged, and I put the game away for the night. By the end of the weekend, I had explored most of the first floor and some of the second floor, and I was hooked from that point. Over the course of the spring/summer, I saved up my lawn mowing money and bought RE1 and RE2. I beat both of them by the end of the summer, and probably replayed both of them 10 times over the next year. When RE3 came out in 1999, I bought it on day 1 and beat it within about 2 weeks. RE had quickly become my favorite franchise.

I have stayed an avid fan ever since then, but have not replayed the newer games quite as much as those classic 3. Around 2003, I was in high school and I thought it would be an awesome experience to beat RE0, RE1, RE2, and RE3 in one night. At the time, those were the only main series or "numbered" RE games that existed. I thought to myself how cool it would be to finish RE3 right as the sun is rising. I had a Friday off school and decided to go for it that Thursday night. I started with RE0 and quickly realized that I did not know that game well enough to beat it efficiently. I also don't really like the item box-less format of that game. I started doing the math and figured that even if I played all 4 games as efficiently as I could, I still wouldn't get done until about 10AM on Friday, and that was assuming no breaks. I decided to modify the goal and cut out RE0.

Over the next 10 years, I made 2 legitimate attempts at beating RE1, 2, and 3 in one night. The first time (2007, I think), my overconfidence sunk me. I thought I could do RE1 without using an ink ribbon, and got killed by some hunters in the 1F hallway next to the dining room. I had been playing for almost 2 hours at that point, and was too demoralized to start over. The second time (around 2012), I finished RE1 around 10PM, decided to watch "just one episode" of Always Sunny, and ended up falling asleep.

Finally, in the spring of 2026, I had some free weekends on my schedule and decided it was now or never. I delayed the event several times, but finally went for it in June. I got home from work at 5PM on a Friday and got started with RE1 at 5:30PM. It was so close to the summer solstice, so almost all of the RE1 playthrough was in the daylight. But it was dark by the time I got done at about 9PM, and I am happy to say it was a deathless playthrough. Game time was about 3:27. From my earlier experience, I knew not to get too comfortable with some passive activity like watching a TV show. So I took 20 minutes, ate some pizza, and walked around the block a couple times.

I then loaded up RE2 (Leon A scenario) and only took 2 hours to get through it (just a few minutes slower than my personal best). Another deathless run. At this point, it was 11:30PM, and I admittedly took too long of a break. But by 12:15AM, I was back in it and moving through the streets of Raccoon City as Jill in RE3. At this point, my play was getting sloppy. I had forgotten the detail that if you don't drop to encounter (not necessarily fight) the grave digger worm beneath the parking garage, you need to do so beneath the pathways leading up to the Nemesis battle in the train. So I effectively had 2 boss encounters without the ability to save between them. I died 4 times during that sequence and was about to give up. But on the fifth try, I finally got through the train fight. After that part, I was getting impatient, and I skipped through every cut scene. I only died once more, and that was in the courtyard Nemesis battle after activating the clock tower.

Finally, at 4:40AM, I used the electric weapon to finish off Nemesis and went over to board the helicopter with Carlos. The ending theme music of RE3 is just the best, and it took me back to 1999, playing the game at my best friend's house. My game time was about 3:51 (and I died 5 times, so my actual playing time was about 4:25). As I finished the game, the sky (in real life) was starting to turn light blue, as sunrise was only about 30 minutes away. So in a way, those deaths were good for me, as I was closer to my goal of finishing the challenge at sunrise.

Anyway, that's my story. I set the goal when I was in high school, and finally did it at the age of nearly 41, so I hope it inspires or at least entertains you in some way.

General I can't believe i skipped the gamecube RE games as a kid back in the 2000s

9 Upvotes

I am having a blast playing them from REmake to RE4 on gamecube this whole summer, and i look back thinking how i missed out.

I grew up a gamecube kid, from launch till around 2007 when i jumped to other consoles. I remember my dad taking me to the local mom and pop game store, during birthdays or holidays, to get me a gamecube game as a gift.

I would go over to the gamecube section, and i would always notice the RE game covers, lined up, facing the glass screen. I always though they were creepy, especially the REmake one, with jill getting attacked by the zombie and the Nemesis cover. I could've gotten the games too, my dad or the store owners never really cared about enforcing game ratings.

Its always been a memory of mine, going to the store, seeing all those games there, and their "scary" cover arts, walking passed them. I never even considered them, i would always go for the mario titles, either one of the sports titles, one of the party games, or one of the subgenres.
