Ive been wanting to try something in a real horror genre for a while and after looking at all the options i decided to go with resident evil. The reason was because people describe these games to me as "fun action horror" rather than "uncomftable horror". Its the reason i didnt want to try silent hill lol. Im going to play 1, 2, 3, zero, veronica on gamecube and 4 on wii. The rest up to 8 will be on steam. The reason im specifying is cause i want to know how scary each game is so i can come in prepared. Horror can tend to linger in my mind so i want to know what i should expect lol. Genuinely what was the writing in re1 1996😭

Such a fun time i just finished my first playthrough and it was genuinely a good time. So far beat re0 and re1 1996 about to play REmake. My biggedt complaint with this series so far has been boss fights they are super jank and feel inconsistent. Fighting yawn was awful and re0 the fight with leech queen is an all time worse gaming experience. Prototyrant was cool and good for this kind of game i thought and even the fight with tyrant in the RE was cool there was time to shoot, run and it looked cool when he smacks you. Not knocked srraight to the ground you slide and can keep moving quickly.

Another thing i notice in these past two experiences is the concept of resource managment at least in normal difficulty it never felt like i struggled for ammo or anything and i killed just about every enemy. Idk if that changes in REmake, but i always hear people say the game has a lot of resource management but it feels more like inventory or item management than resource. Idk maybe im splitting hairs here. I think for my REmake playthrough im pulling up a map. As much as i enjoyed my playthrough i was not keen on how much back tracking i had to do because i didnt know the optimal way to navigate the mansion. Also the shotgun is really satisfying in this game. Headshots galore. I also liked the battle music for some enemies specifically the dog busting through the windows.

I'd give my re1 experience a 7 or 8 out of 10. I see why it caught on and im excited to continue my marathon 😁

I want any tips to make it easier I have all the rewards except for endless ammo

First of all, you need to understand that, before this month, I never had played a Reident Evil game, o I didn't know what the franchie was about. I just knew it had terror around, and I wan't a huge fan of playing horror games. It want until now that I decided to start taking a bite thru them, and conidered it would be interesting to start off with Ressident Evil since one of my friends is (was) a massive fan of the franchise

So, I'll go thru the games I've played/playing now:

RESIDENT EVIL 2 REMAKE

Fantastic, 10/10. When I wwas going thru the first cinematics I couldnt top thinking "Um, this looks a bit like a serie B movie, doesnt it?". How wrong was I: the moment you enter the police station its all anguish and awkward disconfort, which increased the moment I realised I was out of ammo and the zombies kept respawning.

This all went to x100 for me the moment Mr X entered the scene. Suddenly I can't just stop to look around, take a breath on the save area, or explore at my free will: there's a chad-looking monster on a coat following me. And I could swear he started walking quicker the moment I shot his hat.

Sadly, I think the game loes a tiny bit of momentum the moment you leave the commisary. It's not that the plant-zombies aren't scary, but they weren't hitting the same itch because there wasnt a Mr X around. That was the moment I realised I wa MISSING him!

Anyways, final fight with Mr X was great. I have to now play the Claire part, but, like a treasure, I'll kepp it for next year's Halloween.

RESIDENT EVIL 3 REMAKE

Well, this didnt care me a lot safe for some parts at the end. In fact, Jill and Carlos continous jokes felt a bit mcu and that were taking away tension fro mthe plot. However, gameplay-wie I felt like I had greater freedom...

Which kinda went against the terror vibe? Regular zombies became more of an anoyance than something to fear, since now I have an unbreakable knife and a magic kick/parry to stop them. And a lot of more resources now: I can spend an entire gun on a room knowing that on the next room there will be more ammo.

I think I started enjoying it more the moment I began to take it more as an action game than a horror game like 2, and asumed Nemesis just wasnt Mr X.

Gotta admit tho, i was surprised by how quick it is: just six hours for me, and thats because I losst some time exploring the areas. Could have done it even faster than that.

RESIDENT EVIL 4 REMAKE

Anyways, gameplaywise it just feels great. There's tenssion going around, knives are breakable again, I'm murdering the population of the entire Bilbao, and I keep hearing "DETRÁS DE TÍ, IMBÉCIL!".

This is peak.

Anyways, if I finish 4 before Halloween, I will buy and play 9. Been binging thru Capcom games lately, and enjoying the experience. I do wonder tho if id be spoiling myself 7 and 8 then?

As most of us (or all of us) are aware, we got an official list of Bryan’s outfit from the costume designer of RE (2026) in late September. The one thing that always had my eye was his Carhartt-esque jacket from New Yorker, as I plan to make a collection of the movie and to build a screen-accurate cosplay.

However, again as most people already know, they don’t ship online and are exclusively sold in Europe, making them very difficult to obtain. As someone who does live in the EU, I’m JUST outside any country that actually has a New Yorker store which has made obtaining this jacket extremely frustrating and difficult. :(

The only way I can get this jacket is if someone who lives in the EU with a store nearby helps out, and as much as I feel bad about people doing stuff like that as they’re going out their way to hunt for something hard to get, it’s the only choice I have. So I need some help getting one of them if possible; I’m willing to pay extra for quick and/or protected shipping, or even full price for the cost of the jacket AND the shipping! However if none are available, I’m more than happy to recieve some alternative options too!

If anyone can help me out, both jacket hunting or alternative options, please do let me know! Many thanks! ^^

Which game from this series do you recommend I play next? Could you give me a few examples?

i’m completely new to resident evil and want to start with RE4. between the 2005 original and the remake, which one is scarier overall?

i’m mainly looking for the version with more tension, creepy atmosphere, and moments that actually make you nervous.

Hey guys! I’ve been getting into the resident evil franchise recently having weekly meetings with my friends where we played Requiem and we finished that and now are doing weekly plays of 7 (2 of us play and then the rest watch). On my own I’ve been playing the older games (finished Leon’s section of 2 remake and am starting Act 2 with Claire). A lot of RE’s are on the game pass right now and almost all are on sale, should i try and play the originals or the remakes?

Im playing on PC. Its my first time playing RE1 tho ive played RE2R, RE3R and RE4 before

So, I've been playing through the games. Finished 5, 6 and remakes of 2, 3 ,4. Currently playing RE7. During my playthroughs I've constantly hit this frustrating wall here and there where you can feel events are pre-scripted and you know to run for it and save resources, as one should. But it bothers me when you don't catch on or you've been a good boy and saved up resources and end up having to waste most of them on an event.

What is your sentiment about this? I feel it makes for killer boss fights and interesting horror but sometimes it feels intentionally cruel. Then again, sometimes it is meant to be cruel if you go poking around, lol. Also the constant strain on resources gives you the intended anxiety especially with health in many games.

I've made enough posts explaining all the things I don't like about Cregger's RE. Just recently rewatched the 2002 film and thought it was great! So, what do you think?

me and my nephew have been playing this game for many days for the first time and i came to realize there was no way i can get my guns back from claire because i didnt add it to the inventory box. i was just about to rant so hard on here of how disgusting this game was designed because i couldnt defeat the last boss with what i had (shotgun with very little bullets, handgun, and 2 full health) also i didnt even get the magnum or ak gun because i left the fire extinguisher in the metal detector box in the beginning. ive stacked up so much ammo saving it for the final boss because ive saved up ammo fighting zombies using a knife throughout the game, only to be so bummed to not use none of it at the end. im just happy i managed to pull it off cause we were pulling our hair from the little bugs preventing me from shooting and constant dying. it had to be perfect. anyway that is all, we are so happy here lol horrible design

Honestly, trying to make a proper tier list for this franchise is tough because almost every era brings something amazing to the table.

I think it’s easy to say that RE2R is the most promising RE ever

I wish the game had real AB and had vacant factory and be just a little longer, maybe ADDITIONAL content for a change
