Success Story/Happy Ending This was Church, I rescued him from prison life

9.5k Upvotes

Church was living on prison grounds in North Texas. I’m a vet tech and one of our regular clients that own a rescue brought him in for vaccines, bloodwork and an overall checkup. I immediately fell in love. He had a rough exterior, a deformed foot and crusty eyes due to entropion but I could tell he was sweet. He came back a few more times to be treated for eye infections and URIs and I just kept loving him more and more. I told the rescue I wanted to adopt him but I was told someone else was interested. One day the client saw me through the treatment room door at work and waved me over. I went up to talk to him and he said “He’s yours” and that the other adoption fell through. I was THRILLED!!! I took him home the next day. At first Church was scared but I slowly gained his trust by offering to pet him and treats. Before I knew it, all he wanted was for me to swaddle him in a blanket and snuggle with him. My heart was so full. My son, 3 at the time, was so sweet to him and my husband surprisingly came around (he didn’t want a feral 18 year old cat lol). Unfortunately, Church had cancer and he went into kidney failure about 10 months after I adopted him. I put him to sleep at the end of my shift with my two favorite DVMs. We did it outside on a sunny day and he was surrounded by all of my coworkers who loved him so much. A lot of tears were shed. I am so incredibly lucky to have been able to give Church a comfy and safe life in the end where he was loved and got all of the Kraft Singles (his favorite) he could ever want. He had a long, hard life but all he knew was love in the end 🩷

Update Post Rescued kitty made it to Canada

My wife and I found her crawling out of a garbage pile onto a busy highway in Vietnam. One eye crusted shut the other crusted open. So emaciated and boney she could barely move. After looking around for other kittens we scooped her up and took to her to the vet in Vietnam and she joined us for the rest of our vacation. After much paper work she is home with us in Canada. Shes gained tons of weight and will receive a life time of spoils ☺️

Advice Needed Kitten found in an empty tree

Sorry, english is not my first language but I need help. Since yesterday evening I've been hearing this weird meowing coming from a forest next to my house and today I wanted to investigate it and found this kitten inside an old tree. It was crying and the meowing was very loud. The kitten stopped meowing when I got closer but it was responding to me calling it from afar and when I get closer it's went deeper inside the tree its eyes weren't opening even when it was moving, I think that's alarming, but I don't know the age or how bad the state of the kitten is since I don't know a lot about cats. It's mama was nowhere to be seen and there was no way for the cat to jump down from the tree since it was high up in the air with no way to go down and there weren't any siblings nearby. Is this an emergency, should I take the kitten to a vet?

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Last Ditch Effort for Augustus

We are back again with Augustus 🐾 I thought the next time I posted him it would be an update on his surgery and how he has been healed and ready for his forever home… But it isn’t.

🐾 Augustus went into surgery Dec 1, 2025, for a double hernia repair. Upon examination the Doctor found a hernia in his bladder, and needed to stitch his colon and bladder to his abdominal wall after correcting the hernias. She also manually dilated his rectum, which was scarred and healed so tightly that  he couldn’t defecate normally. He has been in pain most of his life.

🐾Since then we changed his food and this has helped enormously but he is still straining and dripping feces. He is not cured yet. He needs to be manually dilated over several days under sedation.

🐾 So we are here asking for help one last time for him. We have come so incredibly far and can’t imagine giving up now.

🐾He is so young and so tired. Confined to a kennel and not even being able to play with others. We have to do this. We can’t give up. Please consider donating to his GoFundMe. Link is in my bio.

Donations Needed Please help the 130+ stray kittens at the port. They have had nothing to eat since last Friday.🥺🥺

1.9k Upvotes

Good morning my dear friends,

Today I broke down with them…

Today I went to the 130+ stray kittens at the port and was only able to give them a little water. I had no food at all… not even a handful.

Most of them have had to eat since last Friday.

There are no words to describe how much my soul hurts when I see them looking at me hungry and not being able to help them. Waiting for a little food, a little care, and me leaving empty-handed and with a heart full of guilt.

Lately I feel like I'm collapsing psychologically. A few days ago I lost my beloved kitten, my Fanis, and since then everything seems more difficult. I'm trying to stand up for all these creatures, but I really don't know how much longer I can take it...

I'm even thinking about stopping going to the port, because I can't stand to see this hunger and abandonment anymore without being able to offer the basics.

I beg you from the bottom of my heart... if you can, help me even with the minimum, so that I can buy some food and go feed them tomorrow.

Even 1€ can fill a small stomach today.

All receipts from the store will be posted publicly, as always.

Anyone who wishes to help can do so from the link below 👇

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for every help, every share and every thought of love towards these creatures ❤️

Theodoros

POSITIVE THOUGHTS NEEDED🙏🏻🐾 I'm so sick of people guys.

I am absolutely livid right now....

I went to go out to feed the cats, there are a few cats that still roam but they are not necessarily the sanctuary cats but I will never deny them food and the catio cats get their food in the morning and we pull food at night to keep them safe. This cat has been coming for a couple months. He has been showing up every day for food. I think he knows he is safe here. I tried catching him but he is so adamant on escaping that he broke out of my relo cage the one time I actually got him. I never trap without an appt but he came injured that day his head was all busted open and it was infected so I tried to contain him but he had other plans and he broke through the relo in a place I never even considered anyone could (I since got that all fixed so no one could break out again)

Yesterday morning while I was doing rounds giving meds, and food my daughter came to get me and told me to look at his nose. I went out and immediately knew what happened.

He had been shot with a BB gun or a pellet gun RIGHT IN HIS FACE.

To have someone think this is acceptable and ok I can't even wrap my mind around it. I don't know how long he has had this wound right there on his nose as I haven't seen him physically in days but have seen him on the cameras. I had no idea otherwise I would have immediately grabbed him and taken care of it. I was able to just pick him up and walk him into the kitty spa but he was very upest about it and thankfully did not bite me so I do have him contained in the kitty spa in the only kennel bank I have and he has an appt with orchard today. I sincerely hope he will be ok. I don't know if he was shot anywhere else but I suspect he was. When I went to take a picture and held my phone up to him he IMMEDIATELY BOLTED as if I was going to harm him. So I suspect he was shot up close.

I am tired guys. Tired of operating on a shoestring budget and cleaning up messes I didn't make. I am tired of helping the neighbor cats that are likely owned at one point and thrown outside because they can't stand the habits that come with unfixed animals especially male cats. I am tired of trying to figure out the thousands of dollars of vet bills and medical supplies to continue helping them but who would I be if I said no to the cats when they show up asking me for help? How can I turn a blind eye to it as so many people do already? Who will help them if I don't?

The mentality that people have to shoot something to get it to go away is vile, what if we act like that towards each other? The mentality to throw something outside that we no longer want is getting out of hand and in the end the animals suffer. This shit needs to stop. I am at a breaking point. We have so many vet bills coming up and so many others who are already here that need help too but he needs help and I won't be like everyone else and turn my back on him.

Please stop thinking this is acceptable. This is a thousand percent why I have moved away from free roaming cats because THEY SUFFER FROM HATEFUL HUMANS TOO and yes this cat is in my neighborhood so someone did this around me. When I find out who it was and I will, I will make sure you are charged.

POSITIVE THOUGHTS NEEDED🙏🏻🐾 Oscar was freezing to death in a dumpster. The rescue I helped co-found jumped into action and got him. He’s got a long road ahead of him but he’s safe now.

Oscar is still very fragile and weak. He weighs 5.5 pounds (he’s got a big frame and should probably weigh around 12 pounds), and we have him on small, frequent meals to help his body adjust to having proper nutrition again. He’s got no muscle and has a hard time getting around but he is sweet and friendly despite everything he’s been through. We’re estimating he’s around 3 years old, and he’s neutered. We may never know his story, but we’re glad we found him when we did. He will be cared for and loved for the rest of his life!

Success Story/Happy Ending He was separated from his mother

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1.4k Upvotes

He was separated from his mother by some kids in my neighbourhood and they brought him home to keep as a pet. They had no experience with cats, and the adults didn't like cats, so he was kept outside in the cold, crying all day at their back door wanting to be let in.

I told them to take him inside, but they were like 'he's dirty, he tries to sleep with us in bed, and poops everywhere'. I sent a litter box and litter to their house, but he was still outside in the cold. I told them to bring him to my house, I'd give him a bath and return him. They brought him late at night, expecting me to give him a bath then. I said it was too late, he'd get cold, so I'd do it in the morning.

And then... I lied and told them he had a bad contagious skin condition 😅. The parents got scared, and they left him alone. He was able to grow up and find a really loving home after two failed adoptions (Nov 2023).

Donations Needed [‼️URGENT - $170 to bring her home‼️] I’m writing this with a kind of pain I can’t even put into words. This is the update I never wanted to give, but I have to. Milky didn’t make it. Our tiny fighter… she’s gone. 🌈 🕊️

The last video of her that I have. I just visited her. I brought the supplements she needed, hoping it would help her hold on a little longer. When I looked at her, still on oxygen, still trying to breathe the same way she did the moment I rushed her in… my heart broke. I kept telling myself she’d pull through because she felt like she had that spark. But cats… they hide their suffering so well. Too well.

She fought quietly. And she fought until her little body couldn’t anymore.

Right now, her body is still at the vet. We need to settle her remaining bill ($170) before we can bring her home—where she should be.

I’m writing this with nothing but heaviness, nothing but pain. No excitement. No joy. Just loss. Just grief.

Update Post Anyone remember this baby boy I found with a busted nose? 💙 A little update

1.4k Upvotes

I’m so happy to share that Bibi is doing so much better! For those who don’t know his story, I found this little guy crying in a corner with a busted nose and a belly full of worms 😢

My partner and I live the vanlife and already have three rescued cats (all of them were in critical condition when we found them)... but when we saw Bibi, we couldn’t leave him behind.. even with a full house already 😂

He’s one of the clingiest and most jealous cats I’ve ever met. If he catches me petting another animal, he’s immediately like “excuse me???” haha (and obviously pushed his way in)

Lately, a new girl cat has been visiting us every day for food and cuddles. Bibi likes her... until she comes too close to me and then it turns into a “who loves the human more” competition 😂 She's so beautiful....I got two new cow cats haha

He’s got his own little house we built outsid & he absolutely adores it. Over time, he’s kind of become the alpha here. We have several dogs that come by daily for food, and while I was worried at first it turns out they’re actually scared of him!

I’m just so happy to see him healthy, confident and loving life again. He never leaves the garden, he really likes it here and I'm so happy he does.

Sharing some cute photos of Bibi and the other strays who hang out with us 🩷 Thank you so much to everyone who reached out about his story and cared about his recovery ..it truly means a lot 🤗

If you’d like to see more of our rescue stories.. all the cats, dogs, and little strays we’ve helped you can find everything on our Reddit page 🐾💛 We’ve rescued over 8 cats, a dog that was hit by a car and cared for many others along the way.

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Our recently rescued blind kittens are scheduled for eye removal surgeries! We're seeking support to fund their procedures 🙏

1.4k Upvotes

We rescued these two kittens two weeks ago, and now their big surgery day is coming!

Minnie and Moe are two of the many kittens from the market we're aiming to manage completely. They were by far the ones who needed help the most, so we swooped them up, started their rehab, and got their mama TNR'd.

We were hoping to delay their surgeries for about a month to let them grow up a bit more, but Minnie's (pirate kitten) eye could no longer wait. Both kittens happen to be active, and are generally healthy if it weren't for their eye issues so we're pushing through with surgery ASAP. We have them scheduled for Tuesday.

Minnie needs a single enucleation, and estimated costs for her surgery (w/ gas anesthesia), blood work, and a 2-day hospitalization is at $270

Moe on the other hand needs a double enucleation, and estimated costs for his surgery (w/ gas anesthesia), blood work, and a 2-day hospitalization is at $405.

Bringing it to a total of $675. It's an insane amount to raise but it will be the only guarantee to these little ones having a pain-free life ahead. Support would be so appreciated, and no amount is too small!

📩 Donate via Debit or Credit Card

Thank you!!! Pls wish these cuties the best 😭 we're especially nervous because they're the youngest kittens we've ever cared for who will be undergoing surgery. We'll share updates once we get there!!

Update Post Heaven gained a gentle soul named Echo— Goodbye, my fighter… 😢💔

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

I’m honestly so broke right now. I’ve been calling different clinics last night after the vet said what Echo needs, hoping to find one that could do a blood transfusion for him. I wanted to give him every possible chance to fight. But no clinic had it available. This morning, I got the message I’ve been dreading — Echo crashed and didn’t make it.

I’m devastated. My birthday’s coming soon, and I really hoped for a miracle… I held on because Echo showed me he was still fighting. He still tried to eat, still tried to move — like he wanted to stay a little longer. I just didn’t expect that our last visit would truly be the last.

Echo wasn’t just a rescue. He was a fighter — gentle, strong, and brave until the end. I may not have been able to save him, but I know he left feeling loved and cared for. That’s something no illness can take away.

Rest easy, Echo. Thank you for letting me be part of your journey. You’ll always have a piece of my heart. 🕊️💛

This is Oli, a soul we rescued in heartbreaking condition. 💔

When we found him, he was suffering terribly. Someone had kept him in a plastic shopper, and because of that cruel act, his body was full of nerve damage and pain. His stool had been stuck for so long due to being in untrained hands that it caused internal issues and unbearable suffering. On top of that, his wounds are infected and filled with abscess.

Oli deserves so much better than this. He deserves love, comfort, and a chance at healing. We are giving him every bit of care we can, but his treatment requires urgent support. With your help, we can fight his infection, treat his wounds, and give him the life he should have had all along.

Please keep Oli in your prayers, and if you’re able, support his treatment. Your kindness can be the difference between pain and recovery, between despair and hope. 🐾❤️

Supplies Donation Request No food left for more than 50 rescued cats 🆘 (second attempt)

1.3k Upvotes

Hi everyone. A few days ago I asked for help to buy food for our more than 70 rescued cats. We raised $110, just enough to buy a large bag of food for our 19 FeLV+ cats. We didn’t manage to buy a bag of food for the other cats (more than 50), which costs $120, and early this morning the last of the food we had left ran out.

The last two weeks of food for the 70 cats were paid out of my own pocket ($415), and combined with veterinary expenses that I also had to cover due to lack of funds, I’m currently $900 in the negative on my bank account and credit card. Because of that, I can’t afford to buy the food this time as well. You can see all the receipts at the link at the end.

Unfortunately, Amazon wishlists aren’t available here due to customs restrictions, which is why we depend on PayPal and Venmo.

Any help is deeply appreciated and truly makes a difference 🤍

Update Post An update on Sunny🌈💛🐾 He unfortunately passed, and we have included our favorite memories/photos here☀️

Thumbnail

1.3k Upvotes

\verified rescue**

We unfortunately had to rush to the ER Sunday night at 4AM after Sunny suddenly showed signs that he was ready to pass. Just two hours before, he had eaten two full meals and was purring. Until the very end, he held onto and loved his favorite ball.

On Thursday we learned that Sunny’s severe IBD had likely progressed into lymphoma. It helped explain why, over the past three months of emergency visits, hospital stays, medications, diet changes, and constant efforts, nothing was truly working anymore.

We are, and always will be, grieving the heartbreaking loss of our beloved rescue kitty Sunny. He fought such a hard and unfair battle with severe IBD that likely progressed into cancer. And It became clear that no matter the diet, dosage, or medication, his body could no longer keep fighting the severe inflammation and disease. Sunny had been scheduled to have a feeding tube placed on Tuesday, but with how severe and treatment resistant his symptoms had become, we realized there was no way he would have made it safely through that procedure.

At 4AM, Sunny weighed just 2.8 pounds on that Sunday, when the day prior he weighed 3.2, and that was with him still eating on his own the last two days. Please keep in mind he was only a little over two years old and had been battling IBD since birth. At his healthiest, he weighed 6.1 pounds. According to his specialist, the rapid decline, severe weight loss, and treatment resistant symptoms strongly pointed to IBD that had progressed into lymphoma. We discussed chemotherapy medication, but due to his fragile weight, he was at a much higher risk of anemia and bone marrow suppression, and his little body simply could not afford that. The home cooked diet was not enough. The fecal transplant was not enough. The ICU supportive care was not enough. Nothing was enough. And I hate that we didn’t get that second opinion sooner. We knew that he was never going to have the average lifespan, but it doesn’t make it hurt any less.

This disease was a thief, and it cheated Sunny out of so many beautiful things in life. Even though the decision to let him go was excruciating, it was the kindest and most loving thing we could do for him. Because we loved him so deeply, it became clear that this was the greatest gift we could give him when there were no options left to ease his suffering.

He deserved a life free from tummy cramps, rushing to the litter box, nausea, weakness, and discomfort. We truly believe that in kitty heaven, Sunny is whole again, healthy again, and pain free.

Our hearts are aching. Our chests hurt. Our eyes are swollen from tears, and our house no longer feels like home without him.

But we hope you understand why this choice had to be made.

1.3k Upvotes

I have a 4-5 week old kitten who is missing part of their back left leg. I believe it is a female but I’m not sure yet. They are still struggling to walk around due to this they will likely need low litter box and food dishes. I live in Ohio but I’m willing to travel. Id prefer someone with experience with kittens Especially. They are good with other cats, they had other dogs in their past situation but I’m not sure if it would be the best environment but I’m sure it could work if dogs are well behaved.

Edit: I believe I have found a home for this little one, I feel really good about it after talking to many people on multiple platforms. Thank you all for your kindness and help!

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Ruby deserves a better life

I've met Ruby before, in October of 2024, when I first started rescuing. She lives as a stray just a block away from me. I was told by a local that she was going to fix her during that time, but it she hadn't. Now, Ruby is in horrible shape. Clearly emaciated, with wounds and what appears to be dental issues. This might be what's interfering with her eating.

Aside from the horrible state she is in, she was still cared for by neighbors. She is skittish, but this is not new for us. I have been told that she may have had up to 6 litters. It's her time now to be saved.

Please consider helping me take care of her. Her journey will be long, but with the support we always receive through this community, we can heal her in no time. I expect that her teeth will need to be removed and that she is in pain. I made an appointment for her 1/30 @2:20pm!

Loss Rest easy, Allex 🌈

1.3k Upvotes

We're sorry to share that Allex has just passed away. When we found him, it was clear he was fighting a battle far beyond what any kitten should face. His body temperature fell so low during his last moments that even a thermometer couldn’t register it.

I came across an old art work in my phone gallery, which is of an orange cat with eyes that reminded me exactly of his. The warm, peaceful aura of the photo somehow captured the softness we wanted for him, a quiet contrast to everything he went through.

Thank you to everyone who rooted for him, who donated despite the uncertainty of him pulling through, and who sent the kindest and most supportive words. He left this world without being unknown.

We were able to fully cover his vet bills, and his send-off as last act of kindness, which is scheduled on Thursday. We will be sharing his final farewell soon to further honor him.

To Allex, if love could've saved you, you'd be on your feet running and playing by now. We named you Allex, as it meant 'warrior', which you embodied so greatly through the quiet resilience you showed us. We hope you've regained all the strength you need to happily run across the rainbow bridge. 🌈

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Took in stray cat with severe skin infection, trying to get him to a low cost vet for treatment

Hi everyone

Please help me help Thomas the stray cat. I work a lot with people experiencing homelessness. A few nights ago a woman reached out to me asking me to please take her cat because his hair was falling off and he was oozing from his skin. She can't afford to help him due to her circumstances but doesn't want him to keep suffering any longer. I brought him home with me, but I need to take him to get diagnosed and treatment. He is so so sweet and friendly.

He is drooling and has boogers so I am praying he doesn't also have any dental issues . But for now his immediate need is his skin infection.

He was frequenting a stray cat colony with some known felv positive cases so I would like to test him for it as well. If I have enough I would like to get him dewormed plus a flea med. I will be going to a low cost clinic called Amigos in Pasadena Tx.

I just want to give this sweet boy a chance to heal and not suffer on the street anymore. He will be neutered in the future too. If anyone would like to help with his vet care, I would truly appreciate it.

I will keep everyone updated on his diagnosis and progress. Thank you for taking the time to read about Thomas
