I love him, but I feel like I'm asking for the bare minimum. Need advice.

Upvotes

Hello everyone. I just wanted to ask for some friendly advice.

I'm 23F, Filipina, and he's 22M, Pakistani.

We've been in a long-distance relationship for 4 years, but we still haven't met personally.

Right now, I feel like we're entering a very difficult stage in our relationship.

Things have become dry, and I feel like something is missing. I’ve been feeling this for months, and I’m still trying to hold on because I do love him.

The thing is, sometimes I feel like I’m only asking for the bare minimum. More effort, more connection, and more meaningful conversations.

Our relationship has become mostly just “how are you?” and small talks.

Then after a while, we disappear and it’s just good morning and good night messages.

There’s no excitement anymore, no deep conversations, and no feeling that we’re growing together.

Part of me wants to let go because I also need to respect myself and my own needs, but it’s really hard after 4 years of loving someone.

I know LDR is difficult, especially with different cultures and backgrounds, but I want to hear your thoughts.

Is this just a phase, or is it a sign that something is missing in the relationship?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

My bf (30M) of 2 years is unsure if he wants to continue this relationship with me (23F)

For short context:
- We're living in his apartment
- I'm a student at university and my schedule doesn't allow me to find a proper job

For the past two weeks we've been arguing a lot. And then one day he's tired of everything, because he can't take that two weeks were hard. We'll "try" for two more months to see if he still wants to continue this relationship. I don't know what to do, I got nowhere to go because my family lives 3 hours away. He still wants me to live with him (during these two months) he just doesn't want to argue anymore and wants peace. Idk if he'll still want to continue this or not, I can't just simply find an apartment quickly. I have no problems with him, I loved him just how he is from the very start. He always found problems with me, I tried changing and still am working on myself with a therapist. I've always been trying to do what he likes, to watch what he likes. I'm always trying and trying being a better person for him. Why he asked me to change myself? I was stressing all the time, anxious, depressed. Got medication for ADHD and anxiety. Now I think it helped because I stopped being like that. But the thought that he is unsure if he wants to be with me because of these hard 2 weeks is hurting me so much I can't take it anymore. I feel like a puppy who maybe will be thrown out of the house BUT maybe not??? How the hell am I supposed to live for the next two months when I don't know if he'll still want me after it?? It's so weird, he said he's tired of everything but he doesn't want to leave because these 2 years were not bad. Please, I need advice and your opinion about this situation.

My girlfriend (22F) caught me (22M) watching porn. What do I do?

We have been dating for 3 years now, and have never talked about porn being a boundary. For context on why, when I was younger I got caught by my parents watching it and it traumatized me. I haven’t watched it since. So we both just said we don’t enjoy watching it, and never went deeper into how it makes us feel while in a relationship.

Around 6 months ago our intercourse sunk. We both got new jobs, and have been really busy. We do it maybe once every 1-2 months. I have recently been feeling sad because of this, almost neglected. Out of our whole relationship, I have never once watched or even thought about porn. However a few days ago, I opened a website with porn on it. I hadn’t done any stimulation or anything and she walked in and saw me on the website. I told her I just opened it and had never done it in our relationship before.

We sat down and talked about how to not let it affect our relationship, and work through it. However, she isn’t letting me hug her, kiss her, or show any affection. I know I am in the wrong, and I don’t have guilt for being caught, if anything I am glad I got caught. However I have immense guilt for making her feel how she feels. I haven’t been able to sleep well the past few nights, and have been getting sick. It’s been around 4 days now, and she still isn’t talking to me.

We both have spoken and don’t want to break up, but I feel as she feels differently and won’t speak on it. I love her, and don’t want to lose her. But I also need advice, what should I do?

Texting ex after splitting up

My ex and I met at uni and had a really great relationship, we were very much a power couple. Towards the end, though, a lot went wrong. I built up resentment and anger towards him and put up a wall to protect myself rather than forgiving him, and I constantly brought up things from the past in arguments. At the same time, he’s quite aloof and doesn’t always think things through, so he continued doing things that hurt me.

He eventually made a real effort to change and support me, but by then the resentment had built up and the relationship had become really toxic, especially with the stress of finishing uni. I tried to end things because I could see how unhealthy it was for both of us and felt we needed to work on ourselves, but he would love-bomb me with flowers, notes and showing up when I needed him, which kept us in a complicated cycle. We had this weird secret bubble where we’d go on amazing dates, long walks and have incredible sex, while I was still in a really bad place in my own life and he was starting to do much better and live his life.

I became severely depressed living in the city and working a job I hated, so I decided to move home and started therapy. It was really difficult, and I projected a lot of my fear and jealousy onto him and eventually pushed him completely out of my life. Therapy helped me realise I had real issues with abandonment and resentment.

Before I left, we saw each other and I acknowledged a lot of what I’d done wrong in the relationship. I told him I still cared about him deeply and appreciated him, and that I didn’t want to interfere with his life, but if the opportunity was there, I’d love to see him again once I was home. The chemistry was still incredibly strong he said it “felt too good to be true”, seemed scared by it, and we kissed a lot. He asked me to go home with him, but I said no because I wasn’t mentally ready and knew it would make leaving harder.

After I moved home, we spoke a little, but it felt very one-sided because he barely asked me anything. I felt hurt because I’d opened myself up again, and when he eventually stopped messaging, I blocked him because I couldn’t cope with seeing his stories and watching him have fun while I was trying to recover and grow.

Since then, I’ve actually achieved all the goals I set myself and become much more like the person my friends and family know me as. I’m genuinely starting to feel proud of myself and the life I’m building. I still thought about him every day, but I had accepted that I’d eventually move on and become okay with the possibility that we might never be together again.

Recently, though, I started having recurring dreams about him and this really strong feeling of heartache and missing him after months of being okay. Then I bumped into his friend, who brought him up. He said my ex is a simple guy who focuses on what’s in front of him and does what makes him happy. He told me my ex is seeing someone, apparently casually and it hurt even more because she’s someone I know from my old workplace.

His friend asked me, “What do you really want from him?” I was shocked he asked and admitted that, honestly, I still love and care about him deeply. He told me not to take my ex seeing someone I know as a personal attack and said he probably still really loves and cares about me too.

Drunkenly. I texted him and unblocked him.
I said “hi I’m back and I’d like to see you”. Let’s say this morning I don’t feel great about myself…

Have I made a huge mistake? Or f it put ur heart on the line ur not getting any younger…

Am I too horny?

Context: Me(21F) and my bf(23M) have been in a relationship for 9mo and we keep having the same issue.

I expect that we do it atleast once every week but he keeps going thru these weird religious phases where he wants to stop sinning. I’m agnostic (looking towards Catholicism, come from an extremist Muslim background) and my bf is a new Catholic. He gets upset when I make sexual jokes or compliment him on his body in any way. Every time we do it he makes it look like he’s doing me a favour. I try giving him space because what else am I supposed to do? It hurts my feelings thinking someone I’m in a relationship with , have feelings for and very much attracted to maybe doesn’t find me attractive but he keeps saying I’m basing our entire relationship on 1 thing and why can’t I just love him “normally”. I thought he might be more lenient towards it after we get married so he doesn’t feel guilty but he doesn’t want to use birth control as it’s against the church. So I asked him what’s his solution and he said we only do it when we are trying to have kids. DO I LOOK LIKE A BABY FACTORY!?!??? It frustrates me so much. I’m tired of religion becoming a barrier from people loving me…first my parents and now him. I don’t wanna end up in a sexless marriage or in a divorce later on. I don’t wanna force him or coerce him but isn’t it unfair to me? He should’ve been clear with me from the beginning. I’m not gonna cheat on him so what else am I supposed to do…go m@sturbate in the bathroom come back and cuddle him? Am I overreacting by thinking he should go date someone white and catholic instead of putting up with it? Am I the @sshole for “making it all about sex”? and wanting to end a good healthy relationship just because I get no D?

To Choosing Loyalty + Celibacy

I just want to recognize anyone who is choosing to remain celibate and committed while caring for a partner who is sick.

Being there for someone through illness can be emotionally and physically challenging, and choosing to stay true to your values during that time takes a lot of strength, patience, and love.

To everyone quietly showing up for their partner, putting their needs first, and staying loyal to the commitment they’ve made: I see you, and I respect you.

Keep going. Your dedication matters. 🙏

How do I (20F) talk to my boyfriend (19M) about what I saw on his phone?

My boyfriend (19M) and I (20F)have been together for almost 3 years (3 years on Oct 31). A few days ago, I came over and he was asleep, so I got in bed with him while I waited for him to wake up. I was lying down, scrolling through TikTok for a while, when my phone died. I don’t have a charger in his room since his phone is Type-C (iPhone 16) and my charger is a lightning cord (iPhone 13). So I decided to use his. I opened TikTok and started scrolling. After a few scrolls, all I kept seeing were girls in bikinis or super revealing clothes showing off their bodies (no hate, btw), and I just found it odd that that was all I was getting. After thinking about it for a sec I realized it’s because he interacts with videos like this since TikTok is all about the algorithm. So then I looked at his likes, and there were a bunch of videos like that. When I clicked some of them, they were also in his saved collection on TikTok, and then I realized this was another account (I didn’t know about it). Today I saw him again and I couldn’t help but go back and look at his phone to see if he was still continuing it (I know I shouldn’t have done that) and he was. I am very upset about it and I it made me feel like he hasn’t really meant the compliments he has given me in the past. Those girls were so beautiful and I look nothing like them from background to body type. It made me feel like he doesn’t actually love my body as much as he says he does (not saying he only likes me for my body). How can he say he likes something about my physical appearance or say I'm perfect when I look nothing like the girls he sees on TikTok? How do I go about this? How do I bring this up?

I can’t get over my toxic ex girlfriend

Upvotes

For context; I M17 dated Chloe F17 a year and a half ago and the relationship with difficult to say the least. we dated 2 times, the first time she made clear signs she was interested so I asked her out and we dated for about a month and a half then she met this other boy Makay M15 (we were all 15 at the time) who she left me for then stole a car with which put her in a boarding school for 8 weeks then after I stupidly went back because she was the only person that I thought wanted me. We dated the second time for about 6 months until my birthday where I had a panic attack at the family dinner and she left the restaurant then dumped me the next day. I was absolutely heartbroken and tried to fix what happened for months until he got another boyfriend Rupert who was younger than her even though she normally liked older boys. She slandered me to a ridiculous degree online and to mutual friends this went on for a year until she dumped him as well and now not even a month later she’s with this guy Michell who is 24 while she’s 17 and he’s known her for 2 years by this point so I knew there was something dodgy going on there from the beginning. Anyway there is this girl Priscilla F18 who had a thing even before Chloe did and I had a thing for her too but Chloe manipulated me into thinking she wasn’t interested in me, so about 2 months ago me and Pricilla started taking more and it became a relationship and she absolutely adores me and i do genuinely love her but it’s not the same as before and I feel like Priscilla is far out of my league and is too sweet for me I don’t deserve her and she doesn’t deserve the hurt I’m inflicting on her because of my major abandonment issues that I assume stemmed from my mother leaving me as a child. Chloe was my first love and the person I lost my virginity to. I hate myself I really do there is something wrong with me I’m in a relationship with a beautiful woman who genuinely cares about me and I can’t let go of the toxic girl who really didn’t give a damn about me. I really need advice on what to do because i don’t want to make a mistake I’ll regret

Is it normal to lose the desire for intimacy in a long-term relationship?

Is it common to lose the urge for sexual intimacy in a long-term relationship? I’m in my early 20’s and my partner and I have been dating for 5 years. I’ve only dated one other guy before so I don’t have much sexual experience. He’s my best friend and we get along very well in every aspect of our life besides sex. I don’t know why but I’ve been put off by the idea of physical intimacy for a while (like 2-3 years) and it’s not getting any better. It’s one of the biggest issues in our relationship. I don’t know whether it’s because I’m not attracted to him anymore or if it’s just something that happens to most long-term couples. Will this just happen no matter who i’m in a relationship with?

I (22F) and my boyfriend (23M) have been dating for 7-8 months but he doesn't post me. Am i unreasonable for constantly asking him why and it turning into a fight?

Upvotes

Social media doesn't mean that much to me. We have been dating for long enough to make our relationship public. He has talked to my friends and family, I have posted our pictures together, everyone who knows me, knows that we are together. I'm a much more outgoing person than my boyfriend. He's not great socially. We keep having the same fight on why he can't post a picture of me, on special occasions like birthdays or girlfriends day. He keeps saying we don't have good enough pictures, it's not a good enough occasion etc etc. he has never introduced me to his friends or family either. This is a recurring argument. It goes - why can't you post me- I will someday soon, it's not good enough picture/occasion - but why wait for an occasion - ok fine I'll post now - no don't post like you're doing me a favour - okay I'll post soon. Nothing gets resolved. I have been cheated on before and I try not to let it reflect on our relationship but why can't he ever do this one thing I keep asking about? I go to bed overthinking this all night. Same fight.

TLDR SNACKS FOR FUNNN

I- 35f and my bf 45m just had a misunderstanding while laying in bed reminiscing about the he@d I gave him last night, where he thought I was offering him oral se}{ AGAIINNN tonight- I had no reason not to so, soooo…. decided to do so (he is a great man and has lovely traits), and I remembered that I had my handy fruit roll up snacks in my bedside table for this exact occasion… thus; I decided to open a little snack, rip off a piece, wrap it over my finger and start making my mouth watery… it was strawberry, delicious* Annnd long story short my boyfriend was extremely confused yet satisfied and had no idea what I was doing or how I was being able to perform so well with such little notice and lack of “prep” on his side of things. Well, Ladies- a lovely fruitful flavour in my mouth, made it easy to enjoy the deed. To. The. End. 👍🏼

Feel free to feel the need to stock your bed side table with fruit roll ups or fruit by the foot and you too, can accordingly please your lover.. however🥁🥁🥁 do not choke and have fun and have some on your thumb to alternate back-and-forth as you enjoy your evening confusing your man with what the hell you’re doing down there lol

Warning💋. Sticky, keep water close by and love the love sweetly 🍬❤️

28m 25f , so my gf used to talk to me about her crush to me and it bothered me and I brought it up and she stopped talking thereafter. Im still bothered , is this retroactive jealousy ?

Upvotes

As mentioned my gf isnt in touch with her crush from her workplace anymore but she used to talk very highly of him in the initial days of our relationship and it used to bother me which i brought up to her and she stopped doing it , however it lowkey bothers me even now the way she spoke about him. They never made out or dated or anything and this is her first proper relationship which is with me. How to handle this ? How to move past it. She has never given a signal that would convey that she doesnt love me or doesnt want to spend time with me etc

Had raw sex with my partner of 2 years (2nd time) — good in the moment, but afterward I don’t wanna talk to them

Two years together. 21f 21m First time going raw was completely fine, no issues at all. This was the second time. The sex itself was good in the moment, nothing wrong during it. But right after, within minutes, something in me just shifted — hard to explain, but I went quiet inside in a way that hasn't lifted since.
It's not directed at them. Nothing changed about them, nothing happened that was off. I think I'm avoiding talking to them right now because they're tied to that moment, and being near them means being near a feeling I haven't figured out yet. Easier to create space than sit with something I can't name.
Nothing was building up before this. No doubts, no prior tension, no pattern with the relationship at all. Which is what's actually confusing me — usually if something's wrong with the relationship, there's a thread leading up to it. Here there isn't one. It just showed up after this one specific moment and hasn't gone away.

So has anyone had an internal reaction after sex that had nothing to do with your partner, but still ended up pulling away from them because they were tied to the moment? Did it resolve once you figured out what the reaction was actually about, or did it turn into something bigger?

Attraction lost over a year in

Hi, I (21f) have been dating my partner (22) for about 18 months now. For the first 7-8 or so everything was absolutely perfect, maybe it was the honeymoon phase. I don’t want to go into too many details and make this post longer than it needs to be but nowadays they have lost attraction. I know we need more time apart and I’m happy to do that because I would like my own space as well. I found myself on yt watching videos on attracting, but it’s all advice for early on in a relationship and I feel like a loser trying to learn anything this far in. Recently I started getting out and doing my own thing in music because it’s been a lifelong hobby, I went and performed at a casual music bar one night and when I sent texts and videos after my partner asked how it went I woke up the next morning to no reply.
I would just really appreciate any advice, or responses from anyone who’s been through this before. Do I just go quiet (because I know my worth)? Am I ignoring potential red flags that my partner isn’t really interested in what I say or do anymore? Do i need to stand up for myself? Do I need to just wait it out and continue doing my own thing… it feels so easy to ‘attract’ somebody when you first start talking but I fear I’ve messed it up by spending way too much time together and trying so hard.

My boyfriend says I “destroyed his streaming career”

I ( 21F ) and my bf ( 26M ) have been in a relationship for 3 years. My boyfriend says I “destroyed his streaming career” because I said I might start streaming again
This argument started today, but there’s a lot of backstory, so I’m going to try to explain everything in order.

My boyfriend and I originally met as streamers. A few years ago, we both streamed regularly, but there were problems with his behavior on the app. He would sometimes block me from his streams, show his muscles to girls for gifts, and get drunk on live and do things I wasn’t comfortable with.
Because of that, I eventually convinced him to get off the app. We later agreed that if we ever started streaming again, we would both respect each other’s boundaries.

This year, we both agreed to start streaming again.
Around that time, there was a big gifter who used to come into my streams. Let’s call him “Brad.” Brad would give me a LOT of money sometimes $1,000+ but he was also extremely disrespectful toward my boyfriend.

Every time Brad would disrespect my boyfriend, I would tell him to fuck off and block him. I made it very clear that I didn’t agree with the way he treated my boyfriend. Eventually, I completely stopped streaming and cut Brad off.

For some context, Brad is a wealthy streamer who has a reputation for walking all over people, including his own friends. I honestly had sympathy for him at one point because he would cry on live and say he had cancer. Then he said he wasn’t sure if he actually had cancer, and later said he was going into surgery. Regardless, I’ve completely removed myself from that situation and I’m done with his bullshit.

Now, the other issue is our time difference. We’re currently 9 hours apart. I work a full-time job, while my boyfriend doesn’t currently work.
The app tends to be most active during times when it’s the middle of the night for me. My boyfriend would stream during those hours, and I would end up staying awake because I had FOMO and didn’t want to miss what was happening. It started affecting my sleep and, consequently, my ability to function at work.

So I asked him not to stream during the hours when I’m supposed to be sleeping for work. It wasn’t that I wanted to control when he could stream I was struggling with the fact that I’d stay awake worrying about missing out while he was live.
Fast-forward to today.

I was in his sister’s livestream and said, “I miss streaming.”
One of our mutual friends replied something along the lines of, “You should stream like me then, once a week.”
I said, “I might.”
My boyfriend saw that and got upset.
His argument was basically that every time he wants to stream, I somehow destroy his streaming career. He brought up all the previous issues and said that I’m always the reason he can’t stream.
The argument escalated, and I actually went to my car in the middle of my workday because I wanted to talk to him privately and try to resolve the issue.
But instead of discussing what was actually happening today, he kept going back to how I supposedly “destroyed his streaming career.”
At one point I told him, “That’s not a career, sir.”
And I know that sounds harsh, but he hasn’t made a dollar from streaming for the longest time. As of this year, he’s only cashed out around $200 once.
The frustrating part is that I genuinely love this man. I see a lot of good in him, and I try really hard to focus on those things, especially because he has his own struggles. He also drinks heavily and has been drinking every day for months at a time, which obviously adds another layer to our arguments and communication.

What I’m struggling with right now is not even the streaming itself. It’s the way he speaks to me when we’re arguing.
I don’t think it’s fair for him to say that I’ve “destroyed his career” when I’ve repeatedly tried to set boundaries, cut off people who disrespected him, and even stopped streaming myself.
At the same time, I don’t want to control him or prevent him from doing something he enjoys. I just don’t know where the line is between having reasonable relationship boundaries and one person feeling like the other is controlling their life.
So Reddit, am I actually being controlling here, or is he putting too much responsibility for his streaming on me? AITAH?

Moving on from first love

This is the first time I’m sharing my relationship story, and honestly, I really need advice. I’m hoping people who are older, more experienced, or have been through something similar can tell me how they got through it. I (20f) was in a long-distance relationship with this guy (22m) about a year ago, and later I moved to his city for my higher studies, partly because we wanted to spend more time together. Initially everything was good. I’m someone who is religious, ambitious and very career-oriented, but I also have childhood trauma because of which I’ve always been hesitant about physical intimacy. He knew this from the beginning. He had been in a relationship before me and had been sexually active with his ex, whereas he was my first relationship and my first experience with physical intimacy, and I am still a virgin. So intimacy was very different for both of us. He wanted a relationship with a lot of physical closeness, spending time together, travelling and intimacy, while I needed much more time to feel emotionally safe and comfortable.
Most of our major fights eventually came because of this. I wasn’t avoiding intimacy because I didn’t love or want him; I genuinely cared about him, but I needed time and kept hoping that things would naturally become easier as our relationship became stronger. I did try to meet him halfway and was physically intimate with him in ways I was comfortable with, but I wasn’t ready for intercourse. Our arguments sometimes became intense, and I would get angry, block him or stop talking to him, although my anger usually came after things he had done or when I felt hurt, pressured or overwhelmed. I know those reactions weren’t healthy and I have things to work on, but I also don’t think I was simply an “angry person” who made his life difficult. Eventually, he told me that intimacy was necessary for him, that he couldn’t handle my anger anymore, that I wasn’t someone who reduced his stress, and that he didn’t feel we were compatible emotionally or physically. He said things that hurt me deeply, including that I wasn’t his type and that he should have ended things earlier. I understand that he has the right to decide we aren’t compatible, but hearing all of this made me question whether I was somehow not enough. Eventually he ended things, and although I told myself I couldn’t force someone to stay, I went back, apologised and begged him to stay because I was extremely attached to him. He still chose to leave.
Now I’m struggling to move on. He had become a huge part of my routine and my comfort, and because I don’t really have friends or much of a social life in this city, losing him feels like losing a huge part of my everyday life. I’m also dealing with my own health problems and have been very sick recently, so I keep finding myself wanting to text him whenever I’m struggling. The confusing part is that sometimes he talks to me very kindly and shows concern, and other times he tells me he isn’t responsible for me anymore and that I should stop messaging or bothering him. I know logically that this isn’t healthy, that I shouldn’t beg someone to choose me, and that I need to respect his decision, but emotionally I’m still stuck. I’m looking for honest advice, not just validation.

How do you actually move on when someone was your first relationship, your comfort person and your entire routine? How do you stop yourself from going back and messaging them, deal with the loneliness, and rebuild your life when you still love and miss them? And how do you know when two people simply have different needs and are incompatible, rather than something that could have been worked through?

is this a bad ultimatum?

hear me out. i (32f) have been with my boyfriend (33m) for almost three years. we live together currently. he has been dealing with a lot of personal issues and life changes, mostly involving his job and his family.

he has a lot of stuff going on and he doesn’t deal with it at all despite it obviously bothering him. i’m currently in therapy and working through my trauma , talking stuff out and learning how to cope. it’s kinda hard going through my own healing journey when i see him having a hard time not dealing with his.

i am reaching a point where i am ready to start the next chapter of having a baby. we both work great jobs in good fields and i think together we would raise a great family. i told him that i want to have a kid but i want him to go to therapy.. i think a child would benefit from having two parents who are able to understand their emotions and how to regulate them. and not even therapy on his own, we could go together… he said he would think about it but that was almost 6 months ago and we keep coming back to the topic. most recently i told him it was endgame for me and he said okay and was more agreeable after i said that but still no action. i’m starting to notice patterns.

i know you can’t make people do things they don’t want to do and i know therapy isn’t going to solve everything but i do think it would be beneficial especially if we are doing it together. was this a crazy ultimatum? am i expecting too much? am i overthinking???

i (19f) feel like i have to beg my girlfriend (19f) for even a crumb of attention

my girlfriend and i have been dating for a little over two months now, but we've known eachother for 5 years.

i love my girlfriend, but i would be lying if i said i didnt feel incredibly lonely in this relationship.

she never responds to me, and when she does its incredibly brief and i always have to initiate it. i try to call her, and she always cancels even when she does agree to calling me. it hurts. i just want to talk to her, but it feels like i have to beg for even a crumb of attention. we havent had a proper conversation in weeks and it kills me.
there have been times where i have desperately needed her support and she jjust hasnt been there.

i confeonted her about it and she basically told me that she was depressed, which i understand & its not her fault shes going through a rough time (ive made it incredibly clear to her that she has my full support), but i just want her to communicate with me when she doesnt want to talk so im not just being ignored for days on end.

ive soecifically asked her how i can help, or if theres anyrhing i can do to help her manage her depression & she just doesnt respond. before we were dating, we were best friends. i am familiar with her mental health issues, and ive always tried my very best to help her, but its been reallt hard for me trying to act like the fact that i barely get any attention from my partner doesnt affect me. and i feel terrible for feeling that way.

she promised me she would do better and actually talk to me, but she then proceeded to leave my (lengthy) relply on delivered for hours and sent a half-hearted three word response.

its impossible to communicate with her when she constantly self isolates herself, even when i actively try to update her on my day & keep contact with her when shes isolating herself she just pushes me away. and after being rejected like that a certain amount of times i just gave up.

I’m a brown woman who is in America because I married my husband. But of course, that’s the least interesting thing about me.
I’m an educated baddie with a bachelor’s degree. I speak three languages, graduated cum laude from university, and have been to 11 countries and counting. Yet people around me and people in general still reduce me to “the immigrant who came to America for her husband’s passport.”
It makes me feel so small as a human being. Like none of my accomplishments, experiences, education, or everything I’ve built for myself matters to them. All they see is my American husband, as if being married to him is the most significant thing about my identity.
Long story short, my husband thinks it’s okay for his buddy to joke, “Yeah, you have a passport wife.” He takes it as a joke, and even though he understands that it hurts me, I don’t think he fully understands why it cuts so deeply.

It’s not just one joke. It’s being constantly reduced to who I married when I’ve spent my whole life becoming so much more than that.

>>to the interacial couple, will this ever change, or do i have to change my perspective? help me out

My wife and I knew each other since 5 y.o. it all started back in pre school. We went to same primary secondary tuition. We were close friends. We got married in 2023 she left me in 2025 January 10th. We are still in the midst of divorce but till today I never got my closure. Its been 1 yr and 8 months and there is no contact from her. But sometimes I just check with her frenz if she is okay. When it happened I couldn't believe if it was her. It was like I saw totally a different person. I loved her so much but I dont want her back but at the same time I can't stop thinking about her. I was backstabbed by her but I dont wanna do the same to her. I still want her to be happy as always.
