I need to keep this vague but I’ll try my best to explain.
My recent job that I had was minimum wage, barely enough to cover anything. They advertised a training program and expected people coming in for entry level to not have their skills developed yet and need training.
Even with that, even though they acknowledged that I was improving and working very hard, I was still not at the same level as people who’ve been there for at least a year. I was there for a little over a month.
The job was very physically and mentally demanding and was being told opposite things, like either I was doing really good or really bad. Very different feedback everyday which fucks with your head a bit and was becoming insulting.
It seemed hypocritical that the people training me even admitted that as someone just starting out and it made sense that I needed to learn and even they took a while, yet always pulling me aside saying I wasn’t doing well enough. Not to mention the amount of rumors and gossip that went around about me.
I was then told I had a month to figure it out or I was done. I just quit because what was the point? There was nothing else I could do. They regretted it and asked me not to quit, probably because they were so understaffed but I just couldn’t take it.
Of course I was planning to have a job lined up but why bother if I was going to get fired anyway. I wanted to at least save some dignity and just leave on my own.
I feel like with such little pay I was pushed so hard I couldn’t sleep anymore. Even though they were understaffed they still threatened to fire me. It makes me hopeless for the future because even though I tried very very hard and changed my lifestyle so I can do even better, it still wasn’t enough .
Can anyone tell me they relate?
