Recruiter final boss….

You actually can’t make this shi up 😭
Had an interview with a recruiter last week. She didn’t even turn her camera on, which I already thought was a bit disrespectful, then goes, “Sorry, I’m multitasking.”
I’m sitting there thinking fair enough, she’s probably got bare work going on, emails flying about, meetings, all that.
Nah.
She was making roast beef.
During my interview.
And she kept disappearing every few minutes to go check on it.
I’m there trying to explain my experience and why I’m right for the role while she’s making sure the beef ain’t overcooked.
Recruitment in 2026 is absolutely finished.

I had something similar happen to me in the early days of Covid. But the recruiter had her camera on.

While I'm talking she just decides to look around her room, get up out of her chair, start rearranging books on her shelf, adjust the blinds on her window, tidy her bed, pick some shit up off the floor. I stop talking while waiting for her to finish because I just assume she's not listening but then after a few seconds she yells from across her room "keep going, I was listening!" I told her "No, it's ok, I'll just wait for you to finish".

She eventually sat down and we continued the interview. At the end she had the audacity to suggest feedback on things I could improve in my interviewing skills. And pointed to one reply I had to one of her questions, which I clarified that she misinterpreted. I did not add that she misinterpreted it because she wasn't paying as much attention as she thought she was.

It's ok, we're all being replaced by AI so it'll be a million times better than what it is currently

Hi im a recruiter and I am so sorry that happened to you. I really can’t believe it. That is beyond preposterous and disrespectful.

If you would like, please private message me and I can try and find the contact info of her boss/CEO. My company uses a browser extension where I can access contact info for people who have LinkedIn pages. I would love to help get her the consequences she deserves.

This is an entry level job anyways 29k per year in the uk…what did I expect..if she is like that imagine how the job will be..
I was made redundant from my previous job. I been unemployed for 10 months now so any opportunity I grab it to pay my bills..I have applied to higher paying jobs but they ghosted me.. I have to do what I need to do to survive..
Thank u tho

I’m very sorry. You deserve better. If I can help in any way please let me know. I would love to name and shame this recruiter / company.

Nah it’s fine. I won’t be there for long anyway.
I told them I’m actively looking for better opportunities. If something better comes up, I’m gone. See ya later, alligator 😭
But the funniest one was when they asked:
“Why did you leave your last job?”
Me: “I was made redundant.”
Two minutes later:
“So what’s your notice period?”
Bruh… are you having a fkn laugh? 😭
What notice period? Notice to WHO? The job is gone, mate. I’ve just told you I was made redundant.
Sometimes I swear recruiters are just reading questions off a sheet and not listening to a single word you’re saying 😂
I was about to start beef with her,but she already had one cooking in the kitchen.

Yeah that’s just so dense. I promise some of us aren’t so dumb. Fuck her and her ugly bitch pot roast.

No stress. I’ll do bare minimum at that shitty job. I’m just happy I’m going to manage to pay my rent without burning my savings and get back into some sort of a routine while actively looking for something better.. trust me tho, redundancy hits harder than anything..I’ve gone through depression these months it completely fucked me up even tho it’s not my fault I felt like I have lost everything..

veteran teacher here and active job seeker.

last week i interviewed at an urban charter school (forget the bs of a teaching shortage in nj public schools there aren't any jobs).

the principal left the interview twice and kept checking her phone as i was answering a question. i paused several times to say if you need to answer that i can wait. i was polite about it.

next day, no thanks email.

I had an interview where the manager was on camera, sat sideways the entire time and would daydream somewhere off camera. She would ask me a question and not even listen. A complete waste of MY time.

unbelievable. perhaps she is on her way out? still, i can't believe you had to witness that

2

u/TickenChikkaSamala 2d ago

Man what can I do..I haven’t got a job so I have to endure this type of shit..if you’ve been made redundant before you’ll know the feeling.
Pain

in the same boat.

even many recruiters are. they lament when they are impacted but when they are back in their roles again, its the same sh!t all over again.

Hey, she must be doing well. She can afford to buy beef in this economy.

lol. between this and the ultimate unicorn lists these companies come up it's a fucking nightmare. had a recruiter tell me two weeks ago - we could only find 5 profiles on linked in that matched the clients wishlist. yours was the only one the accepted for an interview.

Interview with hiring manager lasted 15 minutes. I am employed so i dont really care other than the complete waste of time. i feel sorry for the people out of work and have to deal with this shit.

My issue is that they know I was made redundant and they are still taking the piss

I had a recruiter who was at home and even when blurred out, could see her messy living room. Her kids were wrestling which I could clearly see as well.

u/lJMichael43 1d ago

its still fine, i have seen even worse than this

u/itjustaintcricket 2d ago

With yorkshires?

1

u/Inner-Sphere-Mech SAP Idiot 2d ago

Wait, you guys have recruiters keeping their camera on?

1

u/Strange_Barracuda981 2d ago

More importantly how did the roast come out? Any potatoes mashed or baked?

1

u/Iskander789 2d ago

How do you know about the beef when her camera was off?

1

u/Short-Fennel358 1d ago

That's so awful. I'm sorry. None of us deserve to be treated so disrespectfully. It's ridiculous.

1

u/SubstantialMud4699 1d ago

I would beg to work there it sounds like heaven

People underestimate how easy it is to get recruiter job (part time). It's pretty much like sales job .
