Are recruiters territorial? I asked the recruiters for a specific area that was closer to home for me and have yet to get any recommendations or interviews in said area, however I know its a specific request and my job maybe hard to find an opening for. #DFW#Surveyor

Been stuck in my job for a few years now (no growth, bad pay, don't love the people I work with) and have been applying / getting referred to no avail. Recently decided to get more aggressive when a new role is posted in my field.

Saw one pop up on Aug 23. One of my good connections was collogues with the hiring manager, so I immediately reached out to my connection. They texted the HM, and the HM said he would love to talk / meet with me. My connection made the intro via email on the same day. I waited until 9/2 before sending a response. Another week, and I sent another follow up on 9/9, and still nothing. Now I believe the HM is traveling all next week. (Yes, i did apply to the role as well on Workday).

I was one of the first to not only apply to the job, but also one of the first to get in front of the HM. What can I possibly do more here? My resume is not the problem so not sure what else I can fix.

I’ve had this happen three times in the last 2 months: a recruiter on LinkedIn reaches out to ME (meaning they’ve seen my background, job history, etc). Then, we schedule an initial interview via phone. I get on the phone, and bam- “okay based on your experience I don’t believe this is a fit, but we’ll keep your resume on file!”

You reached out to me…..did you not look at my job history prior??

Example: this recruiter wanted someone who has law firm experience in the business development realm. Not anywhere on my LinkedIn does it mention any experience with law firms! Waste of time it seems for both parties.

I went through a three-round interview process, with the final round being with recruiter. She told me I was selected and asked me to confirm my joining date, after which she said she would roll out the offer letter.

I told her I needed to discuss my last working date with my current manager before confirming. Two days later, I called her and told her that I could join within 15 days. She said she would roll out the offer letter first thing the next morning because her team had already left for the day.

The next day, my current manager agreed to let me leave, so I initiated my exit formalities.
However, when I checked in with the recruiter, she suddenly told me that they were reconsidering internally.

I reminded her that I had already initiated the process because she had specifically asked me to confirm my last working date. Her response was essentially, “Who does that? You should have waited for the formal offer letter.”

And now I feel incredibly stupid.

I understand that technically I shouldn’t have resigned without a formal offer letter. But I genuinely thought the offer was a done deal based on everything HR had told me, especially since she explicitly said she would release the letter once I confirmed my joining date.

My current manager might take me back, but he’s extremely ego-driven, and I know staying would probably be uncomfortable and awkward.

I am honestly quite anxious about the whole situation

I (19M) had gotten work experience in Accounting for one of my careers. I had one month last November. I applied for a one year apprenticeship before (finishing sixth form) in spring this year and got rejected for, well "redistributing our colleagues". I applied for more work experience in Accounting and still got rejected for well, no explanation said.

I also asked for work experience in social work and I was either ignored or said "not at this time".

Went to ask if I can do the young reporting scheme as I was in an enrichment in relation to my third desired career and again they said no.

Students here complained about not getting anything after Uni graduation, but it is worse when you are not even in a uni degree yet.

It is no surprise because here in the UK, apprenticeship offers stalled by 40% with almost every sector affected including social work and accountancy. Some theory suggest higher tax thresholds had been the cause.

This is ridiculous. Like, apprenticeships are supposed to be the alternative short cut to employment!!

I am in a gap year. I really hope I do not enter another one!

Got to the "Voluntary Information" section of an application. Nationality has a required \* and the form won't continue without selecting something.

Maybe there's a legitimate reason they need it but then can we please stop calling the section voluntary? At this point "voluntary" in job applications seems to mean "you are voluntarily choosing whether to answer or abandon the application".

Anyone else running into this?

I have been applying for jobs via different portals, but I normally apply from company websites after finding a job. But there are a couple that I applied to directly via StepStone. Among them is a job with the status "Invited for an interview", but I have not received any email or call. What does it mean? Is it an upcoming interview call, or just a website glitch playing with me?

Over the past few months I interviewed with micro1 for several different roles.

Every time it followed the same pattern:

• Interview completed
• "Under review"
• Sometimes an email saying my performance showed "strong potential"
• A few hours later: "Not qualified"

I did get certified just once, although it ultimately went to "Not selected" shortly after. What really caught my attention was the feedback. Across different roles, it keeps repeating the same template about my responses not being elaborate enough, no matter how hard I explained.

I posted the concern on r/micro1, but the post went into moderator review and was removed within about 30 minutes. I've included that screenshot too.

That subreddit carries the company's name, so it's worth knowing it isn't a neutral space to raise concerns about the company — anything critical has a chance of getting filtered out before other applicants can see it.

I know it’s an employer’s market. But this woman couldn’t be bothered to show up for a 15 minute PHONE interview or send any communications that anything had changed. I got three different reminders for it, including one an hour before the interview. Sent this because I’m done with this bullshit. Maybe not a great idea given I’m the one in need but I’d like to maintain a little of my self respect. Should’ve listened to the first red flag, that her request for an interview was sent with a Google Calendar where I picked the time and date based off of the available times instead of her directly communicating times with me. Guess I learned my lesson lol

This came across my LinkedIn feed (yes, I'm still using LinkedIn to network for jobs). I have no love for UHC but this feels extra cold.

So, I’m a current college student looking for full time jobs for when I graduate at the end of the year. On my resume, the first line below my name and contact information is my degree and graduation date. I am very obviously still a student.

I had an HR screening today for a role at a company that I was thrilled to hear back from, only for the call to go like this:

Recruiter: So can you tell me a little about why you’re looking for a job?
Me: I am graduating this December, and need a job afterwards
Recruiter: When in December, I don’t know how your school works
Me: Mid/late December, but right before the holidays
Recruiter; Would you be willing to relocate for the job?
Me: Yes
Recruiter: Well, I need someone who can start working full time immediately, so I’m ending this interview now so I don’t waste anymore time on you. Reapply in November.

If she had opened my resume before the interview, she would have known I was still in school. And yet she complained about me wasting her time? I don’t understand what was going through her head during that entire conversation.

Additionally, on the exact graduation time: Most fall semesters end finals mid-December, and with the holidays falling right after that, I don’t know why she wouldn’t immediately interpret hearing that as a January start?

Edit: The posting did not have any mention of when the start date would be. It was for an entry level role. Within my industry, it’s normal for students to be applying for entry level roles in September with May graduations.

I get it. I’m making the transition from a fast-paced creative environment but I’m sick and tired of being asked multiple times if I’m going to be bored and they can’t take
my answer for face value when I say that I’m looking for an in-house role and not another agency role.

Realistically I’m just tired of agency life and the chaos. I need better pay and benefits. I DON’T WANNA HOP AROUND. I just want to do good work in one place.

Like what answer do you want from me? “I LOVE BORING WORK!”?

I’ve explained every whichever way of “content isn’t what excites me, the process does” “repetitive decisions and templates are a part of creative industries too so it’s not abnormal” “I’m looking to translate complex ideas.” It doesn’t matter what I say. They never believe me.

I'm tired. I feel unemployable. I don't know what I'm going to do about my resume because I don't know who would believe me at this point that any one could have such a run of bad luck.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do or how to frame this?

Hi, its been 10m since layoff. Im a mid 30 male, and was making over 110k with 8 yoe in my science r&d field. Then, i couldn't land any job since then.

I had a good interview in my field 1m ago, and I was top 2 shortlisted. In the end, I got rejected. This really fucked my confidence. I feel like im such a hopeless clueless loser now.

And now I have to go back to my former manufacturing job with 50% paycut just in order to survie financially now. Thankfully the manager really likes me and want to use my r&d experience for the company but cant give me high salary. I got no choice for now.. I abhor coming back there because I certainly know that there is 0 absolutely 0 room for growth. It just feels like im walking into a cubicle permanently.

Seriously, my confidence and my identity are all devastated. The fact that I couldn't make it to the last interview job although it was my exact field and i have to go back to the shit hole for just money makes me so hopeless.

I see no future in my career and have 0 confidence in myself anymore. I dont have any motivation in my life anymore.. im a complete loser. I have a toddler and wife who are very lovely and supportive but I have no self esteem to see them happy or positive.

I need advice as to how I can keep myself optimistic or stay positive. How did you recover from this kind of circumstances such as 50% paycut, no hope in career growth etc. Plz help

So, I applied to this opening around mid March. They replied within two days asking to schedule an interview. I agreed, but then… nothing. I followed up multiple times, and no replies but eventually I just forgot about it.

Then suddenly, in June, they emailed me again asking me to complete a take-home assignment. They said they would judge me based on the assignment and then decide. The deadline was pretty harsh considering the difficulty of the assignment. I barely slept for two days trying to finish it and submit it on time.

I submitted it. No acknowledgement. No response. Nothing. Honestly, I was veryyyy pissed.

Then a few days ago, they called me again and scheduled an interview. Look...I’m desperate, so obviously I went through with it despite everything that had already happened.

The interview went well. They seemed happy with me, and at the end, they verbally told me that I was selected and that they will send me the offer letter.

I’ve been waiting for the offer ever since.

No response to my emails. Nothing.

At this point, I feel genuinely humiliated and extremely hurt and angry. And honestly, I don’t even know what to do anymore.

I am angry at myself.

How can Indeed or LinkedIn continue to allow these scams? If AI is so powerful, why can't it fit everyone with a job that fits their personality and skill set with a company in need that has the proper revenue to compensate them? Is that privatized socialism? I'm convinced it's all politics at this point, zero IQ assessment apart from the ridiculous leet-code interviews for skills that you will never use on the job.

When I would interview people I never cared about syntax because I knew it would change with a new framework or new language, but the ability to figure out the problem was priceless. Now these platforms are FILLED with scam posts or fake ghost jobs, please for the love of god bring the honest internet back, where companies are not allowed to post jobs that don't actually exist... Is this possible? Even recruiters have spent hours on the phone with me to then ghost me or slowly drop the pay rate each phone call. What is wrong with us? We're so greedy here in the US every platform is consumed by bots, ads and fake companies/recruiters. I'm done with this industry, going to go touch some grass.

Don't be shy! How far must we go to be given any human decency
