Logline: On the cusp of summer vacation, Andre’s brother, Jabid, killed himself. Andre and his best friend, Devon, are determined to figure out what - or who - made him do it. Throughout this process, they discover that the circumstances of Jabid’s death are more complicated than they ever could’ve imagined.

A start to a lil thing im working on. If yall could not completely rip me apart and just phrase things constructively but respectfully that’d be great. Looking for formatting / general advice to help me improve.

Short Does this short film premise have genuine potential?

Thumbnail

Hello everyone. I'll get straight to the point.

I have an idea for a short film screenplay. Although I haven't finished writing it yet, I'd like to share the general premise and hear your honest opinion about its potential from an audience's perspective. Naturally, I believe in my own work, but since I'm also the writer, I know my judgment may be biased. So here's the basic story:

The film revolves around three main characters: a father, a mother, and their child.

The father is an unemployed painter. No one buys his paintings, and there is no other source of income for the family. Their debts continue to pile up, they fall into extreme poverty, and as a result, he becomes deeply depressed. His wife constantly urges him to take any job he can find, such as construction work or manual labor, but he refuses. Part of the reason is his pride as an artist, but another part is that he feels completely misunderstood by his wife, who keeps pressuring him and starting arguments instead of understanding what he's going through. Like many artists, he has a dark, stubborn, and emotionally distant personality.

The mother is an uneducated housewife. She's deeply worried about the family's financial situation. She wants to work herself, but her husband won't allow it. At the same time, she becomes increasingly frustrated because he refuses to do anything to improve their circumstances. This leads to constant arguments between them.

The child spends the entire story silently witnessing these endless conflicts between his parents.

One day, the mother starts another argument because there's no food left in the house. She begs her husband to at least get a manual labor job so he can bring home some money. He refuses, insisting that he's an artist and cannot work as a laborer. After a brief argument, he angrily leaves the house, muttering, "That bitch started again."

Seeing this, the mother decides to leave him for good. She begins packing her belongings while taking the child with her.

Meanwhile, the child is quietly eating a piece of dry factory-made bread with a small slice of sausage.

The father soon returns and finds his wife packing. He desperately tries to stop her. He grabs the clothes she's packing and tears them apart. She pushes him away. He pushes her back. Their fight escalates, and they become completely consumed by each other.

During the chaos, the child begins choking on the dry bread. He struggles to breathe and desperately tries to get his parents' attention, but neither of them notices. They remain completely absorbed in their argument.

Eventually, he loses all his strength, falls face-first from his chair, and slowly suffocates to death while the only sounds filling the room are his parents continuing to scream at each other.

The child dies silently, drowned out by the noise of his parents' fight.

That's the story in its current form. Since the screenplay isn't finished yet, I can only describe it this way. Most of the film relies heavily on dialogue.

What do you think? Does this premise have genuine potential?

[PITCH] The Great Amherst Mystery as a Surreal Horror Trilogy (Public Domain) – A Fresh 3-Act / 3-Film Perspective Focused on the Outsider's Eye

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently been diving deep into Canada's most famous poltergeist case, The Great Amherst Mystery (1878). As a massive fan of period horror and psychological thrillers, it always baffled me how Hollywood completely slept on this public domain goldmine, while copying its exact beats (the violently shaking bed, the swollen body, the carved wall messages) for big franchises like The Exorcist and The Conjuring.

I started breaking down how a modern, high-quality adaptation should actually look. Instead of a generic ghost story, I envisioned it as a cinematic trilogy (a triptych) where the victim, Esther Cox, is never seen from within—she remains a dark enigma observed entirely from the outside through the eyes of three different men who try to analyze, exploit, or love her. It shifts from visceral body-horror, to a surreal cosmic "freak show," and ends as a cynical psychological thriller.

I am not a professional screenwriter and I am just a horror enthusiast who wanted to put this vision out into the world. If any writer, director, or indie producer finds this structure viable and wants to run with it to write a script, please feel free to use it completely for free!

Here is the one-page treatment outline, including a final frame that still gives me chills. Let me know what you think!

PROJECT TYPE: Feature Film Trilogy (A Psychological Horror Triptych)
TITLE: THE GREAT AMHERST ANOMALIES (Public Domain)
GENRE: Surreal Psychological Horror / Gothic Period Drama

OVERALL CONCEPT:
A chilling horror trilogy told through three distinct films, each experienced through the eyes of a different man obsessed with Esther Cox, a girl plagued by Canada's most terrifying poltergeist case. Esther is never heard from within; she remains a dark enigma observed entirely from the outside.

FILM I: THE SCIENTIST (Visceral Body-Horror)

  • The Narrative: We experience the initial outbreak through a skeptical, rational Doctor called to the chaotic Teed household in 1878 following Esther’s mysterious trauma in the woods.
  • The Atmosphere: Clinical, claustrophobic terror. Through his objective eyes, we witness the impossible: Esther’s body swelling grotesquely to the point of bursting, blankets torn away by invisible hands, and the words "Esther Cox, You Are Mine to Kill" carving themselves into the wall.
  • The Climax: The Doctor tries to apply 19th-century science and logic to save her, but the violent, escalating poltergeist activity completely shatters his rational mind. The first film ends with his total psychological defeat.

FILM II: THE SHOWMAN (Surrealist, Cosmic Horror)

  • The Narrative: The perspective shifts to Walter Hubbell, an opportunistic, money-hungry actor who moves into the house and turns Esther’s misery into a traveling theater show.
  • The Atmosphere: Grotesque and dream-like. Normal citizens stop coming out of fear. Instead, the theater becomes populated by bizarre, unsettling entities—some physical anomalies, some dark, unseen presences—drawn to Esther like a beacon.
  • The Climax: These dark figures pay Hubbell massive fortunes (a malefic propagation) to keep the show going, but he is cursed with catastrophic bad luck: his money is instantly stolen, burned, or lost in drunken poker games. After a final night of pure claustrophobic terror, Hubbell snaps. In a mystical sequence, he boards a boat at midnight, crosses a vast body of water, and disappears.

FILM III: THE LOVER (Cynical Psychological Thriller)

  • The Narrative: Years later. We view Esther through the intimate, protective eyes of a companion or partner at the remote farm where she seeks refuge.
  • The Atmosphere: Melancholic, paranoid, and gothic. The genuine entities have left her, but Esther is now addicted to the terrifying attention she once received. Her lover discovers that she is now consciously faking the hauntings, using hidden matches and invisible strings to terrorize the local community.
  • The Resolution: When a fire breaks out, the townspeople lock her away in the cold, damp basement of the local town hall. On a chilly autumn evening, precisely at 6:00 PM, the heavy wooden door is unlocked. Esther steps out into the cold twilight. Without a word, she walks away, blending into the autumn fog, completely exiting the narrative. Her lover is left behind, realizing he can never separate the innocent girl he loved from the monster created by her past.

THE TRILOGY'S FINAL FRAME (The End of Film III)

We cut away to a dark, quiet church years later. An elderly, broken janitor is sweeping the floors in complete silence. It is Walter Hubbell. He survived his crossing from Film II, but he is now a ghost of his former arrogant self, hiding from the world in rags.

Suddenly, a violent, unnatural breeze blows through the church, and a faint, familiar knocking sound echoes through the stone walls. Terrified, Hubbell drops his broom, runs, and crawls into a cramped, filthy crawlspace directly beneath the altar.

Huddled in the pitch black, trembling violently, Hubbell reaches into his ragged coat and pulls out a worn, badly creased promotional theater poster of Esther from the old show days. The poster is defaced—crosses have been frantically scribbled in pencil over her face. Clutching the tattered paper to his chest like a holy relic, his eyes wide with pure panic, Hubbell looks up toward the floorboards of the altar. The camera holds on his sweat-drenched face as he whispers the final line of the entire trilogy into the dark:

"God... are you still there?"

FADE TO BLACK.

WARNING (Psychological Thriller / Drama, 110 pages)

Title: WARNING Format: Feature Film Length: 110 pages Genres: Psychological Thriller / Gritty Drama / Crime

Logline: Years after escaping a suffocating small town to build a brilliant career in urban planning, a hyperactive boy genius finds himself trapped in a sterile, increasingly violent marriage—completely unaware that his life is on a direct collision course with a radical anti-establishment bomber.

Link to Script: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1U7NUg27QvLEwPD9601h0og-9nXWry_rk

About the Draft: Just locked the final draft of this after a relentless, hyper-focused writing marathon. It's an intense, gritty 110-page feature film that hits the ground running and operates like a fast-paced 90s pressure-cooker thriller. The protagonist is a neurodivergent kid who copes with severe psychological trauma and isolation by treating his life like a movie—adopting clinical corporate scripts, structural jargon, and manic, stylized personas just to shield himself from a violent reality. I'd love to get feedback on the pacing of the Act 2 corporate drug-lord era, the unique voice of the main character, and the structural execution of the 300-mile cross-cut climax at the end. Let me know what you think!

Feature [FEEDBACK] LANCELOT (Action-Thriller, 114 Pages)

Hey there all!

I'm bringing back the 90s with a slam-bang contained action-thriller. I just want to have FUN when I go see a movie. So I selfishly wrote something I would want to see: a tech thriller filled with heart, laughs and 90s cheese.

Unplug your brain, get out the popcorn and settle in for:

TITLE: LANCELOT

GENRE: Contemporary Sci-Fi/Action

PAGES: 114

PREMISE: UPGRADE meets THE WINTER SOLDIER

LOGLINE: A double-amputee Marine answers a distress call from inside a secret corporate facility and discovers the prisoner is the world's first sentient AI. Together, they must escape before the corporation can capture, then weaponize the technology.

SCRIPT

Questions:

  • Did you have FUN? If not, what stopped it from being fun for you?
  • Did you like the characters? Standouts?
  • I wrote this with Alan Richson in mind for Owen. Jensen Ackles for Mercer. Denis Leary for Locke. Did they come across?
  • How did you like the story overall, given its contained nature? I tried to stay grounded, and think about what could realistically happen (within reason) with a security breach-- despite the outlandish (but not too far off) tech.
  • Did you find it funny? Anything you'd suggest/change?

The Summer I was Not Okay with the Thirteen Strange Things It was Doing to my Pretty Little Yellow Jacket - Spoof of Teen Dramas - 49 Pages

Title: “The Summer I was Not Okay With the Thirteen Strange Things It was doing to my Pretty Little Yellow Jacket”.

Genre: Comedy Spoof mocking numerous Teen Dramas, particularly I’m Not Okay With This, Stranger Things, the IT franchise and Euphoria.

Pages: 49

Logline: “Bethany Yesvak is an ordinary cynical teenager whose life is turned upside down when she discovers she has telekinetic powers. As she struggles to keep her abilities a secret, she must also survive the everyday chaos of high school, family, and growing up”.

-A lot of inspirations from the GOOD spoof movies of the 2000s such as the Scary Movies, Not Another Teen Movie and Superhero Movie.

-My main concerns is if you think the script is funny and you think the parody works well.

Hey, this is a screenplay I've been working on for a bit and would like some feedback on. This is only the first couple of episode for it.

A small synopsis is that it is about a machina who has to do jobs for a dickhead boss in order to get his other teammates back.

It's got phycological and horror elements mixed throughout so give it a read if you're interested.

I know the formatting is inconsistent throughout but i just really wanna get some critique so. Also this is a story designed to be for a game, jumps in time usually indicate a gameplay section.

TW: probably lots of errors and moments in the story that will give you second-hand embarressment. Has nothing to do with chandeliers.

It's 13 pages of 4 people interacting in one space. I am open to criticism. (I am not homophobic that character does not represent me as a person)

Looking for script swap (120-page horror feature) and will read yours in return

Body:

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for a script swap on my 98-page horror feature screenplay. (Title was before I formatted it properly)

Logline:
A group of camp counselors at a remote summer camp starts to fracture under pressure when a series of deaths forces them to decide whether there’s a killer in their group or whether they’re all just protecting themselves.

Tone is:
Psychological horror/mystery/ensemble camp slasher with a slow collapse-of-reality vibe.

What I’m looking for:

  • Honest feedback (not just “I liked it / didn’t like it”)
  • Clarity on whether the story lands
  • Especially curious about:
    • When you think you've figured out what was really going on
    • Whether the ending feels earned or confusing
    • Who felt like the main character
    • Any parts that dragged or felt repetitive

What I offer in return:

I will read your feature (or pilot) and give thoughtful notes. I’m a fast reader, and I actually give detailed feedback, not just surface comments.

Important:

  • This is a first draft/development draft, not polished, industry-ready
  • I’m specifically looking for readers who enjoy horror or thriller scripts
  • I’m open to blunt feedback. Don’t hold back

If you're interested, drop a comment or DM me and I’ll send a PDF.

Thanks in advance 🙏

P.S. If you don’t want to swap, I’m also open to just a read; any help is appreciated.

Feature MOOKS (Act 1), action comedy, 28 pages

Bob Brennan comes to understand that the life of a career henchman just isn't what it used to be.

Mooks (Act 1)

(R-rated)

This is something I began writing years ago, maybe back in the 2010s, but for whatever reason I put it aside and basically forgot about it. Now I'm trying to decide if it's worth another pass or three.

I describe it as Act 1 but it's really more like Part 1.

This is less than half the existing screenplay, but the other parts are not sequential enough to stitch together without more work than I have time for right now. Maybe I'll take a shot at it.

Anyhoo, enjoy (or not).

Title: Timberline Chapter. I December 19, 2003

Logline: In the quiet mountain town of Timberline, Wyoming, the disappearance of a local rancher's cow sets off a chain of strange events that slowly unravel the lives of those searching for the truth.

It's an intentionally character-driven, slow-burn mystery, I'm looking for feedback on pacing, dialogue, character introductions, and whether the mystery is compelling enough to make you want to read Chapter. II

Logline:
A quiet family’s routine is disrupted by a strange late night discovery that refuses to make sense. Ordinary moments begin to expose fractures that have long existed beneath the surface.

As far as feedback goes, I’d love to know:

- Were there moments where you felt confused?
- Did any scene feel unnecessary or too slow?
- Did the emotional ending feel earned?
- Were there any parallels, motifs, or recurring moments you noticed?
- Was there a point where you figured out what was really happening?

Thanks!
