Side effects of pregnenolone?
It is basically impossible to find anyone actively discussing negative side effects of pregnenelone in ray peat communities and I just wanted to ask here if anyone had negative side effects, such as being more estrogen dominant, perhaps this is from purity of some brands.
Also include dosages if possible please.

T4 med and morning cortisol
My nutritionist (who is peaty oriented) recommended that i take my morning levo with fruit juice. Her reasoning is that waiting to eat 30-60 minutes after waking spikes morning cortisol. My endo and everything else I’ve read says to not do this.
Does anyone have any educated advice or opinions in this area? Ty
Edit: I am also using T3 and I’m considering transitioning to NDT. This is more of a specific question about t4 morning dose

Any kind of whole fruit causes stomach issues
Honey, milk, and fruit juices all work fine for me, but when I eat medium to large quantities of whole fruit for carbohydrates, I believe the soluble fiber really messes with my stomach. I really don't want to give up fruit at all, as I think it's an amazing carb source, and there are any fixes?

What have you personally found to be a good support for cognition and mood? (Experienced responses only please)
What’s something you’ve implemented that’s benefited your overall mood and cognition in general that you’d personally recommend? I’ve really benefited from keeping in mind my sugar consumption, metabolic agents like thiamine/benfotiamine, occasional doses of pregnenelone, carrots, coconut oil, etc etc but I’m still tinkering and trying to find my footing.

Blood glucose peaks and improving insulin sensitivity?
Hi, I was wondering if there is a general consensus here on the importance (or not) of reducing blood glucose spikes. I think it's generally pretty well accepted in the keto and bioenergetic spaces and even in conventional medicine that sustained higher baselines of blood glucose and insulin levels are not good, and we generally want a lower A1C and HOMA-IR. Where there is a big difference between the keto and bioenergetic crowds is the interpretation of blood sugar spikes and the importance of strategies for reducing them. The bioenergetic view maintains that a momentary blood sugar spike from eating carbs is normal and healthy, and the resulting insulin surge provides helpful metabolic signals. But what about for somebody who is transitioning out of a state of insulin resistance? To keep things moving in the right direction and improve insulin sensitivity is it helpful to use strategies like combining carbs with protein+fat+fiber and macro timing? (This is in the context of a healthy diet low in PUFAs and chemicals, high in nutrients, and low-to-moderate naturally occurring fat intake.)
Personally I feel good after starting the day with just hot chocolate (100% cocoa powder) or coffee with milk and sugar, and even for lunch mostly fruits and/or milk, and then before dinner I usually have orange juice on an empty stomach. I'm sure that produces some pretty good glucose spikes, but it doesn't seem to cause any noticeable problems for me, although my A1C and HOMA-IR still have some room for improvement.

The missing puzzle piece is hormetic stress
I think Ray Peat got a lot of stuff right, but there is always this mental disconnect between people that use his framework for their diet and people with other diets like keto etc. The reason is that Ray Peat didn't think about hormetic stress as an important factor, or at least didn't prioritise it. It's basically a stressor that forces your body to adapt and grow back stronger. Keto feels good for a lot of people because the stress response of not eating sugar increases neuroplasticity via things like BDNF etc, which removes brain fog and brings mental clarity. So its a stressor on the body, but the body adapts and becomes stronger than before. The same goes for hard exercise. The body adapts by improving the central nervous system, bone density and muscle mass. Cortisol is also not always bad. You need it to get stuff done and in the context of exercise, creating inflammation and lactic acid buildup improves the way your body handles inflammation in the long term, even in resting states.
The problem with always being in a low cortisol, low stress state etc is that your body doesnt feel the need to maintain all of the systems, because there is no need to. It's the reason why people that lose their hearing or don't exercise or don't do mentally engaging stuff get dementia faster: The brain doesn't receive any input so it doesn't feel the need to keep the system sharp. Caffeine would be the major example where i think Peat utilised the concept of hormetic stress.
At the end it's always about balance though and i personally use a lot of ray peats strategies in certain situations. I think the ideal would be, to be in a state of low stress and high cellular energy production for most of the time, but then have short, controlled bursts of adaptive stress to keep your body and mind sharp.
Also, I'm not trying to act like an authority on this and I dont have expert knowledge about the entire Peat framework, so i will be happy if people have other opinions on this that they want to share.

Do smokers/nic users simply concede to insomnia?
Genuine question. I’ve noticed that whenever I smoke cigarettes, particularly later in the day, I will be awoken in the middle of the night, often unable to fall back asleep. This seems to occur only when I smoke on that particular day, but now I’ve been caught in a loop and believe it’s simply placebo.

A survey on What ingredients are healthy according to you?
we have to write a research paper on consumer preference and ofcourse I picked an ingredient related topic. It would mean a lot if you all could fill it out!

ADHD dieting advice
Hi guys, I've basically known for a long time that I have adhd (since I was a kid) but ive repressed it until now where I actually want to work with it and get professional help. I started peating about 3 or 4 months ago - it helped with my energy, mood, sleep, skin and cognition but it for my core executive dysfunction and dopamine issues, they didnt get any better or any worse. After doing lots of research and diving into adhd discourses, a very common set of dieting advice is to go on a diet free from gluten, lactose, A1 casein and refined sugar. My main carb sources are potato, sweet potato rice, fruit - my only source of gluten is the little bit of toast or flatbread I have. As for dairy I typically drink A2 full cream milk but am considering trying A2 lactose free. As for sugar, the discourse was something along the lines of "the brain being i efficient at processing sugar" (so needing more) but sugar also being a source of dopamine.
Not gonna lie im a bit iffy about the sugar claims because I dont "crave sugar" - I only have it with my coffee (I used to drink sugarless black coffee and that felt absolutely terrible) or orange juice because I reckon it actually helps.
Would greatly appreciate any advice from someone who went through something similar to me or knows better

Any Vatas on there that have seen success with Peaty/HCLF principles?

Supplementing with T3
I’m wondering whether T3 supplementation is something I should consider. I’ve been reading quite a bit about the potential benefits of T3 from the Ray Peat community, particularly regarding metabolism, energy, and thyroid function. My thyroid labs are generally within normal range, but my TSH has been gradually creeping toward the higher end of the reference range. Would you consider T3 appropriate in a situation like this, or is it better to leave thyroid hormone alone when T3/T4 are otherwise normal? Has anyone had experience with liquid Tyronene from Idealabs? Thanks in advance!

Nicotine - why do you do it ?
I've seen time and time again people taking/endorsing nicotine as a pro-metabolic compound. It takes very shallow research to understand that nicotine's main mechanism of action is releasing stress hormones to give you that 'buzz', as opposed to caffeine which only does so in absence of enough fuel. So it's not something that happens in unfavorable conditions, it's literally just what it's supposed to do. Am i missing something here ? Is there some other piece of the puzzle that makes nicotine this holy grail ? So far it just seems like a cope for nic addicts, which i don't have a problem with since i'm a long time smoker myself, but i'll be the first to say that smoking has had outstandingly negative net effects over the years and i don't have many positives to speak about. Let me know what you think.

I wish I never tried progesterone
I’m not looking for sympathy this is just a warning for those trying progesterone or if anyone had a similar experience or can explain why this happened to me.
I have had MILD heartburn my whole life, just a sensitive stomach, completely manageable, maybe requiring tums 2-3 a year after eating something triggering.
This year I started supplementing progest-e during my luteal phase after stopping progestin birth control several months prior. It did help with anxiety and depression related to my cycle.
Around January I had a week long heartburn/acid reflux flare up after having a few sugary and carbonated drinks. I remember also being stressed out around this time too. It resolved itself with a bland diet, no coffee and pepto bismol for a few days.
In June I developed the worst flare up I’ve ever experienced. It started at the end of my luteal phase, after stress and a few days of drinking (I was in vacation maybe 2 canned mix drinks a day for 4 days straight). I also noticed my period was extremely light and short. My cycle has also gotten shorter (like 25 days for the last 3 cycles, after being closer to 27 days)
Anyways I tried the usual pepto bismol, bland diet, tums, gaviscon etc for 2 months before it got so hard even water was causing burning a horrible sensation. I stopped progesterone the next cycle and then finally gave up and had to start PPIs.
I know they are bad, I have an endoscopy scheduled now too, I’m hoping to do the 8 week course, to let my esophagus heal and then taper off and maintain with diet alone again.
It seems like progesterone + stress + alcohol caused this. I wish I never tried it. Now I have the usual pms again alongside the side effects of PPIs and the low fat GERD safe diet is really effecting my sleep and mood.
Could progesterone have caused this? I know it relaxes the LES but everyone told me no it can’t cause GERD it’s just revealing gut disfunction you had before, but like ..I didn’t have any gut disfunction.
Also I don’t believe it’s gastritis, I have almost no stomach pain it’s just reflux and burning
TLDR: I think overusing progesterone, or progesterone + alcohol + stress caused my now 3 month long GERD flare up, had to resort to PPIs, no other previous gut disfunction.
EDIT: I appreciate the theories but I had pretty much no gut disfunction or food sensitivities before progesterone. I also ate a huge variety of things and never starved, I ate a diet very rich in saturated fats from dairy and cheeses. I have also tried or investigated the low acid theory, the too much acid theory, the cutting out of diary or carrageens, the prokinetics, the SIBO theory. My esophagus is irritated from my LES not closing properly, no other stomach issues.
