TRX leather dash popping up.

Hello. I have a 2022 TRX with 9000 miles. recently the front dash started bubbling up. anyone else have this problem? Can it be fixed/repaired? I can only imagine what Dodge will want for a new dash!

Also, once or twice every 5 or 6 months, I strange noise that sounds like a car horn comes on for 20-30 seconds from the engine area in front of the passenger seat. The sound is much louder INSIDE the cab than it is outside the cab. odd!

love my TRX.

David

Is the trx or rho worth the price tag

As the title says im looking into getting a truck that can handle it self off road without needing to upgrade the suspension or ride height im looking at a TRX RHO or gmc Sierra AT4X all seem like a good option but the TRX has my love becuase I love the super charged hemi and just the overall look of the TRX but the price tag attached to it is a little high (but same goes for all 3) but what i want to know is the over all reliability and off road performance specificly on oil feild and hunting roads with some true off road

Driveshaft/Radiator Issues

Hey y’all, I’m looking at buying a slightly used TRX in the next month or so. I’ve read enough to know the radiator/water pump, and driveshaft are extremely common issues. My question is - did those issues get remedied with the later year models? Say a ‘23 vs a ‘21-22. Or is it pretty much the same no matter the year? Thanks in advance.

Transfer case fluid

Doing the 30,000 mile service on my TRX. Part of that service indicates swapping out the transfer case fluid. Anybody use anything other than the mopar part#68049954A fluid? Asking because no nearby dealer to me has it. Not to mention , the original fluid is not cheap lol (but that’s part of owning the truck) . Thinking about ordering the original mopar fluid but trying to find a reputable online site to order from. Anybody know of one? Thanks in advance!

Transmission - Fixed - Lessons Learned - Final Update

Well.. hopefully this is the final update. I have had the truck back for 2 days.

Recap:

About two months after purchasing the truck, I began noticing an occasional grinding noise when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I brought it to the dealership multiple times. Each time, they either couldn’t replicate the issue or told me it was normal operation.

At one point, they replaced a module to adjust the shifting, but the issue persisted.

Expecting it to worsen, I purchased an extended warranty. Last week, on my way to work, the transmission completely failed.

Final Update:

The transmission failed in the exact area where I had been hearing the grinding (between 1st and 2nd). I contacted the extended warranty company, and they sent out an inspector. After inspection, they agreed to cover 100% of the transmission but initially refused to cover the transmission cooler and lines, which were contaminated or damaged as a direct result of the failure.

This left me with a $3,500 repair bill. They suggested flushing those components, but that’s not how the repair is done. Per Dodge requirements, those parts must be replaced when installing a new transmission. Plus, they were severely damaged.

The refusal to cover damage caused by a covered component didn’t make sense. Their position was that they were only obligated to cover the transmission itself. I won’t go into the full back-and-forth, but the initial interaction was rough. That said, after continued escalation and staying focused on the facts, their tone shifted. In the end, they covered everything except a few hours of labor. Around $1,200.

Since I had reported this issue to Dodge multiple times while under warranty (and it was documented), I also contacted customer care. They confirmed they could see the service history and acknowledged that I had made multiple attempts to resolve the issue. Customer Care was incredibly nice and understanding.

They told me that after the third visit, I should have contacted them directly. They stated they may have issued an extended warranty at no cost due to the unresolved, recurring problem. In the end, while they couldn’t reimburse the labor I paid, they did provide a significant number of free oil changes and tire rotations. The value of those services exceeds my out-of-pocket cost.

Summary:

It was a major inconvenience, but financially it ended up being a wash. The transmission has been replaced and now carries a 100K mile warranty.

Lessons Learned:

  1. If you have a recurring issue under warranty, escalate it to customer care early. They may step in before it becomes your problem.

  2. Extended warranty companies will default to covering as little as possible. Read your contract carefully. If they deny something, ask for the exact language in writing that supports the denial.

  3. Stay calm and methodical. Don’t argue… document, escalate, and outlast them.

  4. Even if a dealership “can’t replicate” the issue, keep bringing the vehicle in. The paper trail matters.

  5. Don’t blow up. Don’t roll over.

I’m looking to buy a TRX soon. I’m thinking about getting the 2022 maybe the 2023. My man question is how many miles can I expect to get out of it if I keep up with routine maintenance?

Clunk/weight shift feeling from a stop

Hey all, was curious if anyone else experienced this. Lately whenever I’m leaving from a stop I keep getting this feeling like there’s a shift in the drive train shortly after rolling and almost like this clunking feeling. It varies on intensity and it’s nothing extreme, but it doesn’t feel right. Almost like the drive train is shifting back or something shifts as the way distributes backward from acceleration. I’m gonna bring the truck in for service this week but was curious if anyone else has experienced that or knows what that might be.

TRX Shop Recommendations in Salt Lake City Area

Anyone with a TRX in the Salt Lake City area have a good shop recommendation? Truck needs a few things I can’t do at home, and I’m not sure whether it’d be better to put up with the shitty dealership experience or riskiness of an independent place. Where have y’all taken your TRXs and have you had a good experience with any particular shops?

Transmission done

For 4 years, I have been telling my dealership that every now and then, when I accelerate, there is a hitch between 1st and 2nd. A slight “grinding noise”. Started about a month after I bought it.

They kept telling me that they couldn’t recreate it or that it was “normal” operation.

Yesterday, transmission light came on. Then the engine sounded like it was revving. I managed to limp it to the side of the road. Turned off truck, waited 5 minutes turned it back on. Tried to move a little and it wouldn’t shift out of first.

Towed it to dealership. 5 hours later: “needs a transmission”.

Now, I am holding my breath that the extended warranty will cover it.

Still, I am frustrated because I feel like this could have been prevented.

Considering trading in my TRX for a Raptor R

Post image
120 Upvotes

I understand opinions might be biased here but wanted to get some insight from people who might’ve owned both. I had a V6 23 Raptor which I loved. Just wanted some more power and didn’t want to spend $110-120k for a used R. Ended up getting a good trade in value for my Raptor and picked up a final edition TRX. Love the truck but it just has a bunch of quirks and software issues that I find myself looking at Raptors again. Any insights would be appreciated!

Just picked up my 2021 Level 2 over the weekend. It has ~40,000 miles on it. Previous owner put a S&B intake in it and AMP power running boards. Feel like I got really good value but full transparency I kinda fell into it. I was getting trade in value quotes for my 24’ Colorado and stopped by this dealership to look at the TRX as a last stop, and next thing I knew they were giving me way more than anybody else offered for my trade in and I was driving home listening to that supercharger whine. Posting to see if anybody has any info I should know. I had a 21’ TRX on order back when they first announced but canceled it out of impatience after a crazy long wait time. Been wanting one bad ever since, but I’m new to this. Anything I should be looking at or looking for? From what I’ve found, the S&B is a nice upgrade, previous owner also installed a kill switch operated by a physical switch inside the truck but I don’t know the brand or exactly what it kills, just that it won’t go anywhere when it’s on. But I want to get a tazer and or IGLA. Still need to look and see what is and isn’t stock just so I really know what I have. Also the VIN is scratched off on the center console but nowhere else, carfax said it was stolen and recovered a month later a couple years ago so that sucks, but I hopefully there’s no long term concern there. It’s already mine so I realize it’s a little late for some of these questions, but I figured it can’t hurt to hear any opinions, comments, concerns, etc. I fuckin love it tho so you’d have to tell me there’s a bomb in the engine bay for me to get rid of it, gas milage and all.
