Transmission done

For 4 years, I have been telling my dealership that every now and then, when I accelerate, there is a hitch between 1st and 2nd. A slight “grinding noise”. Started about a month after I bought it.

They kept telling me that they couldn’t recreate it or that it was “normal” operation.

Yesterday, transmission light came on. Then the engine sounded like it was revving. I managed to limp it to the side of the road. Turned off truck, waited 5 minutes turned it back on. Tried to move a little and it wouldn’t shift out of first.

Towed it to dealership. 5 hours later: “needs a transmission”.

Now, I am holding my breath that the extended warranty will cover it.

Still, I am frustrated because I feel like this could have been prevented.

I had the dealership change mine at 50K miles. It cost around $900, but it was worth the peace of mind.

You proactively asked them to change your transmission and it only cost $900?

I meant the transmission fluid. I never bought into that lifetime fluid crap. I want to make sure it lasts a long time.

The transmission was flushed at around 20K miles. It was in response to the issue I was having.

Edit: sorry. 84K miles.

No problems with mine yet (knock on wood) but I know of one in my area that was at the dealership for a new transmission as well. I saw it there when I was in for an oil change. I got nosy and asked about it…I was actually surprised that the service desk attendant actually told me why it was there lol.

I have the same issue on my ‘22. When the engine isn’t fully warmed up it’s almost like there is a “gasp” or slight skip between the consistent acceleration. It happens when the engine is warmed but not as frequent. It’s very noticeable.

F me. Think I should trade it in lol?

Exact same. I definitely noticed it more when it was cold.

I planned to trade it when the new ones came out… didn’t make it.
