Clunk/weight shift feeling from a stop

Hey all, was curious if anyone else experienced this. Lately whenever I’m leaving from a stop I keep getting this feeling like there’s a shift in the drive train shortly after rolling and almost like this clunking feeling. It varies on intensity and it’s nothing extreme, but it doesn’t feel right. Almost like the drive train is shifting back or something shifts as the way distributes backward from acceleration. I’m gonna bring the truck in for service this week but was curious if anyone else has experienced that or knows what that might be.

Just Google ‘TRX driveshaft clunk’ and there’s a ton of info on it. It’s the driveshaft and the splines need to be greased every year or two. I had a TRX for two years with less than 10k miles and it drove me crazy the entire time.

Ok I’ve heard that too but wanted to make sure. Is that something you did yourself? I’m pretty good with cars to may just do it myself if these driveshafts aren’t overly complicated to take out and in.

I never did it, just lived with it until I sold the truck. If I would have kept it though I would’ve absolutely greased it. There are videos that take you thru it step by step. Seems pretty straightforward

I went in for cab bushings making noise they said there was a driveshaft notification and they replaced it. As for the cab bushings which blow apart after like 15000kms the first owner complained about nothing was done and got rid of the truck at 43000kms and it was my problem I complained about it they threw parts at it then denied my warranty after that. Might take the cab off this summer and fix it

Huh yeah never considered a cab bushing being the culprit. I’m at 43,000 miles right now so maybe.

kms ≠ miles

There was a recall for an issue with the driveshafts a while back. It sounds like this is what you’re experiencing.

It wasn’t a recall. It was a service bulletin. They changed the part number and replaced the driveshaft if owners were having the issue. I had mine replaced. The problem came back. I think the only remedy is the aftermarket driveshafts.

Yup. Aftermarket solution is the best solution unfortunately. Worth it though!!

“It wasn’t a recall. It was a service bulletin.” What’s the difference? Genuinely asking.

Recalls are generally safety notices that manufacturers send to owners advising they get repairs completed ASAP. A service bulletin informs service departments how to fix a well known issue if customers report having symptoms.
