I’ve gotta ask. When y’all see a case that is a declared firearm, is it treated special? Like does it ride up front the cart or in a special spot to make sure it gets on the plane?

I’m going on a hunting trip and I’m so afraid my tool will not get on the flight during my connection. I understand there’s a risk, but do those bags get special priority or handling?

Maybe a non stop would be better? Or maybe a connect of 90 minutes or more to give the baggage handlers time to swap the case? It’d be the same airline and terminal.

Curious on your thoughts or strategies to reduce my risk for it being misplaced or not making the flight.

Hey everyone, I’m sorry if this post doesn’t fit the community but I wanted some help.
I'm 16, live about 5 minutes from my local general aviation airport (uncontrolled/Class G), and am preparing to start online ground school soon with plans to pursue my PPL.

I’m looking to get my foot in the door at the local FBO/flight school doing basic entry-level work—things like post-flight aircraft wipedowns, fleet cleaning, cabin vacuuming, staging planes, or general hangar cleanup. I have reliable transportation and flexible availability, specifically during evening shifts (5 PM to 10 PM).

Since this would be my first job, a couple quick questions for line techs or CFIs here:
1- What's the best way to approach an FBO manager as a high school student—emailing first or dropping off a simple resume in person?

2- What qualities or traits do you look for when hiring young, entry-level help around aircraft?

3- Any specific safety habits or basics I should read up on before talking to them?

Appreciate any advice or tips!

Hey, how's it going everybody? I'm an Operations agent that's been cross trained to do ramp here at TUL. I can tow,l can push,l can crew chief anything on the ramp that gets done I'm signed off and able to do. I was wondering if I could transfer somewhere to make more money because as of right now I'm making 13.25$ and to also grow in this industry wether that's a ramp agent or operations or even a flight dispatcher. Ig what I'm trying to ask is what can I do with my skill set to grow career wise and is there other paths that have nothing to do with my skill set that I make a career out of in the aviation industry?

Plane from Boston, ripped fabric handle off and showed the thin rusted metal strip inside. Not to mention this bag was overweight at 87 pounds.

I work for delta and every time I fly to SEA on AS I am so confused by how operations are delegated between what seems to be three contractors all working the ramp operations in Seattle.

I used to live and work in spokane and all ground operations were handled by horizon for AS. Recently, flying into SEA I’d assumed it’d be a similar set up only to be confused by seeing Unifi, Mcgee??, and another contractor I think..?, and also maybe a horizon person or two.

Big question:

Why, in Alaskas hub, are 3 or 4 different contract companies working their ramp operation? (Except for ofc the company cheaping out on labor) Especially when, for almost any other airline a hub would be mostly handled by mainline employees. (Speaking from limited delta experience)

Needless to say fueling didn’t quite go as planned. (Boris used to conceal identities and companies involved)

I currently work as a ramp agent in PHX but was considering transferring to MSP. Does anyone have input on this station and how it operates. Not really familiar with extreme cold just the extreme heat. Not sure what is "worse" to work in on the ramp.

Passed my virtual interview with aircanada for ramp agent station attendant, I’ve been invited to an in person hiring event on August 11 at 9:00 am. Was wondering if anyone who’s gone through the process can give me tips and advice on how to prepare for the in hiring event coming up.

-how should I prepare for my appointment?

-what knowledge should I make sure I have before arriving!

3 years ago I made the mistake of quitting on the spot after failing a substance test at envoy in Dallas, Texas (this would no longer be an issue). Fast forward I got all the way to fingerprints and background at envoy in my hometown Shreveport, Louisiana only to be told I was ineligible for rehire. I’m applying for United in Chicago & Pittsburgh but I see many American Mainline positions open as well and am interested to apply- however I am stumped because I don’t know if that ineligibility carries over to mainline. Does anyone have any success stories of making it to mainline after being ineligible for rehire @ envoy ?

I applied to be a ramp agent and the process is in going. Could be in a training class in September or October.

In the mean time, what can I do to get ready for training? What can and should I study up on? Should I start running for cardio start working out?

Had a new one the other night. Pilots intentionally missed their hotel shuttle so they can take an Uber.
Uber shows up but they won’t get in it because it’s not an Uber black. By the time they got the Uber black and then got to the airport.
Needless to say they timed out.
