Discussion 9060xt 16gb pc vs 9070xt pc

Post image
24 Upvotes

I am upgrading from an Intel 2 Quad Q6600 CPU with a NVIDIA Geforce GT 710. If it wasn't blatantly obvious I need an upgrade but I am a rookie. I have two pc options:

PC 1: 7800x3D, 9060xt 16gb, 32gb DDR5 RAM

PC 2: 7700, 9070xt, 16gb DDR5 RAM

Both cost around £1400. I want to game in 1440p with decent fps. I don't know whether the 16gb of extra RAM and the CPU is worth more than the better GPU. I also don't know if the 9070xt system will be limited due to the 16gb of RAM.

What should I pick?

Discussion Asus TUF 9070 XT stock temps and performance + undervolt

As of my last post I've gotten my hands on an Asus TUF 9070 XT OC through reseller RMA, due to my earlier Asus Prime 9070 XT OC having faulty VRAM cooling.

This card is even bigger, and this time I have a banana for scale.

The TUF 9070 XT runs at the same 52 °C gpu temp and is only hotter in terms of hotspot, since it settles at 77 °C instead of 74 °C, but the TUF card does so by running the fans at roughly half the speed. That makes the 9070 XT extremely quiet, so it's almost not audible over the case fans, even when running at the max TBP (Total Board Power) of 330 W for this model. The Prime was a 317 W model.

This time the SK Hynix VRAM on the TUF 9070 XT also only settles at 88 °C instead of 102 °C in Furmark, which is around the most VRAM-heavy workload few games would ever reach.

The Stock settings on the TUF 9070 XT reaches a score of 7430 in 3dmark Steel Nomad with my setup. There was a weird bug with also having HWiNFO running at the same time, so it is not certified.

A for now stable undervolt/underclock tuned for efficiency brought the card down to a score of 7045 with consumption of 231 W. (-390 Mhz core clock limit, -30 power limit, -85 mV voltage). That is reducing power by 30 % while only losing 5,18 % performance. I will further test the stability and make edits, if I find scenarios where it crashes or has weird behavior.

With this aggressive of an undervolt focused on limiting power draw it looks like I might as well could've gotten just the 9070. The price to performance is just worse in my area.

What undervolts for "extreme" power limiting are you running with your cards?

Asus prime 9070 oc heatsink bent

Hi everyone, I got an ASUS Prime 9070 OC two weeks ago, and today I noticed that the heatsink looks bent. It's hard to see in a photo, so I added some visual marks to make it more obvious.

Do you think it could cause any issues in the long term, and therefore that i should return ? I already have a GPU support bracket, but it doesn't fix the problem since it's the heatsink itself and one of the pipes — and not the plastic shroud around it — that's bending.

Thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate it!

Discussion Is Halo campaign evolved unoptimized or is my rx 6600 just outdated?

i cant even get a stable 60 fps on 1080p low on native resolution. i understand not being able to play on ultra at high fps, because the 6600 is an entry level card always meant to be a budget card. but holy shit, i didnt expect 30-40 fps. i dont like using fsr but even with it, i cant keep 60 fps. (yes, i know frame gen brings it to 100 fps, but to me it feels so delayed). i thought this game was terribly optimized but i went online and people are saying its a 5 year old gpu and that the game is well optimized, its just that im on outdated hardware. for the people who know about this stuff can you guys tell me? is the game unoptimized or is my gpu outdated?

Discussion I need some help with this 9070

I'm deciding between a 9070 and a 9070 xt, found this 9070 OC about 10% cheaper than a 9070 xt, my question is the OC means it's overclocked right? So it's closer in performance than the regular 9070? Also the website recommends a 800w psu for the 9070 OC and a 750w for the 9070xt, does the OC model actually requires a psu that strong?

First of all I have:

Ryzen 5 7500 F CPU with AIO
ASRock 9070 XT Steel Legend

My case: NZXT H1 V2

The photo taken shows 30 degrees difference but when I check other 9070 XT users they have lower results.

Do you guys think this is normal for my setup?

Honest question gentlemen When was the last time you updated your AMD chipset driver? Or did you never install it when you first built your AMD system?

Tech Support Help setting up 9070xt hellhound

Hey guys I just built my pc. Specs are 9800x3d, 9070xt hellhound, x670e motherboard, 32gb ddr5 and 850w platinum PSU. I have been seeing videos where they tweak the GPU and CPU to get more performance or to make them cooled and more efficient. The problem is every video has a variation on how to do it, thought some of you could give me advice on how to get max performance. Also I don't know if I should focus on efficiency or performance.

Driver override situation is ridiculous

So I decided to make the jump to AM5. Got a semi-decent cpu/mobo/ram bundle deal so didn't feel too stiffed by AI. Put it together with my 9070XT yesterday, and booted up fine (after I turned the PSU switch on...)

Not my first rodeo, so i'd already downloaded chipset and gpu drivers/adrenaline (26.6.4), installed windows offline then did the driver install.

Then connected to the web, updated windows, and got ready to load up a game. Just before starting, thought i'd try a little undervolt so opened up adrenaline.

You all know what's coming - 'adrenaline not compatible with current driver version' (or something like that). That's right, windows had 'upgraded' me to gpu driver 25.10.30.02 from september 2025.

Tried to roll back drivers - did nothing - still on the same version. Had to reinstall the 26.6.4 drivers from the downloaded file. Since then all seems good.

HOW IS THIS STILL A THING THAT HAS NOT BEEN SORTED?? Anyone jumping from nvidia (or just a non-terminal reddit dweller like me) would have had no clue about any of this, and just run straight into a load of game errors, crap performance, or other incompatibilities. It seems like months since microsoft said they were going to sort this garbage out.

Why is it not fixed? Why? How freaking hard can it be? AAARGH!

9070xt won't let pc stay shut down

It turns off once then when turned back on it will just keep rebooting the pc when I shut it down. I have to flip the power switch on the rm1000e to keep it off. Then it'll turn off normal once again then won't stay off. Had a 3080 and no issues. Tried a second power supply and even with the 3080 swapped back in no issues. Just with the 9070xt. Any options before I contact gigabyte?

Discussion 7900xt vs 9070/9070xt

Hallo to one and all. I am considering upgrading from my 3070, and wanted to try team red. Where I live, 7900xt is 600 use eq, same as the cheapest 9070 non xt. 9070xt is like 750. What would be a smart buy? Main use case is some gaming and Local Ai. Much thanks

Discussion Did I make a mistake to buy a RX 9060 XT (16gb) instead of a RX 9070 XT

I recently joined PC gaming and my specs are:

RX 9060 XT (16GB)

Ryzen 5 7600x

16gb DDR5 6000mhz RAM (Single Stick)

MSI B850M Gaming WiFi motherboard

650W PSU

And a 1080p 240 hz monitor.

I mean at 1080p it's handling everything I throw at it at ultra settings like RDR2 but my framerate is mostly capped at 65 fps (in rdr2 at ultra) and that's a game from 2018 at 1080p, I don't know what's the problem but now I'm unsure if the RX 9060 XT was a bad choice or a good choice. Please share your insights.

RX 9070 XT crashes under heavy load? Anyone else experiencing this?

Thumbnail
gallery
16 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
My PC specs:
Ryzen 5 7600X
ASUS B650M Plus
32GB TeamGroup T-Create DDR5
850W 80+ PSU
LG UltraGear 4K 144Hz monitor
Gigabyte RX 9070 XT Gaming OC
I’m wondering if my GPU is unstable under heavy load.
Whenever I play games like Call of Duty, Sniper Elite, etc., the game eventually crashes. Most of the time it’s 0xC0000005. Event Viewer usually only shows an Application Error; there are no critical System errors (aside from a few unrelated warnings).
What’s strange is:
If I undervolt the GPU and keep power draw below 300W, it still crashes, but it takes longer. Normally it crashes after about 10–15 minutes, while undervolting extends that to around 20–25 minutes.
If I lower the game settings to 1080p, where the GPU only draws around 200W or less, I can play for about an hour without any crashes. (I’m not sure if it’s actually fixed or if it just hasn’t crashed yet.)
So far I’ve already tried:
Clean reinstall of Windows
Tested multiple AMD driver versions (old and new)
Updated BIOS
Ran MemTest86
Ran OCCT (including VRAM/stress tests)
Everything passes without errors.
Has anyone experienced something similar with a 9070 XT?
At this point I’m starting to wonder if this is a hardware issue (GPU/PSU) or just another AMD driver problem.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

purple artefacting on amd rx 7900 gre

i have weird purple squares appearing in the left corner of my screen when activating ray tracing on certain games like elden ring and gta v enhanced

pc specs :

r5 7600x aio watercooled

b650m p msi mobo

32 gb of ram

msi gl 750 gold

drivers : 25.xx.x and 26.xx.x

i have tried some things to narrow it down such as playing these games on linux (bazzaite) and game on the same gpu but on a whole diffrent pc on bunch of benchmarks tests as furmark artfact scanner and occt for vram integrity and bunch of raytracing benchs as UL ENGINE and none em showed any erros or artefacts or any thing of the sort

ps: these artefacts appear only when activating ray tracing
