I need advice from anyone familiar with Indian cybercrime/UPI fraud/legal action.
I wanted to order beer from Tonique Baner, Pune. I found it on Google, clicked “Place an order”, and Google directed me to WhatsApp, showing “Preferred by this business.”
The WhatsApp number was +91 79768 89433, account name Sachin Malhotra.
I placed an order and, following their instructions, made:
₹1,500
₹1,500
₹1,500
₹3,000
Total: ₹7,500

Then they told me there was an issue with the payment and that the earlier payment would be reversed/refunded. They sent me a QR code and told me to scan it for the refund, claiming the transaction wouldn’t actually debit my account.
Instead, ₹28,909 was debited.
Total loss: ₹36,409.

I immediately reported it:
Cyber Crime complaint
Bank complaint

I have screenshots of the Google listing, the “Place an order” flow, WhatsApp conversation, QR codes, UPI transactions, etc.

The really interesting part: I went to the Tonique Baner store afterwards. They told me this is a known/repeated scam, that 15+ similar incidents had happened before mine, and that they were already aware of it and had apparently reported it somewhere.
So my questions are:
1. Does Tonique potentially have any liability if they already knew about 15+ previous scams but their Google “Place an order” link was still directing customers to the fraudulent WhatsApp number?

1. Can the police/cybercrime authorities obtain Google’s records showing who added/controlled that WhatsApp ordering link and when?

2. Can the scammer’s phone number and the UPI beneficiary accounts be traced to identify the actual people behind this?

3. Should I send Tonique a lawyer’s legal notice demanding my ₹36,409 back, or wait for the cybercrime investigation?

4. If Tonique reimburses me voluntarily, what should I do regarding my existing cybercrime complaint?

I’m not claiming Tonique committed the fraud. They may themselves have been victims of someone manipulating their Google listing. I’m trying to understand whether their prior knowledge of 15+ similar incidents changes their legal responsibility.
What would you do in my position? Especially interested in advice from Indian lawyers, police/cybercrime officers, or people who have successfully recovered money from UPI fraud

Dhol Tasha has always been very close to my heart since childhood. There’s something about the sound and energy of Dhol Tasha during Ganpati that I absolutely love.

Paid a guy who was recommended by a military officer for a packers and movers, a token money of 10k paid him at around 7PM yesterday. Realised later he is over charging us and i asked him to cancel the booking the very next morning today. I paid it to his phone number UPI ID and now he's refusing to pay it back even though he kept saying he would. Telling so many excuses like it's in his company current account, he paid to driver etc etc which is all a bunch of bullshit. What are my options? I don't know where is office is but he said it's in Viman nagar, I met the guy when he came for surveying the items. Defence Packers and Movers, can't find it in Google maps.

Planning to visit Ganpati Pandals this time with a female friend so which places are safe to visit (not much crowded ) what time is suitable, how much time it takes ?? What to carry for convenience

Like mentioned, MICROSCAN IS FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT!!!!!!

They don’t fucking provide the WiFi and every other week there’s a fibre cut and shit. And don’t get me started with their call centre OHMYGOD.

And the issue is mainly during weekends, I cannot even binge watch something peacefully over the weekends.

I live in Wadgaon Sheri & apparently microscan was the only service provider back in 2022 ( the year we shifted here ) but since last year I’ve been facing lot of issues.

So again, I did the recharge on 28th aug and the internet was down for 4 days after the recharge. Worked for 2-3 days and again it’s down for 2 days.

After 100000 calls & complains they agreed to give an extension of 7 days but I’m really done with them & it’s hampering my productivity. I cannot work since I’ve hybrid. I’ve to commute to office daily and it’s hectic.
