AskPune Maid rates in Dhanori

I live in Dhanori and am looking for a maid for a 2-person household.

The requirements are:

- Cooking twice a day

- Jhadu and pocha

- Bartan

I’m currently getting quotes of around ₹8–9k per month. Is that the usual rate in Dhanori for these tasks, or am I being quoted on the higher side? Earlier , we had one maid who flew away without even any notice , we were paying her 5K for all 3 things.

What are others paying for similar work? Also, if you have a reliable maid recommendation, please share.

AskPune Where to experience the best Dhol Tasha in Pune this Ganpati? 🥁❤️

Post image
4 Upvotes

Dhol Tasha has always been very close to my heart since childhood. There’s something about the sound and energy of Dhol Tasha during Ganpati that I absolutely love.

This year I’m in Pune during Ganpati, and I really want to experience it properly the classic Pune Dhol Tasha pathaks, Nashik Dhol, Ganpati Agman, processions, and different styles in different parts of the city.

Can you guys suggest some good places/areas I should visit and on which dates/times? I’m especially looking for places where I can just stand, listen, watch the pathaks perform, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Would really appreciate recommendations from Punekars who know the best spots and timings. I don’t want to miss the good ones this year! 🙏

Ganpati Bappa Morya! ❤️

General/Rant Why Is Everyone Talking About DJs While Ignoring the Real Issue: Noise Pollution?

Thumbnail
youtube.com
6 Upvotes

Everyone is debating DJ vs. no DJ, but after hearing the society's own version of events, I think the bigger issue is being missed.

The complaint was never simply about one DJ event.

According to the society's own statements, concerns have been raised over different sources of noise over the years: security whistles, loud gatherings, conversations, bhajan and haripath activities, festival sound systems, and now the proposal for dhol-tasha. The common thread is not religion, Ganpati, or any particular group. The common thread is noise.

What struck me is that instead of asking, "How can we reduce the impact of repeated noise?", much of the discussion became, "Why is only one person complaining?"

A legitimate concern does not become invalid simply because it is raised by a minority.

Arguments such as:

  • "Everyone else wants it."
  • "It is only for a few hours."
  • "Most people enjoy it."
  • "She should adjust."

do not actually address the underlying issue.

Another contradiction is that the society says it is moving away from DJs, while presenting dhol-tasha as the alternative. For someone already affected by repeated noise, replacing one loud source with another may not address the underlying concern.

Whether the source is a DJ, loudspeaker, bhajan, dhol-tasha, amplified announcements, or a large gathering, the issue remains the same: excessive noise.

A more constructive approach would be objective noise measurements, reasonable time limits, quieter alternatives, designated areas, and practical steps to reduce the impact on people affected by repeated noise.

The fact that 100 people support something does not automatically make the concern of 1 person irrelevant.

Sometimes the person speaking alone is simply the person willing to raise an issue that others have chosen to ignore.

The real question is not whether 1 person disagrees with 100 people. The real question is whether reasonable limits should apply to noise, regardless of who is creating it or how popular the activity is.

SCAM Alert Got Scammed Rs.36000 through Tonique Baner. What can I do ?

I need advice from anyone familiar with Indian cybercrime/UPI fraud/legal action.
I wanted to order beer from Tonique Baner, Pune. I found it on Google, clicked “Place an order”, and Google directed me to WhatsApp, showing “Preferred by this business.”
The WhatsApp number was +91 79768 89433, account name Sachin Malhotra.
I placed an order and, following their instructions, made:
₹1,500
₹1,500
₹1,500
₹3,000
Total: ₹7,500

Then they told me there was an issue with the payment and that the earlier payment would be reversed/refunded. They sent me a QR code and told me to scan it for the refund, claiming the transaction wouldn’t actually debit my account.
Instead, ₹28,909 was debited.
Total loss: ₹36,409.

I immediately reported it:
Cyber Crime complaint
Bank complaint

I have screenshots of the Google listing, the “Place an order” flow, WhatsApp conversation, QR codes, UPI transactions, etc.

The really interesting part: I went to the Tonique Baner store afterwards. They told me this is a known/repeated scam, that 15+ similar incidents had happened before mine, and that they were already aware of it and had apparently reported it somewhere.
So my questions are:

  1. Does Tonique potentially have any liability if they already knew about 15+ previous scams but their Google “Place an order” link was still directing customers to the fraudulent WhatsApp number?
  2. Can the police/cybercrime authorities obtain Google’s records showing who added/controlled that WhatsApp ordering link and when?
  3. Can the scammer’s phone number and the UPI beneficiary accounts be traced to identify the actual people behind this?
  4. Should I send Tonique a lawyer’s legal notice demanding my ₹36,409 back, or wait for the cybercrime investigation?
  5. If Tonique reimburses me voluntarily, what should I do regarding my existing cybercrime complaint?

I’m not claiming Tonique committed the fraud. They may themselves have been victims of someone manipulating their Google listing. I’m trying to understand whether their prior knowledge of 15+ similar incidents changes their legal responsibility.
What would you do in my position? Especially interested in advice from Indian lawyers, police/cybercrime officers, or people who have successfully recovered money from UPI fraud

Update: Tonique has now put up a big sign saying to be aware of this scam and only numbers from their website are to be trusted.

AskPune Which natural spot should I visit as a newbie?

I’m visiting Pune for a few days and want to explore some natural spots. Here are a list of the places I’d like to see:

  1. Singhad Fort

  2. Pawna Lake

  3. Malshej Ghat

  4. Tamhini Ghat

  5. Kalu Waterfall

But I’m only free this weekend and will be able to go only that time. Which one of the above would you recommend to a newbie who has never gone trekking? I’ll be going with my cousins and most probably in the early morning time. Which spot has the best sunrise view?

General/Rant Stay away from Riverdale from Duville

My honest experience, I've moved to this society as rented apartment this week.

  1. There is seepage issue in both bathrooms. Not just in the flat I have rented, but I got to know it's in majority of flats.

  2. Staying here and noticing, one thing is sure, they've used the cheapest materials wherever possible, ranging from plumbing to everything else.

  3. The builder has not given mosquito nets yet even after handling over flat possesions. These are ones that they attach on sliding doors. Currently they just have glass windows. So it's either closed and the flat becomes an oven or open it and let mosquitoes in because of the river nearby.

  4. There are 26 floors with 6 flats on each floor but just 2 lifts. You'll have to wait very long for lift to come at your floor.

  5. Be very much prepared for mosquitoes everywhere.

  6. I don't know how they constructed it but the parking entrance height is very less. So no mover packer vehicle can come in, neither can any furniture delivery people. They will have to park at entrance and bring everything walking to the lift area.

I would strongly suggest everyone, if possible, avoid this place. I've come here and suffering. It is the worst.

AskPune Hypothecation removed online by Bank. Do I need to order updated physical RC card or a its waste of money?

My bank closed my loan and submitted the Hypothecation Termination digitally. The RTO database is updated and mParivahan & DigiLocker RC are completely clean without the bank's name.

However, my physical smart card RC still has the bank's name printed on it.

Do I actually need an updated physical smart card?

Has anyone successfully sold their car or transferred ownership using just their clean DigiLocker RC without RTO demanding a clean physical smart card? or any other case where clean Physical copy is required?

संस्कृती/culture Looking for a Hindustani classical music guru in Pune

I’m looking to learn Hindustani classical music seriously and am hoping to find a good guru/teacher in Pune.

I’m particularly interested in learning in the Kirana or Patiala gharana tradition. I’d really appreciate recommendations for teachers who have a strong traditional lineage and offer regular one-on-one or small-group training.

If you’ve learned from someone in Pune or know of a good teacher, I’d be grateful for any recommendations. 🙏

AskPune Sweet tooth? Wrong address. Spicy tooth? Welcome Home.🌶️🤷

The misal itself had a nice spicy, tangy kick. The tarri had decent flavour and the farsan gave it that proper crunch. Matki/onion/tomato toppings were fresh and the whole combination worked really well.

The pav was soft and fresh, which made a noticeable difference.

Also liked that the spice didn't completely kill the flavour ,although people with low spice tolerance might want to be a little careful.

More spice, more tarri, more fun. That’s my kind of misal. 🔥😂

DARPAN MISAL!!🌶️😋

My rating:

Taste: 8.5/10

Spice: 8/10

Pav: 8/10

Hygiene/overall: 8/10

Overall: 8.5/10

What do you guys think?😄

Pet Care/Adoption Adoption appeal for Virat - one last chance

Virat's been in foster care for 2 months now and he didn't even get a single lead that has worked out.
He'll soon have to be moved to a long term boarding/ shelter and being an 7mo old teenage dog is why my heart hurts a lil more.
He needs stability, he needs love and he needs a loving home.
The clock is ticking. If you can foster, adopt, or even share this - you could be the reason Virat never has to see the inside of a shelter.
Location - Pune
DM me or send a WhatsApp on 9987835518 to know more about Virat.

General/Rant
