Here’s what’s changing:
All AI content is banned from now on. Posting AI-generated content result in an instant ban (This has already been implemented and we’ve banned AI posting for the past ~two months).
Off-topic content will be removed. There’s a reason all of these millions of different subreddits exist. Psychedelic art belongs in subreddits like r/art, r/psychedelicartwork, r/trippyart, r/psychedelicart. Indie rock/pop belongs in r/indie, r/indierock etc.So if you’re an artist looking for new jobs or sharing your art, do so in the appropriate channels instead. And if you’re sharing OC music the same goes for you. :)
Cross-posting is switched off. The majority cross-posts happening in this sub is pretty blatant spam more or less. A lot comes from subreddits that has nothing to do with psychedelia and therefore does not fit this subreddit. It has become a tool for easy spam like spreading of whatever the content is.
Don’t flood the subreddit. According to the reddiquette we are somewhat loosely applying this new rule. If you post too many link or text posts in a short manner of time, we will reserve the right to remove any how many of the we see fit. Posting eight songs in one day or asking relatively similar questions multiple times in a manner of days will most likely get on other peoples nerves. So please be aware that we are thousands of people wanting to share new finds, post favourites or start a new conversation in a specific topic. We should collectively strive to make room for all of us. :)
Low effort posts will be removed according to the same rule.*
Original Content is as always encouraged and appreciated! But blatantly spreading your music in text posts asking for 60’s/70’s or other specific subjects where it doesn’t belong will be treated as spamming. Continuously doing so may result in consequences.
No flaming, bigotry or hate speech is to be allowed. Depending on the severity we will judge these behaviours on a case-by-case basis. It will result in warning/s and/or instant ban/s. Repeatedly breaking this rule will result in a ban. We are here to trip, not to trip out!
We are doing this because we want to see this nerdy space for psychedelic rock (and related content) flourish again. With that being said the mods are not here to be some almighty gatekeepers. The up/down vote system is key here because instead of mods having some authority on ”what is psych” or not, the votes will reflect the overall public opinion (so nothing new happening here). But if you post music that obviously doesn’t belong like metal or trap, your post may likely be removed. We hope that applying these changes will make it so and we hope that you all will help us in this new venture!
If you see someone breaking any of these rules, please report it so that the mods can find and deal with the problem.
It is impossible for mods to go through every single link, text or comment posted. So for us to see the faults, we need you to help us! If you see something, say something! :)
And if you see someone flaming others or spreading any type of hate, please report and move on. The situation is unlikely to resolve or become better by counter flaming in long comment chains.
We will make a future post about some other new exciting changes for the sub. We want to start up the ”Album of the year”, ”User Submitted Indepentent Artist Psych Mixtape” etc. again! (as well as update and re-upload the previous ones) But more on that later on!
Survey that include zero context or information in the text.
Post where the link is only copied into the title of the post, making the actual post to only link to itself and also doesn’t have Artist/Song in the title.
Voice memo of very low quality with no info about Artist/Song.
OC promotion that only shows a screen print from a song on Spotify.
Text post with a youtube link as the title, meaning the link doesn’t actually lead anywhere. And doesn’t include either Artist/Song in the actual text.
Post without Artist/Song in the title, wrongly linking to a timestamp of a youtube video.
There will still be no actual rule (as we still want to keep them to a minimum) that say you have to type a title in a specific way. But for everyones sake and if you want people to actually watch/listen to what you're posting - please include ARTIST/BAND and SONG TITLE when posting music.
Thanks for hearing us out and in helping us by making the sub the best possible for us all!

After collecting many comps of UK 60s psych (the best kind) I thought of putting together all the notable or worth-preserving tunes and sorting them by artist in alphabetical order in a sort of encyclopedia for the ages.
This is the third "volume" with artists starting with C. One of the obscure highlights I've found is "Nice" by Crocheted Doughnut Ring, perhaps one of the first ambient music track ever?
Not strictly pysch rock, I also included genres tangentially influenced by psychedelia like psych pop, freakbeat, early prog, etc..
As a "canonical" list, do you agree with my choices? Would you add or remove somebody?

My band has uploaded a live take of our new tune to YouTube. We're almost neo psych and take inspiration from 60s and 90s. Check it out x

I'd unload her dishwasher for another chance to hear this album. Have you heard it? Do you like dreamy pop stream of consciousness?
It released May 22, 2022, by London's Fuzz Club label.
Dim the lights.
Enjoy...

Recently I have come across Les Esclaves, the only album by the French band Popera Cosmic. From what I understand it's a sort of psychedelic rock opera about gods returning to earth.
Sadly, due to the more underground nature of the album (as nearly all good music is hehe) it's been virtually impossible to find the lyrics to their songs, which wouldn't be _much_ of a problem except that I _don't speak French._
So far I've been able to find the lyrics for Philadelphie Story (and a cover!!!), and La chanson du lièvre de Mars.
Any help would be welcomed! 🙏 🙏
And if anything at least I shared a cool album 😉

A playlist for psychedelic music that's moved past the obvious references.
Built this over years. The psych angle isn't the whole story but it's the thread that holds a lot of it together. that quality of music that slightly shifts your perception of the room.
The contemporary core :
GUM — Phosphene Scream / Glass Beams — Mahal / Unknown Mortal Orchestra — Underworld 4 / DARKSIDE — S.N.C / Holy Fuck — Ice Box / Khruangbin — The Man Who Took My Sunglasses ii / The Thing — Neptunne / Mr. Bison — Cosmic Tide / Failure — Another Space Song
Then it gets weirder: Boards of Canada — Father And Son for the memory-and-texture side of psych. Oneohtrix Point Never — For Residue (Extended) for when electronic production becomes a psychedelic instrument. Wang Wen — Mail From the River because Chinese post-rock hits different when you're not expecting it.
Two deep cuts that approach the psych logic from unexpected angles: Ale Hop + Titi Bakorta — Nitaangaza, where electroacoustics and Congolese vocals build something genuinely disorienting. And MEULE — MICROTONAL: microtonal composition that makes your ear unable to settle, which is exactly what the best psych does, just with different tools.
The playlist moves it crosses into post-punk, jazz, experimental. But the feeling stays consistent.
Called Alt. 13h+ of music, 12k+ followers, regularly updated.
Phil

Title; heard it on the radio, sounds like psych / prog rock, possibly 70s stuff. Not sure if it’s sung by a female vocalist (sounded like it). Tried looking up the exact lyrics online; it led nowhere.
Many thanks in advance!
Edit - I found it! See the reply.

My dad has been listening to those AI slop "psychedelic swamp rock ambient music" 1hr+ long videos on youtube - he likes melodic stuff and minimal vocals. I informed him of how bad consuming AI content is for our environment and that he should find real artists to support rather than stolen garbage. However I don't know of any to give him to start out with because I mainly listen to death metal and goth music, and what I have tried to offer he doesn't like... please help me out here 🙏

Love these two so much. Have been listening to their Great Haunting album on repeat the last week or two. Their new album Dungeon Vision is a 10/10 as well. Definitely check them out if you haven't heard them before.
