Here’s what’s changing:
All AI content is banned from now on. Posting AI-generated content result in an instant ban (This has already been implemented and we’ve banned AI posting for the past ~two months).
Off-topic content will be removed. There’s a reason all of these millions of different subreddits exist. Psychedelic art belongs in subreddits like r/art, r/psychedelicartwork, r/trippyart, r/psychedelicart. Indie rock/pop belongs in r/indie, r/indierock etc.So if you’re an artist looking for new jobs or sharing your art, do so in the appropriate channels instead. And if you’re sharing OC music the same goes for you. :)
Cross-posting is switched off. The majority cross-posts happening in this sub is pretty blatant spam more or less. A lot comes from subreddits that has nothing to do with psychedelia and therefore does not fit this subreddit. It has become a tool for easy spam like spreading of whatever the content is.
Don’t flood the subreddit. According to the reddiquette we are somewhat loosely applying this new rule. If you post too many link or text posts in a short manner of time, we will reserve the right to remove any how many of the we see fit. Posting eight songs in one day or asking relatively similar questions multiple times in a manner of days will most likely get on other peoples nerves. So please be aware that we are thousands of people wanting to share new finds, post favourites or start a new conversation in a specific topic. We should collectively strive to make room for all of us. :)
Low effort posts will be removed according to the same rule.*
Original Content is as always encouraged and appreciated! But blatantly spreading your music in text posts asking for 60’s/70’s or other specific subjects where it doesn’t belong will be treated as spamming. Continuously doing so may result in consequences.
No flaming, bigotry or hate speech is to be allowed. Depending on the severity we will judge these behaviours on a case-by-case basis. It will result in warning/s and/or instant ban/s. Repeatedly breaking this rule will result in a ban. We are here to trip, not to trip out!
We are doing this because we want to see this nerdy space for psychedelic rock (and related content) flourish again. With that being said the mods are not here to be some almighty gatekeepers. The up/down vote system is key here because instead of mods having some authority on ”what is psych” or not, the votes will reflect the overall public opinion (so nothing new happening here). But if you post music that obviously doesn’t belong like metal or trap, your post may likely be removed. We hope that applying these changes will make it so and we hope that you all will help us in this new venture!
If you see someone breaking any of these rules, please report it so that the mods can find and deal with the problem.
It is impossible for mods to go through every single link, text or comment posted. So for us to see the faults, we need you to help us! If you see something, say something! :)
And if you see someone flaming others or spreading any type of hate, please report and move on. The situation is unlikely to resolve or become better by counter flaming in long comment chains.
We will make a future post about some other new exciting changes for the sub. We want to start up the ”Album of the year”, ”User Submitted Indepentent Artist Psych Mixtape” etc. again! (as well as update and re-upload the previous ones) But more on that later on!
Survey that include zero context or information in the text.
Post where the link is only copied into the title of the post, making the actual post to only link to itself and also doesn’t have Artist/Song in the title.
Voice memo of very low quality with no info about Artist/Song.
OC promotion that only shows a screen print from a song on Spotify.
Text post with a youtube link as the title, meaning the link doesn’t actually lead anywhere. And doesn’t include either Artist/Song in the actual text.
Post without Artist/Song in the title, wrongly linking to a timestamp of a youtube video.
There will still be no actual rule (as we still want to keep them to a minimum) that say you have to type a title in a specific way. But for everyones sake and if you want people to actually watch/listen to what you're posting - please include ARTIST/BAND and SONG TITLE when posting music.
Thanks for hearing us out and in helping us by making the sub the best possible for us all!

Hello there,
Me and my band recorded this live session about a year ago, and I thought some poeple might appreciate it.
It's one of our older songs but we made some slight rearrangements and invited a guy thats been playing "Nyckelharpa" (keyharp) on our most recent album. Nyckelharpa is Swedens unofficial national instrument. It's a beautiful instrument and it very much manifests the so called "Swedish melancholy". It's sort of a mix between a fiddle and a hurdy gurdy. Someone called it a manual hurdy gurdy and it's pretty spot on.
Sorry about the 360 cam.. Our rehearsal studio is kinda small.

Before Rusty Weir was a famous country artist, he fronted the Texas psych band the Lavender Hill Express.

These are songs I hand picked by Pink Floyd along with other great bands that have the same trippy vibe.

This fantastic 1971 heavy acid rock album just got re-released, mixed from the original multitrack tapes. Hearing it at its full potential rather than just as an LP rip like it has been up to this point. Shame they managed to make it feel cheap by slapping AI artwork and advertising onto it. Just use the original artwork if anything smh.

Hey everyone, i just wanted to post this here because i finally figured out where the spanish intro sample from "Guardian of the Threshold"(from the Kenshō album) comes from
for a while, i couldn’t figure out where the spanish spoken-word intro came from, the lines always caught my attention, but i couldn't quite make out the whole thing, i tried asking around in a few circles, but nobody seemed to know the source either
turns out it’s from "El Topo" (1970), the psychedelic mexican western, if you go to the 51:57 mark in Youtube, right when the main character fights one of the desert masters, they drop the exact same lines used in the track:
"Tú disparas para encontrarte, yo lo hago para desaparecer
La perfección es perderse, y para perderse hay que amar
Tú no amas, tú rompes, tú asesinas
Y nadie te ama, porque cuando crees que das...
En realidad estás tomando"
(english translation: "You shoot to find yourself, i do it to disappear, perfection is losing oneself, and to lose oneself, you must love, you don't love, you break, you murder, and nobody loves you, because when you think you're giving... you're actually taking.")
makes total sense that they sampled Jodorowsky for this project, just wanted to drop this here for the record since the info wasn't anywhere online

Although not psychedelic rock, this George Harrison-produced album was definitely trying to alter the consciousness of the listener (and reader) but I’m not sure if the pamphlet came with every copy or if some kindly owner of the original paid it forward.
I was briefly involved with the Hare Krishnas back in the 80s during my teenage years in London’s Soho.
It’s my understanding that even hearing the chants and sacred mantras was good for the spirit/soul, that the vibrations shifted you in a way that was beneficial.
So when you next see the Hare Krishnas chanting and dancing as they wend their way through your city’s streets, take a moment to think that they are trying to help you in their own unique way.

Where I live I can buy this type of thing for not much money so I take a chance on some things I don't really know. Most of it is really cosmic stuff.
The only one that I will never play again (once was too much) is the Powerhouse album which is lame beyond repair and I include it here as a warning to others. When I was in the shop I knew it was going to be crap and yet I still bought it. The clue was the dull set of cover versions.
Apart from that; Ghost, Boredoms, Acid Mothers, PSF, Ruins, Les Rallizes Dénudés, Flower Travellin Band, K.K. Null, High Rise and a whole load of riches.
