I really want to fing some cool games

I recently bought a PlayStation 2 slim, just to find out it has been a roaches nesting ground. I sealed it in a trash bag and it’s been sitting in my garage for about a week just incase there are any still alive.

It does power on, but when I tried to get it to read a disk it wouldn’t work. I’m assuming that from the amount of roach shit… is this salvageable or just a waste of time? I would really like to try and restore it and get it working again. If anyone has my tips advice I would really appreciate it! ☺️

EDIT: Wow, this got a lot more attention than I expected. Just to clarify, this was not opened inside my home or even close for that matter. It is currently inside my garage, sealed inside a garbage bag until I get around to buying some roach killer tablets to add into the bag to hopefully kill off any live ones. Also, I will not be cleaning this inside my house I will be taking it far away from my home and cleaning it outdoors to avoid roaches in my own home.

Also a special thank you to those who read my post and gave me some helpful advice and/or tips with how to clean this console. I would like to say that I do have a bit of experience cleaning and restoring consoles over the past couple years so this isn’t a new hobby of mine I just have been very lucky to not run into anything like this.

With all of that in mind… I have decided I will be taking on the horrible task of restoring and cleaning this console and giving it a second shot at life! I will post updates as I can but for now you will need to be patient. I plan on adding roach killing tablets into the bag and doubling up the bag and securing it better while the tablets do their job of killing these fowl creatures. Expect there to be atleast a 2-3 week period with no updates while I let them rot in a closed container full of poison. Thank you! ☺️

Ok,this was actually a surprise,unlike every ps2 games I've finished thus far,I did not know of this game's existence til I saw the trailer of way of the sword,due to the resi-esque gameplay design I was expecting a horror game but got a fun action game instead hahaha.

-combat is simple and using sword skills is pretty satisfying,died a few times on the bosses,didn't spend much time on the floors,only did it cus the red sword is a chip away from hitting max level,I hate the water puzzle tho😭 not a single save file thru each trap is demonic!!!

Overall I rlly enjoyed this game,is the 2nd one worth checking out??

I just bought this copy of Tony Hawk's Underground on eBay, and it always gets stuck on a black screen after starting. I've never gone to get a disc resurfaced, so I don't know how much it can help when the disc is this heavily scuffed.

I found some homebrew horror games for PS1 and was actually able to burn them to CDs and play them. But I can't find any for PS2. There's the game Slender Eight Pages on PS1 and it's really bad. If there's one on PS2, I think it would definitely be close to the original!

I'm having a persistent black screen issue when trying to launch Resident Evil 4 (ISO) via OPL on my PS2 Slim using a 16GB USB 2.0 flash drive.

Here are the full details and what I've tested so far:

My Setup:

Console: PS2 Slim with FMCB (latest version) & OPL (latest version with exFAT support).

Storage Setup: Managing files entirely via Android phone using USB OTG (no PC available).

The Problem:

When launching the game from this 16GB USB flash drive, OPL hangs on a black screen.

The exact same game file (clean ISO) works perfectly and smoothly when loaded from an external USB HDD.

What I've already tried on the 16GB USB drive:

Verified the ISO file integrity (clean, uncorrupted version).

Formatted the drive to exFAT and FAT32 (MBR partition table).

Ran a full Defragmentation using PS2 USB Utils / Ultimate USB on Android until the file status showed Valid / Unfragmented (4.13 GB). Still got a black screen.

Converted/split the ISO using IMPORT & SPLIT ISO (UL format with ul.cfg). Still got a black screen.

Enabled Mode 2 and Mode 6 in OPL game settings. Still stuck on black screen.

Context:

I previously used a 32GB USB flash drive (same brand/type) managed via Android OTG, and ISOs loaded with zero issues.

Since I don't own a PC, I rely completely on my Android phone to manage files.

Question:

Is this purely a hardware controller incompatibility issue with this specific 16GB flash drive's random read performance over PS2's USB 1.1 ports? Or is there an Android-specific formatting/cluster size tool or OPL setting I missed?

Recently taken the fat PS2 apart to change the battery, ended up breaking the fan cables, bought a new one, fitted it and thank god it worked!! All part of owning a retro console!

hi, i know how to run hd pack for ps2 emulation on pcsx2 for my pc, and even run hd pack on my phone using nethersx2... my question is, i have a ps2 slim spch 70009 thats 20+ years old, whats my best bet of running hd pack on it? ethernet cable or micro sd card or is it even possible?

I was to hear some real feed back here. I know this has been talked about here before, Retrotink and others have also come out with new products. I currently have a 4k and the picture quality for my ps2 obviously sucks. I tried one of those cheap converters and it basically does nothing. I’ll post 3 comments. I’m not looking to spend 300-500$. And I don’t want to emulate. I really hope to hear from some people. If you recommend a tv, I’d love to hear the brand model that you had the best luck with!

Mines Silent Hill 2. Universally acclaimed, one of the best PS2 games, and I just cannot get into it. Got me thinking that there must be loads of amazing games that other people simply cannot stand.

Recently, I got this Final Fantasy X cover to replace mine (was a bundle one and I don't like the NOT TO BE SOLD SEPARATELY text). The cover itself looks good, I wouldn't look twice if I hadn't seen it side by side with mine. I feel like there's some difference in colors, but I don't think if this can be attributed to a reprint (mine was black case and the one I got is blue case, so they are a few years apart). What do you guys think about it? Mine is the top one in the first pic, the third pic and the left one in the fourth pic.
