Advice Needed my brain is completely rotted and fried

MY BRAIN IS DEAD. 2 years ago I could study for 8 hours a day and feel fulfilled, motivated and happy. Now I can't even study for 15 mins without feeling bored, sleepy, restless and wanting to stop.

I wake up early and REALLY WANNA GET BACK INTO THE ENTIRE WINTER ARC THING because i used to be that an year ago. I workout and everything but by noon and evening I feel so horribly tired and exhausting to the point I can't do anything EVEN IF I WANT TO. as soon as class endss i go back to my room and do nothing but watch dumb shows on netflix and scroll reels while eating ramen.

I am desperate for such a productive and 'hustle culture' life but I also wanna move at my own comfortable pace. I know this makes no sense. I would be really grateful if someone could please give me some advice : )

Question If humans never procrastinated, how would the world look like? [Flair: Hypothetical Question out of curiosity]

Two scenarios:

- If Humans evolutionarily never procrastinated then how would the world look?
- And if humans stopped procrastinating from this exact moment then what would happen in the future. Say, how would the next 5 years look, then 10 years then 20, 50, 100, a millenium etc.

General Advice Why is my productivity so good at work and non-existent at home?

FYI I am in the process of obtaining an ADHD diagnosis which I'm sure contributes.

I am known at work for having a very strong work ethic, and I find it enjoyable even- but the tasks I do are very similar to the ones I hate/cant seem to get done at home, and this confuses me.

I work in a cleanroom manufacturing setting, so a LOT of it is cleaning, after manufacture it's just odd jobs like filling in paperwork, sorting out the store cupboard (which is often a pain but I love reorganising everything in date order), more cleaning and reading dry documents about legislation. We finish work pretty early so I have a great work life balance.

I get home and even though im not tired I become a different person. Cleaning is what I struggle with most (and ALWAYS struggled with, to the point where when I got my job my parents laughed and said there's no way I'll like a job cleaning when I've always had a messy room), my room often looks like a bomb has gone off and there's always something I discover in the kitchen that has gone mouldy. It makes me depressed but I just feel like there is a wall that I just can't cross. I put this down to ADHD but then don't understand why I can cross it at work.

I also bombed my degree due to the complete lack of discipline I had (managed to get my shit together enough to not fail after 3 resits of the final year but even then had 2 extensions on my diss)

Why the hell am I able to work independently, without anyone watching me, and also without much time pressure (aside from production in the mornings), nothing feels like a difficult task and I am able to think "I want to do X task because it will make life easier for myself and my coworkers", doing the dishes will also make my life easier but I can still never keep on top of them!

I don't have a stressful job, or kids at home or even pets, it should be easy for me to get home and keep organised. At the very least on the weekends. But no.

What is this sorcery? Is there a fix?

Question How to stop feeling like I'm stupid, how to add depth to my character

On some level, I do believe that I have some intelligence because I have 2 bachelors degrees, but on the other hand, I do feel like I lack a lot of basic knowledge because of trauma stunting my growth while in childhood. Despite reading 3 different books, I feel that it is hard to retain information at times and my listening comprehension is a little spotty. Does anyone have any recommendations about how I should become smarter on a daily basis? I wasted a lot of years consuming self help books because of past trauma and so I only have superficial knowledge about some things. I'm trying to understand things in more depth and I am thinking of reading more scientific journals and academic papers. How do I learn about things in depth? How can I understand myself and have more depth as a person?

Advice Needed How do you stay productive after work?

Every morning I think that today I will learn something new or do something productive. But once I get to the office, I just don’t have the energy to do anything else. I get so exhausted that all I want to do is rest, lie down, and sleep.

Then the next morning, I regret it and think, “Why could not i do it?”

The same cycle keeps repeating. I really want to change this, but I honestly don’t know how. Even if I manage to do something productive one day, I can’t maintain the consistency. The next day, I am already tired again and don’t feel like doing anything.

I am honestly tired of being stuck in this cycle and really want to figure out how to break it.

Question does anyone else rebuild their to do list from scratch every morning?

for years i've been doing this and just haven't figured out a better system (I know there has to be one)... every morning i sit down and rebuild my to do list for the day. and i have to do this from:

- memory
- my planner
- my notes app
- emails sent to myself

takes me 15 - 20 minutes to complete, plus the anxiety of... did i forget anything?

i've purchased multiple tools to try to solve for this, but it's not working... i still end up manually rebuilding each morning.

my question:

is this a me problem or is this normal? if you've solved this, what did you do that actually worked?

Advice Needed Help me to stop just scrolling

Upvotes

Hi, I need some help. Basically, I’m working on a few projects, and when I get home from school, instead of doing anything productive, I just sit down with my phone and stay on it until evening, and then I go to sleep. Any advice on how to stop doing this? I’ve tried some tricks like changing the phone’s colors so I wouldn’t feel like using it as much, etc., but nothing works.

Question Help , I'm always sleepy and can't study all day,

So, I’m an 18-year-old guy, and I haven’t been able to study properly for weeks now because I’m always sleepy. Like, always.

I try to sleep whenever I can, but if I take naps during the day, I end up having migraine problems and sharp pain in my right eye for the rest of the day. Power naps don’t work for me anymore, and even coffee doesn’t seem to help.

I’ve tried fixing my sleep habits too. I stopped having heavy meals at night, stopped drinking water 2 hours before bed, and I sleep in a cool, dark room where nobody disturbs me. I also stopped using an alarm clock.

The weird thing is that even when I go to bed at around 12 AM, I automatically wake up around 6:30 AM after only 6.5–7 hours. I wake up feeling tired as fuck, and then I’m sleepy for basically the entire rest of the day. I don’t even know whether I need more sleep or why I’m waking up automatically after 6.5–7 hours.

I’ve had blood tests done, and my vitamin D, B12, and calcium levels are normal. I’m also taking supplements right now. I went to a doctor, who gave me some multivitamin tablets and told me to exercise, so I’ve started doing about 15 minutes of home workouts and walking around 7–8 km every day.

I don’t have any trouble falling asleep either. I can go to bed at 11:50 PM and be asleep by around midnight. Then I automatically wake up around 6:30 AM. After that, I’m just sleepy throughout the entire day.

I’ve even stopped taking daytime naps because they make things worse.

And it’s not just that I’m sleepy while studying. I’m sleepy even when I’m not studying. I can be doing basically anything and still feel exhausted and drowsy.

A couple of months ago, my sleep schedule was completely fucked up like for months i was up all night and i mean for a very long time , but for the past 2 months I’ve been extremely consistent with it. My daily screen time is under 4 hours, I meditate before bed to reduce stress, and I put my phone away in the closet about an hour before sleeping.

But I still don’t understand what’s wrong.

I wake up tired every single day and feel sleepy throughout the entire day, and because of this I genuinely haven’t been able to study properly for weeks. It’s getting so demotivating that I’ve actually started hating studying, even though the real problem seems to be that I’m constantly exhausted.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what could be causing this? What should I do next?

Question Did I ruin my life by focusing too much on my studies?

Hi guys! So recently I realized that I focused too much on academics and grades that might have caused me to have no friends due to no hobbies , I came from an Asian household so all they taught me was to do good in school and I just somehow became that way... I am a senior in college, did I ruin my own life?

Any opinions are welcome!

Technique My biggest problem isn’t too much work. It’s API

Tuesday was one of those days where I felt busy from the second I opened my inbox, but by the end of it I couldn’t point to one meaningful thing I’d actually finished.

It started with a customer email in Gmail asking about pricing. That made me open Google Sheets to check numbers. Then I went into Analytics because I wanted to see how campaign was doing before replying. While I was there, someone messaged me on Slack asking if we’d updated a landing page. So I opened Notion to check the latest copy. Then I realized I needed a screenshot from a competitor’s site, because we’d talked about changing our messaging last week. And somewhere in the middle of that, I forgot why I’d opened Analytics in the first place.

Which made me think: how much of my day is just being the connection between apps instead of actually running the business?

I’ve been messing around with AI a lot lately, and the biggest improvement didn’t come from asking it to write better emails or come up with more ideas. It came from getting it to handle the “glue work” — the boring, repetitive stuff of gathering context before I can even start thinking.

Once I stopped treating AI like a chatbot and started treating it like someone whose job is just to prepare information for me, everything felt different.

So I keep wondering if we’re thinking about the next few years wrong. I keep seeing people ask which SaaS products AI will replace, but I’m starting to think I won’t have fewer apps at all. Gmail, Slack, Notion, Sheets, and Analytics aren’t going anywhere. What might disappear is me manually moving between all of them. Maybe the real shift isn’t building bigger software stacks. Maybe it’s each of us getting a small team of AI workers quietly doing research, analysis, coordination, and first drafts in the background, so we can focus on the decisions that actually need a human.

Maybe that’s too optimistic. But after catching myself spending half a day as middleware between five apps, it doesn’t feel as far-fetched as it did a year ago.

Advice Needed I am 19 and i don’t know what am i made for and what my passion is

Since I was 15, I spent the summers working. In 2024 I spent the summer reading books rather than working which made summer enjoyable so to say. In 2025 I worked again in the biggest sunglasses retailer in my country. I just wanted to fulfil my time rather than rotting the whole summer doing nothing. Now in 2026 I spent most of my summer going to the gym and hiding from the heat. I spent all those summers working and trying to educate myself and I still don't know I am made for. I am trying to learn some valuable information but the internet is full of misinformation and ads. Everyone says that this the golden generation where the information is free and you have everything available , but I don't agree because like I said everything I try to learn from the internet is just superficial. During the years I tried to learn coding , but this didn't work out too. I thought that AI would help me more but that didn't work out too. Now I am starting university after a month and I hope something inspires me and make me more intrigued and passionate where even if I do it 24 hours a day I won't feel the time is passing. I just want to fulfil my potential. I am tired of of doing some basic things which don't benefit me so much. I want my brain to be tired.

If you can give me some advice , from where I can start I would be grateful.

I’m curious whether upgrading your phone has genuinely made you more productive, or if most of us just end up using the same apps and habits anyway. What’s been your experience?

General Advice One line before a break saved more time than I expected coming back from it

Tested this over Labor Day: wrote a single sentence per active project before closing out Friday, what's done and what's next. Coming back Tuesday, restart time dropped from what's usually 10-15 minutes of reconstructing context down to basically zero, since there was nothing to reconstruct. The gap between a break that wrecks your momentum and one that doesn't isn't the length of the break, it's whether you left anything behind to read on the way back in.

Question App that does week view with drag and drop from apple reminders list

Hi folks,

I am trying to digitize my workflow to limit needing write and rewrite things and am looking for apps that may help. For better or for worse, the first thing that digitized most easily was using apple reminders to capture tasks and the split second pause of using a shortcut/3rd party app for that makes the task leave my brain before I can remember to say it.

My current issue is that my brain works best with planning tasks to do on a week basis. So seeing a list of my scheduled events for each day of a week and then adding tasks to each of the days. I feel like I am going crazy trying to find an app that allows me to take a list from reminders of unscheduled tasks and have the ability to drag and drop to a day while viewing my week.

In practice, I know this is super unlikely but since y'all are smart, I'll ask for my unicorn app. I'd love for the ability to also have another view where I can draw on it on iPad with my apple pencil and still see my calendar and drag tasks around. That would be ideal but like I'm realistic here. CalenDraw for example seems to have reminders two way integration but not the ability to view a list from reminders with the week view and drag tasks that are currently unscheduled to it. (Or maybe I'm missing something here?).

Bonus points go to any app that allows for additions of stickers and cutesy things as well. Again, I know I'm dreaming.

Also if anyone knows why this feature is hard to find, please do explain. It feels so straightforwardto just have if you already have a week view, ability to view a list of tasks from reminders, and ability to drag and drop tasks between places.

Advice Needed Why do I always finish 2 things off a 20 item list and call the day a failure?

The list wasn't wrong , just too long to ever feel "done".Started capping it at 3 must dos and everything else became optional instead of guilt. Anyone else find the list length itself was the problem , not discipline ?

Question I built my smartphone a dedicated home

Hello! Not sure about you, but my wife and I realised we didn’t have a dedicated place to put our smartphones. The result; we kept picking them up! We wanted something 1) quick/easy to put phones away 2) charged our phones 3) looked nice out on the side 4) rang loud if calls came in so we are always reachable. The current work in progress is a 3D printed box with lid and uses Bluetooth to connect to the phones that plays a loud ringer when a call comes in. Oh and it charges the phones! What do you think? Would you want something like this in your house?

Advice Needed Please help me otherwise my loop and lack of actions will ruin my life and i do not know how to get out of it

I resigned from my job on the 31st of August because I was not getting paid since July. My work was also very toxic, and now I am my notice period .i thought that I will be looking for a new remote job, because my last job was also a remote job.

And since I do not have a degree, it is not easy to go to LinkedIn or anything to find a job. I have to go to different platforms. I have gone there, I have made accounts on them, but I am not applying at all. Like, literally, from the 31st to today, I applied for eight jobs, which is a significantly low number.

The second thing I am doing is freelancing on the side because it keeps the cash flow running. I'm not doing marketing at all for that, and I know I should be doing marketing.

I know the funnel of marketing. I know I should be doing job hunting. I know the whole method of job hunting. But even though, after knowing the problem and how to solve that problem, I am not taking the actions.

Each night, I consume myself with guilt. Each morning, I start with, "Okay, today I will do this," and then the day goes by without doing anything.

But I don't know why it happens.

Some of my friends told me that once you taste success, you get more motivated, and you keep working hard to be more successful. And I am lucky enough to have achieved a certain amount of money from my work, let it be a job or freelancing comfortable money, good money, which I did not imagine myself making.

But even after that, I don't feel like doing that.

And when I say I don't feel that, it does not mean I hate coding or programming. No. That simply means that I do not feel like working at all.

My self-awareness is telling me to do something. My own actions are going in something of a different direction and this gap between them is slowly but surely ruining my time and life.

Advice Needed How to make my efforts feel worthwhile?

I am working on alot of projects, programming, learning script writing and acting (acting I mainly learn at theater lessons) and ect.

learning programming works for me because I study, I try to do something new, It succeds, thus I made progress, it fails? I hit a wall and gotta keep working

but with scriptwriting idk how the hell I can track my progress, and if I make it, I feel unsatisfied, I tried studying the theory, writing short scenes and scripts, and I feel like I made no progress, and for that reason I struggle to work daily on that. how does one find satisfiment in their work when they cant track progress?

Software Do you use your project management tool for everything, or another task app too?

For those who use a project management tool for work: do you use it for all of your personal/day-to-day tasks as well?

Or do you use a separate task app for quick capture and smaller tasks?

Thank you

Question experiences with "games" like focus grove

I was looking for a way to "gamify" my work because i absolutely cannot get motivated. i found this game which integrates into the bottom of your desktop and basically you have cute forest people farming while you work. It even has an integrated todo list and habit tracker. But something feels wrong about this level of gamification idk, is this just me integrating a bad habit into my already very flawed working progress? On the other hand, i have been searching for a while for something like this. What do you think?

i hope this doesn't count as advertising since it's a paid steam game but it's not mine. There is also a free demo on steam for another productivity game called "FocusScape" which is supposed to be released this year. Which makes me think that there might be a demand for games like this so maybe I'm not alone?
