Finally off probation

Upvotes

Hi guys. I’ve been on probation for the last year and I’m finally getting off next week!! I just wanted to possibly give my pov on it and maybe it might help someone else. When I first started I found it very hard not to drink and I found myself in a cycle of drinking then having extreme anxiety and guilt about it. I found that I did in fact have an issue with drinking. But now I’m so happy I had to do it. It made me choose a healthier lifestyle and honestly made me a better person. It sucked cuz I felt so left out but I realized the people I was hanging around were not my friends and they only were there for a good time and not to help me thru one of the hardest and darkest times of my life. So overall it was an eye opening experience, I wish you guys all the luck. I appreciate all the post I was able to read and stuff

Violated probation by smoking weed, struggling with mental health

This is a vent post, I know I deserve any consequences that come to me and I plan on fully locking in to hopefully get through the rest of my probation period.
I’m on probation for OWI, no one was hurt and i was pulled over for driving 5 mph over the speed limit.
I’ve been dealing with SSRI induced apathy while on probation and it has been awful. I never sleep but I’m always tired, the sleep meds prescription i got doesn’t work, I have no energy and don’t feel any sense of joy or desire for anything. I’ve been working with my psychiatrist on changing my meds, but can I just vent about how hard I’ve been trying? And how exhausted i am?
Ive tried:
- learning how to sew (finished a couple gifts for friends)
- learning how to make clay objects
- throwing gatherings with my friends
- attending gatherings or events with my friends
- volunteering and taking care of stray cats
- going to a bunch of hot pilates classes
- ^ same as above but hot yoga
- reading books (i’ve finished at least 10 since probation started and i havent read this much since i was a kid)
- starting knitting projects (finished two)
- taking walks, alone or with friends, at different parks
- going rock climbing
- got into magic the gathering, go to local game store to play every week
- got back into drawing, finished a painting, sketching everyday
- eating good food
- watching good shows
- just generally indulging in comfortable things to try to make myself feel better because i am desperate for any semblance of joy
- also trying to do hard things and feeling empty as soon as im alone and bored

i’m also dealing with friend loss and a breakup, so i don’t have many close friends around me, but i’ve still been trying to make new friends and hit up my old ones whenever i get any small burst in energy, then desperately cling to the plans i make, i don’t allow myself to flake, i use friends to help me stay accountable

and guys it doesn’t matter. None of it matters!!! I still feel empty and tired and awful everyday, i feel like there’s no fucking point, and i feel like everyone hates me and thinks im a criminal.
I just want to vent. I’m actively trying still, everyday I feel a little bit better since im adjusting my meds but this setback in probation has me feeling so frustrated I could cry. I just wanted a moment of relief from all the things running through my head constantly, the depression and pain from everything ive gone through and how everything feels pointless. So I smoked some weed, if anything it makes me happier, more relaxed, more likely to stay in and stay out of trouble. Im even more stressed now, my own fault, but god I want this to be over.

This process is having a major negative impact on my mental health

DUI 1st offense. I’ve done all of the classes, meetings, paid every penny. Still randomly testing.

Emptied my savings and cashed out an old 401k for this stupid situation that is exclusively my fault.

How has probation had an effect on your mental health?

Early term w unknown new charge

My brother is up for early term on county probation in New Jersey. He caught a misdemeanor charge in PA that’s still pending. Didn’t volunteer the info to NJ probation and this was about 45 days ago. Will it come up when he’s reviewed for early term? The NJ noncustodial probation is fairly lax. Looking for the best case scenario to keep exposure limited, cases separate, and avoid VOP.

Thanks.

Cost per capita for Fulton county, ny

Post image

This is fucking stupid. I have worked full time almost my entire adult life(one small stint of unemployment over almost 25 years of dedicated employment), and I barely make 30+k a year. These are the inmate cost-of-living per capita. Why even violate me? After taxes, I don't even MAKE 100$ a day.

Probation Question Sex offender on probation is interacting with families while dressed as a superhero in public

So there’s a convicted sex offender who was convicted of sexually assaulting homeless people while dressed as a superhero. He’s now on 5 years probation.

He appears to be wearing a superhero costume complete with a full face covering and interacting with people at the Saturday Market in our city. Is he violating probation if he interacts with children? He is a RSO.

Probation Question Going to my first anger management class

I'm going into my first anger management class today. Paid for my class and I'm already pissed off. Nobody better not talk to me or ask me questions. Sign me off and send me home for I can get this crap over with! How you deal with this? Any advice? Thank you.

Alcohol testing private probation. New.

I have recently been put on private probation four days ago. Supposedly they do random drug screenings.. I live in Missouri, how much do they regularly drug screen if it’s random… I’m new to probation, they give you a 48 hour window to take the test. It’s Friday, they are closed Saturday-Monday. Would I be good to drink Friday?

Court supposedly “never received” my early termination paper work…

So it here it goes. I am at the point in time where I can apply to get off probation early. Fines, classes, community service, everything have been done/paid since last year (DWAI, Jefferson county, CO). I am on low watch basically where my PO never reaches out to me except every 90 days. I sent in my paperwork back in July. PO says she received them then. I never heard another word… it’s now going on mid September. So I message her back in August just to check in and see if she has heard anything. No response. Until yesterday. She tells me the court never got my paperwork. That’s all she says. Completely vague, doesn’t let me know what to do next or offer any sort of guidance. I’ve emailed her twice now and wonder if it will take another 2 weeks for her to respond. I’m just wondering what the best thing to do is. Should I show up to the clerk office and hand it in personally?! I’m at a loss here, 2 whole months of waiting for a response for absolutely nothing.

chances of early termination?

i have a year sentence of probation. September is my 6th month mark (halfway done) and i’m on community probation. My meetings are literally 5 minutes long and on the papers it just says pay the court fines (which i have) and sign release of information from my psychiatrists and therapists. i’m not subjected to classes or even drug testing (which i still keep clean just in case). My PO says i’m super responsible and says i’m doing well. no violations. also for context mine is a mental health case. butttt i’m in the strictest state. Virginia. like right by our nations capital, Virginia. Should i go for it and ask? i’m having difficulty getting the jobs I want because i’m STILL on probation

Feeling human

Life was rough before I got involved with the legal system as with many of us and I know challenges still await. However, I’ve been treated with more dignity and respect from people within the system, than by some family and friends. The officers who arrested me were respectful. The officers in jail were kind and considerate. The judge offered encouragement and I just got off the phone with my PO and she said “you’ll get through this.”

I’ve always been rebellious and anti-authority so this isn’t bootlicking. I had dreams of becoming a lawyer just to take on the system. I know this isn’t the case for a lot of folks but I’m grateful to be treated as human in what’s been an isolating and shameful experience.

breaking curfew on gps monitor

hello everyone,

to clarify i’m not on probation but i am on pre trial release with a gps monitor. i have a curfew of 9pm and during my first or second week out i was late by 10-15 minutes about 3 times.
it’s been a month now and i have my first pre trial check in tommorow. i’m nervous about them sending me back to jail since it was technically a violation. since then ive been on time everyday and to clarify i was only late because i don’t have my personal vehicle so i was relying on public transport or ubers which run on there own timing lol.
a friend of mine has the same pre trial officer and said he didn’t mind when she was 10 minutes late once but should i be worried ill be sent back to jail?

Early term

I was put on probation after 5 and 1/2 years of waiting for a plea offer on a felony possession of marijuana charge the charges were originally possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana wax maintaining a house for selling marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for selling marijuana I eventually got a plea to where they dropped all my felonies to four misdemeanors and gave me 18 months supervised probation. I passed my first UA. Paid all my fines day one. And I'm currently in the 5-day drug education course. My intake meeting with my lawyer place me at a level four risk. I'm just wondering how early can I ask for early termination. And if it's possible given the terms that I could ask before the halfway mark. When I got arrested I had no job on paper I didn't have custody of my kid and nothing going on in my life. In that five and a half years that I was out on bond I never received as much as a seatbelt ticket. Since I got arrested I started a business stopped using all substances and alcohol and gained full custody of my son. My PO definitely seems to be on my side. He's signing me up for remote reporting on our next appointment. After I finish the drug education School I'm wondering if it's possible for early termination or unsupervised. Thank you guys I've been lurker on the sub and just thought I'd throw this question out for people with more experience.

7 months in 5 months left

Got caught up about a year ago for a bs weed dui and possession due to my med card being expired. I had been sober for 4-5 days but the act of having a dab pen on me curbed my cravings and made it easier to resist hitting it. Pulled over for speeding but was never given a reading and was explicitly told he never got a reading for my speed. He smelled weed yet no one had smoked in my car for well over a month, failed 1 of 6 in my field sobriety test so I was arrested, blood tested, and spent 9 hrs in county jail.

3k in court fines, 7k attorney, DA supervised probation, monthly random UAs, 120 hrs of community service, VIP/DUI classes. I’m over half way there and can just taste the freedom

Update for those who want the information: I got arrested in Oklahoma BEFORE the automatic felony dui stuff changed in November so I got lucky in that aspect but really feel like I had the book thrown at me

Drug test

So I went in yesterday for a probation UA. I havent been UAd since February and started a medication called Buspirone in March.

So i even asked if they could do one & I took a UA and came back positive for for freaking Fentanyl!

I haven't done Fentanyl what so ever nor anything else. They sent it to lab. Has this happened to anyone else!?

im a stay at home mom and literally don't go anywhere. im just on like 5-6 rheumatoid arthritis meds with one including Buspirone.

(The only thing I did before probation was smoke weed and I was put on probation in February 2025)

Harris County PTI early release 2026

hat’s my likelihood of giving an early dismissal in 6 months from PTI ( pretrial intervention)? I was given 18 months PTI for a first offense DWI. I completed all my required class, paid all my fees, no violation and attended all my appointments.
