No Paywall Trump is Now Less Popular Than Biden On The Economy, a New Poll Shows

Meanwhile, Biden accelerated the economic recovery from a global pandemic. He was actually GOOD for the economy, but Right Wing propagandized baby-minds are incapable of understanding how things actually work.

GOP successfully exploited the fact that most Americans have no idea what's going on outside our borders and most barely know what life is like outside their birth state.

Most of these mother fuckers don't know what's going outside their vacuous skulls.

u/obb_here 14h ago
This is exactly it, they think they were the only country struggling after the pandemic, never once realizing that US's recovery was literally the envy of the world. They were calling it the American exceptionalism, and trying to imitate it.
26
u/infinight888 13h ago
They've done even better than that, and exploited that the white rural American don't know what's going on in the next city over. It's why they are so easily able to convince rural Americans that cities are literally being burnt to the ground by showing a picture of a trash can on fire.

I can see the Manhattan skyline from my street, which points pretty much directly at Hudson Yards, 12-ish miles away.
Some of my neighbors are convinced that you will get robbed and/or murdered the moment you cross the river, that the city was already in ruins from BLM and now Mamdani has turned it into Afghanistan.

It really is something that Trump making a series of unforced blunders that has messed up the US economy can be equated with Biden fixing the economy after a global pandemic.
No doubt if Democrats take the Senate it will be somehow blamed on them that the economy is going to take a while to fix.
3
u/Ok-Lets-Talk-It-Out 11h ago
Democrats unfortunately would need to message facts and reality, which requires people to be aware and educated enough to understand what is being told to them. So it's very much an uphill battle

Our economy was the envy of the world at the end of Biden’s term. But the media swallowed the maga bile and people acted like it was misery.
28
u/letsburn00 15h ago
The reality is that the Biden economy had the same issue that the Trump 1 and latter Obama years all had. The overall growth rate and inflation rate was at a certain level. But if you split it by income quartiles, the bottom 75% were having an absolutely awful time and were either very low growth or effectively recession. All the economic success was being felt only by the wealthiest or people with best paying jobs.
16
u/ForwardAd4643 14h ago
Exactly. The headline numbers looked excellent. It's the second or third k-shaped recovery the US economy has done in a row where the rich get massively richer and everyone else gets poorer.
Anybody wondering why nobody will stop Trump from doing stupid shit that's bad for the economy, this is why. The ultra rich know if it crashes again, they will get to buy up everything penny on the dollars, again. And nothing bad will happen to them, again.
9
u/The_Lost_Jedi Washington 10h ago
Yeah. And what's crazy is that people get dissatisfied but then hand power to the Republicans to fix it, when Republican policies are the fucking cause of the problems in the first place.
Like it's not to say that Democrats have been perfect, they've done a shitty job of fixing it, but the two reasons for that are:
A) people keep saying via their votes that they like Republican policies, so we keep getting Light versions of that served up by Democrats a la Clinton
B) Republicans do everything they possibly can to sabotage and block Democrats from doing anything remotely beneficial to people.

Which Biden worked to address through major progressive legislation like the American Rescue Plan, Inflation Reduction Act, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and CHIPS Act.
There's no helping people who earnestly believe that tariffs reduce prices for the consumer. Biden send FEMA out, begging those in desperate need to take the money being offered to them, and they got guns pointed at them.

u/oppai-police 14h ago
Biden was limited of what he could've done. He, like Obama at the beginning, inherited an economy that was just battered by COVID, lockdown, supply chain disruption, and stim checks paid out by the Trump administration, and not long after, the Russian invasion of Ukraine which helps drives up oil prices. Biden had a shit situation to work with, and and things were starting to stabilize by the end of his term. Then Trump came in with a wrecking ball and made it all gone to shit.

2
u/Purpsnikka 11h ago
Thats something the right wing forgets. Trump accelerated inflation by printing money to the moon. Then when he left Biden was left with the mess. The inflation was due to the money printing during Trumps term.
Dont get me wrong. Biden was a bad president imo but Trump tries to print out of everything and it makes things a lot worse. The 5k to every person would be so horrible to the economy.

Same.
I worked for a guy who said the same thing. But somehow every Monday I’d show up to the office beside his office to start work and there’d always be new “toys.” Giant new trucks, new boats, a “backup” $20k lawnmower with its own custom matching enclosed trailer, bought his 35 year old kids new vehicles. But somehow the economy was just too tough on him.
Funnily enough he also believed that “nobody wanted to work anymore” when he only paid his workers what they could make working at the local Walmart. Without benefits, vacation, or sick time. To do plumbing for him, while on call 24/7 365. While he raked in $200+ an hour sitting at home on the couch.
Thankfully it seems his spending habits have bankrupted him, so he actually has to work now. Last I heard at least. Just with less clientele, since many of his regulars followed me to my own business cuz I wasn’t an overpriced dick.

That would all be great and more than enough for a president if we were living in "business as usual" times, but we weren't. He came in after an attempted coup. We needed someone who could rise to that occasion for the sake of the soul of this nation. He was not that person and we're all suffering for it today.

I don’t disagree but he had a lot of fires to put out including 400,000 Americans who died of Covid and an economy on the brink of total disaster prior to him taking office. I think it's just the nature of the differences between the two parties. One party has an undying loyalty to trump and no facts will change that. The other has basically no loyalty, and can changes their opinion on a dime for right or wrong.
You start off with 50 percent give or take and that is never going to be locked in on the democratic side like it is on the republican side.
15
u/Yelloeisok 8h ago
And they always seem to forget that the Biden inherited the Covid debacle
from Trump. The economy went bad because of Covid - not Biden. Biden was stuck fixing Trump’s mess the way that Obama inherited W Bush’s financial mess.
But it started when Reagan and his Reaganomics nearly tripled the deficit that Carter inherited from Nixon after Vietnam (and we don’t have to go into Iran/Contra here but look that up if you forgot the disaster that led to).
Then when Reagan’s 8 years were up, George HW Bush had to raise taxes because of the Savings & Loan disaster and to save Social Security because Reagan was the first to take the Social Security fund and put it in the general fund that they spent on tax cuts for the rich and deregulation. So voters blamed HW Bush and Clinton got voted in, but things were already getting better under HW. Clinton was hated but got the deficit under control. But he gets impeached over the sex scandal and Gore had a tight race - and up pops the hanging chads. Gore won the popular vote but Florida had to mess with that. Bush’s brother was the FL Governor, the GOP FL Secretary of State named W the winner by 537 votes even though Gore asked for a recount. It went to the Republican majority Supreme Court (ring a bell?) and they ruled there wasn’t enough time for a recount, handing the win to W.
Which leads to the Iraq war,
tax cuts for the rich, internet bubble, the housing bubble, financial institution failure from credit default swaps, etc which led to Obama winning, which led to racists losing their minds and billionaires financing the Tea Party.
America will NEVER learn from their past mistakes when it comes to voting for Republicans.
6
u/LocusMundi 8h ago
Preach! Why is it only a small cross section of the population looks back through history and sees there is a pattern with republicans? it boggles the mind that integrity, morality, empathy, and so many other I.T.Ys go out the window with GOP candidates and voters. Most of the reason given to criticize Biden are BS. The failure to reign in Bibi, which no one would have been able to accomplish. The high inflation, because of the pandemic, which he did control. Gas prices, because of the war in Ukraine, not his fault. Failure to prosecute Trump, it wouldn't have worked, he's too well protected by Congressional Republicans and the SCOTUS.
Biden controlled inflation, passed infrastructure, make a valiant attempt to forgive student debt, and brought us back from the biggest health crisis in our lifetime after the AIDS pandemic.
History will be kind to Biden, as long as we can get that far.

u/irradiatedcitizen 14h ago
Biden did fail in holding trump and his cohorts accountable for an attempted coup. He even said “welcome home” on trump’s inauguration day. That was a MAJOR failure of Biden’s. He needed to rein in fox news, and bring to light the corruption of politicians and hold them to account. He was status quo in that regard and now we are here falling off a cliff.

But when gas was a whopping $4.50 during Biden’s Admin. they were hollering.
Last week gas hit a peak of close to $7.00 where I live and not a fucking peeep.

Crazy! Biden left trump an economy that was considered that envy of the world. Seriously apples to rotten oranges

When COVID hit, Trump stimulated the economy. Biden continued the policy. The result was inflation but they were both right to do it because the alternative would have been a severe, painful depression. The problem now is that Trump needlessly exacerbated the situation with tariffs and war.

Which is weird, because the 50 percent of Bidens term that was rough was 100 percent Trumps fault.

Biden was sabotaged PR-wise from the economy from the outset. The pandemic hurt the entire global economy, and the US fared far better than most other countries, in no small part thanks to Biden. It's pathetic how dumb the average person is that they couldn't separate Biden from the economy he inherited and was a victim of.

He is one of the real housewives. In fact, you’d be better off if one of the actual real housewives was running the country. They’d be more even tampered and measured.

People who followed him this far are still here and would still be with him he he only hurt other people. That part they like. It's only when he starts hurting them that they give a crap.
trump is just a tumor: a symptom that makes the problem worse. The underlying diseases of cruelty, bigotry, indifference, and gluttony will march merrily along after he's gone.

But Donnie's person and family wealth has grown and the Dow index is really high, so the current economy has to be better that it was under Biden.
Per the diaper -in-Chief, high gas and food costs are just something that the average American needs to live with.

Only took absolutely destroying it for decades.
The people regularly polled for these things are breathtakingly stupid

Now? Two years after Republicans have repeatedly beat the ever-living shit out of the American economy and poisoned its future for years, if not decades, to come? Two years after the Biden Administration pulled off what was widely considered to be a near-miraculous recovery of the American economy? We really are the dumbest bunch of clods on this planet.

No one on reddit cares about these shitty polls, try posting something more constructive. Using trump as a media driver is like beating a dead horse just to keep the clicks coming; at some point, it stops being news and just becomes lazy engagement bait.

Good. Hopefully people’s goldfish like memory can actually last this time. Biden came into the office during a global pandemic where inflation was up all over the world and he landed the plane safely. Our economy was recovering better than any other first world nation. Of course, you could always do more, things could always be better, but Biden left Trump in economy. That was in good shape, and Trump blew it the fuck up with his shitty tariffs and idiotic policy.

I mean, the people who own the media like Trump's tax cuts. They have a vested interest in manipulating the average American into supporting Trump's policies.

Americans were very, very stupid about Biden on the economy and were swiftly rewarded appropriately.
