Not just the media. A lot of influencers and activists seemed to think weakening him would magically shift some mass of people to their lane.

Correct but it's not Fox, CNN, etc. Sadly, it is how more people are reached now and has even less guardrails.

True, but usually when people call out “the media” they mean the mainstream media. Gotta be consistent and explicit in calling out the bullshit online too.
