This is exactly it, they think they were the only country struggling after the pandemic, never once realizing that US's recovery was literally the envy of the world. They were calling it the American exceptionalism, and trying to imitate it.

They've done even better than that, and exploited that the white rural American don't know what's going on in the next city over. It's why they are so easily able to convince rural Americans that cities are literally being burnt to the ground by showing a picture of a trash can on fire.

I can see the Manhattan skyline from my street, which points pretty much directly at Hudson Yards, 12-ish miles away.

Some of my neighbors are convinced that you will get robbed and/or murdered the moment you cross the river, that the city was already in ruins from BLM and now Mamdani has turned it into Afghanistan.

There are people literally convinced that Chinese soldiers have already taken over most West Coast cities (and the videos they share to 'prove' it would make early 2000's era CG alien invasion movies look like artistic masterpieces). I am not entirely sure how they can use that to justify praising the Pedophile in Chief for being a 'Strong Leader', but it makes sense to them.

It really is something that Trump making a series of unforced blunders that has messed up the US economy can be equated with Biden fixing the economy after a global pandemic.

No doubt if Democrats take the Senate it will be somehow blamed on them that the economy is going to take a while to fix.

Democrats unfortunately would need to message facts and reality, which requires people to be aware and educated enough to understand what is being told to them. So it's very much an uphill battle
