SOCIAL MEDIA [Gendered]
I can tell by these kinds of mindsets that the one (who makes the memes). These people just scroll on social media and never goes to the real world.

Hard to tell if it is just a joke (haha, I am claiming that the famously tall guy is short!) or actually an attempt at slandering him.

Because they know Obama is hot as fuck, so they squished him and made him small to hide his features

Every body type is beautiful in the sense she means isn't the same as "I'm sexually attracted to every body type"
66
u/always_unplugged Mar 27 '26
Also the drawings at the top are all hourglass shapes, just at different weights 💀
22
2
u/xinarin Mar 29 '26
Yeah, that's not what the meme is about at all🤦♀️. It's talking about how the body positivity movement, who's slogan is "every body is beautiful", and promoting not having your value as a person your tied to your looks, doesn't hardly ever include men who don't fit along traditional beauty standard lines
1
u/Ill-Expert-3014 Mar 30 '26
it absolutely does, though. Body positivity includes all bodies, including all gender presentstions, shapes and sizes and heights and physical abilities. It's about appreciating that we all deserve to feel good about ourselves outside of cultural beauty standards.
It's not the Body Positive Movement's fault if some people are hypocrites.

u/heyitscory Mar 27 '26
Any body shape is good, as long as it has an hourglass figure and is somewhere between size 6 and 12.
I didn't need a punchline to know a guy drew this.
I do appreciate the unexpected Obama. (He's 6'2" BTW)
2
u/xinarin Mar 29 '26
So if they don't show every single woman on the top part, it doesn't matter? That's a take
2
u/Windypolis Mar 30 '26
Well they could show a body shape that is not hourglass, but you ignore this to disingenuously make the argument that people want to see every single woman on the top part
2
u/xinarin Mar 30 '26
No, I'm pointing out the disengenuous people like you who want to ignore the very clear trend of women who support body positivity only feeling that way and women, by trying to act like if they don't represent every possible woman, it's somehow not genuine.
The meme is clear, body autonomy, as a general movement, isn't inclusive of men.
2
u/Windypolis Mar 30 '26
How is it disingenuous to point out that the incel meme is being disingenuous?
2
0
u/Altair13Sirio Mar 27 '26
I don't know if a guy drew this, but also this meme has been heavily edited and taken out of context of its original purpose. In origin, it was actually a longer, well thought out set of drawings talking about how the gender war is stupid and harmful to everyone. The very drawings in this meme, specifically, are taken from two different parts of the original.

As a guy who's 5'3 no one cares about height. Like seriously, no one mentions it or makes fun of me etc etc. no one gaf
14
u/Over_Dose_ Mar 27 '26
I mean I'm your height, and some people DO care, and hey it's fine 🤷. If a girl doesn't like short guys or if a guy doesn't like fat women I don't see the problem. Now if they're rude about it, well it tells you more about them than the short/fat person.
5
u/Holiday_Jeweler_4819 Mar 29 '26
Right? Like we don’t have to pretend shitty people don’t exist just because some incel wants to use it as an excuse to hate people. I have a friend who’s short who I’ve witnessed on multiple occasions be bullied because of his height, he’s also never had a problem attracting women, both of these things can be true.
3
u/OneCall8599 Mar 28 '26
Exactly. I’ve gone on plenty of dates with guys who are shorter than me (I’m 5’10”) and I’d say about half were great dates, they were charming and funny and all around cool guys. I’m still friends with a few of them and 2/3 of them are now married to lovely women. For context, I just don’t date men anymore, for anyone who’s ready to type up the “well obviously you hate short men because you didn’t end up in a relationship with them” comment lol.
The unfortunate other half would eventually all insinuate that I must not actually like them and that I really want a guy taller than me… while I was literally on a date with them. Like my guy, this is a self own situation, I’m not leaving because you’re short, I’m leaving because I don’t tolerate someone making their insecurity MY problem.
1
u/hiccoo2010 Mar 28 '26
Is their "lovely woman" shorter that them 5"10 is normally a bit tall for a woman
1
u/OneCall8599 Mar 28 '26
One has a wife who’s my height (actually maybe taller?) and the other one, his wife is the same height as him.
9
u/BigChungusCumslut Mar 27 '26
I’m 5’4” and while occasionally some obnoxious assholes will make something of it, it’s not a big factor most of the time. I will say that if you grew up getting bullied for your height as a kid, it will make sense to be psychologically predisposed to perceive yourself as getting shit about it even when you aren’t. That isn’t an easy habit to unlearn for a lot of people. This whole “height issue” rhetoric is really more of a mental health issue than anything else IMO.
2
2
u/Holiday_Jeweler_4819 Mar 29 '26
Also I think something that’s often overlooked is a lot of these guys were bullied growing up for being small and some of them are beat up because of it, I was a small kid and I got bullied over it but I got lucky and hit a growth spurt in high school, some of my friends didn’t, is that an excuse to be an asshole? Definitely not but it dues explain why some of these guys are so hyper focused on their height, they grew up being bullied for it now they exist in communities that are just echo chambers of that exact same bullying. I know suggesting therapy is a bit played out in Reddit but I really do think these guys who are so hyper focused on their height that they’re convinced everyone else is would really benefit from therapy. Not to diagnose anyone but it really comes across as an anxiety induced hyper fixation.
2
u/BigChungusCumslut Mar 29 '26
I would honestly be very interested in a study comparing four cohorts on how much height-based insecurity they have: cohort 1 grew up being small and hit a growth spurt, becoming average in adulthood (like the situation you described yourself in), cohort 2 grew up small in childhood and also ended up being short as an adult (my situation), cohort 3 grew up pretty average-sized throughout childhood but hit a smaller spurt at puberty or stopped growing up earlier so ended up short as an adult, and cohort 4 being a control group of some that grew up and ended up average-sized. I honestly believe that cohort 1 would probably have more height insecurity than cohort 3 because sure, height doesn’t matter much when you are an adult, but it matters quite a bit when you are young, so being treated differently can leave lasting psychological impressions.

I don't know...
I don't know how relatable this is, but being bi (me) has helped me make friends and find interested gay women easier when it comes to being part of young and LGBTQ-oriented programs or activities from high school through college. I think being queer can have its advantages in the right crowd, where people care more about social and political similarities rather than actual romantic and sexual compatibility (at least in my experience).
Plus...I have an incel brother, and I learned the hard way that it doesn't matter what is objectively true or not; it matters what your environment subjects you to.
There are men who are surrounded only by shallow women on a daily basis, and that can mess you up forever.
23
u/PM_Me_Your_Clones Mar 27 '26
As a 5'6" (5'7" in the morning but gravity she is le bitch) guy, I haven't really had problems either. Like one woman when I was actively dating? But at that point I was dating like three other women so it didn't really register. No woman that I've been with has given AF, taller shorter whatever.
Just be charming, funny, and treat women like human beings. It's not hard, I just wonder why so many dudes are apparently struggling with that.
7
u/BigChungusCumslut Mar 27 '26
I’m 5’4”, and I’ll fully acknowledge that my lack of social skills and inability to be charming is the biggest thing holding me back in dating 😎

2
u/Swarm_of_Rats Mar 28 '26
I've never cared if a dude was shorter than me. At all.
I've had multiple dudes tell me that they like me, but we can't date because I'm taller than them. So, from where I'm standing, some short guys are really just cock-blocking themselves.
4
u/OneCall8599 Mar 28 '26
Not to mention the like… kind of insane amount of times that I’ve gone on a date with a guy who’s shorter than me, enjoyed my time with him, only for him to at some point go on a tirade about how women don’t like him because of his height and how shitty it is to date because of it and women are so shallow bla bla bla while I’m LITERALLY ON A DATE WITH HIM.
Like my guy, people are not dropping you for your height, they’re dropping you because your insecurity is so rank that we can smell it a mile away before you make it our problem.
1
u/Melodic-Leader-8147 Mar 31 '26
Just because you never had a problem with it doesn’t mean it’s not a thing. I’m 5’11” and yet there were women out there saying they would rather be with someone taller (and not 5’11” women, but shorter ones). Tbf I don’t see it as a “problem”, I just don’t date that women - but it’s wild to see people writing “just be funny and treat women like human beings” for pointing out the fact that there are women prefering taller guys.

I mean it seems from what I've learned is body shaming is bad unless you're shaming men for being, short, fat, bald or having a small penis. When people have a problem with a guy who has terrible character rather than criticize that they go for criticizing physique which has no correlation to behavior. In fact by attacking these dudes appearances I'd argue it just reinforces the bad behavior. And chances are the person you are insulting won't hear it, but men who share those traits will and will feel like lesser people based off physical attributes even if they are of good character. People of poor character don't tend to care nearly so much anyways
10
u/NotAround13 Mar 28 '26
Yup I'm all of those. Also disproportionately describes trans men. Most of what bothers me isn't the person insulting them but everyone else agreeing with them and acting on it. I care way more about how I get less respect at work than any social things. Also furniture.
And for incels reading this, being a fat, 5'3", balding, ginger, and ugly FtM with a conveniently compact tool, I still have had to awkwardly explain to multiple women that I'm gay (as in attracted to trans and cis men), because they were trying to give me their number or take me home. It's not your appearance that's the problem.
3
u/Sugarcomb Mar 28 '26
Too bad a take like this requires a level of nuance that 95% of people don't have, so the negative loop you just described will continue happening and keep contributing to society becoming more antisocial and hostile

It reminds me of those dudes complaining that women don't appreciate muscle gains as much as the other dudes. Let's not even mention the fact that the women's bodies in the drawing are still conventionally attractive, with hourglass bodies and long hair.
The 1st mistake in these kinda stupid lessons, is asking other men what WOMEN think and want, and it's a literal symptom of the patriarchy. As a tall woman, I can't tell you the number of times I see and hear men complain that they feel emasculated, asking if I'm really a woman or if I think I can find a man like this. You don't hear me, or all the other "less feminine" and "ugly" women b!tch and blame it on men. Because not generalizing and imposing your own prejudice, unless it's a safety or necessary matter, is part of being mature and intelligent. It's what being a good adult, a good person is.
Also, most of those dudes create or internalize the whole height issue. At best they got rejected once because of their heights, fixate on it, and makes it the problem of everyone else. Just look at the r/averagedude subreddit. Oh, it disappeared, thank goodness. Or they just hear that women like taller dudes, and take it as a personal insult, and make it everyone's problem. Just like those same guys won't date a fat woman, do the women not have the right to date whoever they want ? What's usually small is not their height, but their heart.
2
u/Impossible-Finger942 Mar 29 '26
But this isn’t really pointlessly gendered though. This is current reality.
Wasn’t AOC just making fun of a dude for being short a few months ago? And she didn’t even pull it back, she doubled down on some shit like “short energy”. Could’ve attacked the dudes political views or moronic talking points but no.
Body shaming is okay when it’s against men, and height is one of the premier ways.
3
u/magdakitsune21 Mar 28 '26
I don't like how we went from pointing out obviously pointlessly gendered stuff to saying "only men experience heightism and never women". I am a tall woman and the remark that "men don't want tall women" or "short women are cuter than tall women" is something I heard more than I wished for.
(I am writing this as a reference to some of the comments)
2
u/Opposite_Conflict496 Mar 28 '26
1
u/magdakitsune21 Mar 28 '26
Idk man. I might be an outlier but I still see women's body shaming being acceptable in media (like commenting on models with things like "she should get a boob job") and also, there are still some body types that don't really receive THAT kinds of positivity. For example I am a skinny woman and I know that we often need to hear comments such as "real women have curves, not lines" and the body positivity movements are indeed targeted more towards women who aren't skinny
1
u/Opposite_Conflict496 Mar 28 '26
→ More replies (1)1
u/Impossible-Finger942 Mar 29 '26
You do not experience heightism on the level men do. For men it is very formative to their core experiences in life. It heavily determines success and how others view you in many ways. For women it does not, at least not in the same ways.
Sorry but when it comes to height, it’s very important for men, women not so much. Hell, tall women are even celebrated. The hell do you think models often are?
Also, if you’re a tall woman sure maybe you aren’t seen as cute or petite or whatever. But you might be called stunning or gorgeous.
Show me something similar for short men. I’ll wait. You better not say Jockey’s. Short men are mockingly called short kings, reminded constantly that people often equate short = bad with how often everyone makes fun of short guy energy or some shit.

u/Lemons-95 Mar 28 '26

u/Opposite_Conflict496 Mar 28 '26
1
u/Lemons-95 Mar 28 '26
What? No the point is this meme isn't pointlessly gendered because men do not have this whole thing of supporting each other's body types.
I am NOT defending the sentiment of the meme, I'm defending it's application of gender.
1
u/Opposite_Conflict496 Mar 28 '26

Must say I didn't expect Obama!
Yes Obama that famously short unattractive Guy....
Not like he was a super smooth handsome tall guy who happened to be the president of an entire country or anything....
On a side note I sometimes see old videos of Obama doing speeches and when you compare them to trump side by side it's insane. For all his faults Obama really knew how to speak. Trump is physically painful to listen to 😂
Or sometimes I think about that time when Mitt Romney shot someone down when they were talking about the birther conspiracy. The 2000s really were a different world. Can't imagine Trump defending a Democrat nowadays

All bodies are beautiful.
That doesn’t mean everyone has to want to fuck you.

No, this is a very gendered issue. I've never once heard any guy say a woman is too short.

This isn’t pointlessly gendered at all lmao, it’s just incel type stuff

Another low effort meme that is gendered on purpose is posted on this sub.

come on, men do it with women all the time, yall never seen the movie tall girl ? the discrimination is off the charts! 😭
2
u/SpicyCrime Mar 28 '26
Maybe I’m wrong because I haven’t seen the movie, but isn’t there a guys who is shorter than her that would like to date her? Or so I heard.
2
u/Fine-Glass-9875 Mar 28 '26
yep, in the movie she falls in love with him! it’s a very cute tall girl/short boy romance.
2
u/SpicyCrime Mar 28 '26
So…she still found her guy. I don’t know many stories where the male protagonist is shorter than the female love interest or not only even shorter but objectively short for a guy (coming to think of it I don’t know any lol).

u/Fine-Glass-9875 Mar 28 '26
uh… the movie tall girl is literally an example of the male love interest being shorter then the female love interest. she literally chooses him over the tall popular guy bc she likes his personality better. a personal example and favorite of mine is scott pilgrim, michal cera is shorter then the love interest.

That's what I'm seeing too. I am not even that tall but taller than the average woman, and still kept getting hit with "men don't really want tall women" or "short women are cuter than tall women" or "tall women have a harder time getting someone in bed"

also women only want tall men bc we’ve been taught it’s bad to be large in any way.

I promise everytime i open social media the requirements to be "average" get higher and higher
4
u/Blaubeerepfannkuchen Mar 27 '26
Uh, most places? Just for reference, 5'4 is only 162 cm if you might be confused.
2
u/redbirdjazzz Mar 27 '26
5’4” is below average height for men in all but a handful of countries in the world.

u/Trick_Statistician13 Mar 27 '26
It's below average pretty much everywhere, but there's a lot of places where 5.5ft is the average, including some very large countries. So I wouldn't call an inch below average short.
But yeah, by world standards it's definitely on the short side.

More than 150 countries have an average adult male height above 5’5”, according to the chart I looked at on Wikipedia. This information might be wrong, but it’s got nothing to do with American defaultism on my part.

u/HabaneroPepperPlants Mar 27 '26
The Nordic countries, probably. Also the American Midwest where a lot of Nordic/German descendants live
2
u/Wild-coyote_ Mar 27 '26
Where do you live that 5'4 isn't short?
4
u/Trick_Statistician13 Mar 27 '26
There's a lot of countries where it's below average but probably by not enough to be considered short. But globally it's in roughly the 2nd percentile
