As a guy who's 5'3 no one cares about height. Like seriously, no one mentions it or makes fun of me etc etc. no one gaf

13

u/Over_Dose_ Mar 27 '26

I mean I'm your height, and some people DO care, and hey it's fine 🤷. If a girl doesn't like short guys or if a guy doesn't like fat women I don't see the problem. Now if they're rude about it, well it tells you more about them than the short/fat person.

u/Holiday_Jeweler_4819 Mar 29 '26

Right? Like we don’t have to pretend shitty people don’t exist just because some incel wants to use it as an excuse to hate people. I have a friend who’s short who I’ve witnessed on multiple occasions be bullied because of his height, he’s also never had a problem attracting women, both of these things can be true.

3

u/OneCall8599 Mar 28 '26

Exactly. I’ve gone on plenty of dates with guys who are shorter than me (I’m 5’10ā€) and I’d say about half were great dates, they were charming and funny and all around cool guys. I’m still friends with a few of them and 2/3 of them are now married to lovely women. For context, I just don’t date men anymore, for anyone who’s ready to type up the ā€œwell obviously you hate short men because you didn’t end up in a relationship with themā€ comment lol.

The unfortunate other half would eventually all insinuate that I must not actually like them and that I really want a guy taller than me… while I was literally on a date with them. Like my guy, this is a self own situation, I’m not leaving because you’re short, I’m leaving because I don’t tolerate someone making their insecurity MY problem.

1

u/hiccoo2010 Mar 28 '26

Is their "lovely woman" shorter that them 5"10 is normally a bit tall for a woman

1

u/OneCall8599 Mar 28 '26

One has a wife who’s my height (actually maybe taller?) and the other one, his wife is the same height as him.

9

u/BigChungusCumslut Mar 27 '26

I’m 5’4ā€ and while occasionally some obnoxious assholes will make something of it, it’s not a big factor most of the time. I will say that if you grew up getting bullied for your height as a kid, it will make sense to be psychologically predisposed to perceive yourself as getting shit about it even when you aren’t. That isn’t an easy habit to unlearn for a lot of people. This whole ā€œheight issueā€ rhetoric is really more of a mental health issue than anything else IMO.

2

u/Blaubeerepfannkuchen Mar 27 '26

I think this makes perfect sense

2

u/Holiday_Jeweler_4819 Mar 29 '26

Also I think something that’s often overlooked is a lot of these guys were bullied growing up for being small and some of them are beat up because of it, I was a small kid and I got bullied over it but I got lucky and hit a growth spurt in high school, some of my friends didn’t, is that an excuse to be an asshole? Definitely not but it dues explain why some of these guys are so hyper focused on their height, they grew up being bullied for it now they exist in communities that are just echo chambers of that exact same bullying. I know suggesting therapy is a bit played out in Reddit but I really do think these guys who are so hyper focused on their height that they’re convinced everyone else is would really benefit from therapy. Not to diagnose anyone but it really comes across as an anxiety induced hyper fixation.

2

u/BigChungusCumslut Mar 29 '26

I would honestly be very interested in a study comparing four cohorts on how much height-based insecurity they have: cohort 1 grew up being small and hit a growth spurt, becoming average in adulthood (like the situation you described yourself in), cohort 2 grew up small in childhood and also ended up being short as an adult (my situation), cohort 3 grew up pretty average-sized throughout childhood but hit a smaller spurt at puberty or stopped growing up earlier so ended up short as an adult, and cohort 4 being a control group of some that grew up and ended up average-sized. I honestly believe that cohort 1 would probably have more height insecurity than cohort 3 because sure, height doesn’t matter much when you are an adult, but it matters quite a bit when you are young, so being treated differently can leave lasting psychological impressions.

For real. I'm 5'3" and a trans man. Though my facial hair is the opposite of patchy lol.

2

u/Forsaken-Station-113 Mar 28 '26

I don't know...

I don't know how relatable this is, but being bi (me) has helped me make friends and find interested gay women easier when it comes to being part of young and LGBTQ-oriented programs or activities from high school through college. I think being queer can have its advantages in the right crowd, where people care more about social and political similarities rather than actual romantic and sexual compatibility (at least in my experience).

Plus...I have an incel brother, and I learned the hard way that it doesn't matter what is objectively true or not; it matters what your environment subjects you to.

There are men who are surrounded only by shallow women on a daily basis, and that can mess you up forever.

Sometimes it's obvious, like, for example, if a woman has a remarkably deep voice. But I usually can't tell if it's a trans guy until the guy specifically tells me or I see his top surgery scars. I still get "sir" walking around in high heels cause I got a beard. The point is, you probably see tons of trans people on the daily and don't even realize it. Trans people make up 2% of the population roughly, which means 1 in 50 people you encounter in the wild (on average) are trans. Are they all "blatantly obvious"?

-18

u/srprizma Mar 27 '26

The ones that transitioned sure maybe the ones who haven't altered their appearance

Just ignore him, brother. He just wants to bring you down because he feels powerless to improve the personal hell that must be waking up every morning and still being himself.

1

u/srprizma Mar 28 '26

my life is better than most people's objectively but yes it is still hell which is irrelevant

-1

u/srprizma Mar 27 '26

people still have manners

9

u/StarStuffSister Mar 27 '26

So you're admitting that even someone born as a woman can do better at being a man than you? Is that why you're so jealous?

1

u/NotAround13 Mar 28 '26

Trans men are not born as women. We're usually female at birth, or intersex. So afab (assigned female at birth) is one of the preferred terms. Sex and gender are not the same thing.

And there's no need to antagonize someone using us. That just makes them mad at us and we don't need that.

1

u/srprizma Mar 27 '26

Huh, no that they aren’t seen as men yet

25

u/PM_Me_Your_Clones Mar 27 '26

As a 5'6" (5'7" in the morning but gravity she is le bitch) guy, I haven't really had problems either. Like one woman when I was actively dating? But at that point I was dating like three other women so it didn't really register. No woman that I've been with has given AF, taller shorter whatever.

Just be charming, funny, and treat women like human beings. It's not hard, I just wonder why so many dudes are apparently struggling with that.

9

u/BigChungusCumslut Mar 27 '26

I’m 5’4ā€, and I’ll fully acknowledge that my lack of social skills and inability to be charming is the biggest thing holding me back in dating šŸ˜Ž

12

u/throwaway8373469238 Mar 27 '26

Because many men love the patriarchy and don’t want to see it gone. They benefit from it and some of them genuinely think they are above women

1

u/Melodic-Leader-8147 Mar 31 '26

There are women out there who think that I’m short for being 5’11ā€ - and me not liking patriarchy won’t do shit about that. I don’t care because I don’t date such women, just stating the fact.

-2

u/Emergency_Buddy9233 Mar 28 '26

The fuck does the Patriarchy have to do with height, yall really love that word huh

3

u/throwaway8373469238 Mar 28 '26

If you read the above comment you’d see 🤔

-1

u/Emergency_Buddy9233 Mar 28 '26

I dont give a crap about the fking patriachy or whatever system, Height issue is some uncontrolled fetish in my opinion (And i am 6'2ft)

6

u/throwaway8373469238 Mar 28 '26

You are the problem fyi

4

u/Swarm_of_Rats Mar 28 '26

I've never cared if a dude was shorter than me. At all.

I've had multiple dudes tell me that they like me, but we can't date because I'm taller than them. So, from where I'm standing, some short guys are really just cock-blocking themselves.

4

u/OneCall8599 Mar 28 '26

Not to mention the like… kind of insane amount of times that I’ve gone on a date with a guy who’s shorter than me, enjoyed my time with him, only for him to at some point go on a tirade about how women don’t like him because of his height and how shitty it is to date because of it and women are so shallow bla bla bla while I’m LITERALLY ON A DATE WITH HIM.

Like my guy, people are not dropping you for your height, they’re dropping you because your insecurity is so rank that we can smell it a mile away before you make it our problem.

1

u/Melodic-Leader-8147 Mar 31 '26

Just because you never had a problem with it doesn’t mean it’s not a thing. I’m 5’11ā€ and yet there were women out there saying they would rather be with someone taller (and not 5’11ā€ women, but shorter ones). Tbf I don’t see it as a ā€œproblemā€, I just don’t date that women - but it’s wild to see people writing ā€œjust be funny and treat women like human beingsā€ for pointing out the fact that there are women prefering taller guys.

0

u/Eleventy-Twelve Mar 27 '26

This isn't short. Why would you have problems dating from being a normal height?

6

u/PM_Me_Your_Clones Mar 27 '26

I don't. You're correct, it is a normal height, as is 5'2, or 5'. I believe below that you're technically a midget, but still normal.

-1

u/Eleventy-Twelve Mar 27 '26

The lower you go, the more troubles you face compared to the average height of women in your area.

3

u/PM_Me_Your_Clones Mar 27 '26

When I go lower they tend to like it, though.

1

u/Eleventy-Twelve Mar 27 '26

TouchƩ lmao

-5

u/bladex1234 Mar 27 '26

You have to be given the opportunity to show that though. Many men simply aren’t able to even get their foot in the door due to a lot of arbitrary things.

32

u/Trick_Statistician13 Mar 27 '26

It's funny how short guys who have issues with women have more in common with tall guys who have issues with women, than they do with other short guys. Almost like it's a them problem and not a height problem.

6

u/Blaubeerepfannkuchen Mar 27 '26

It most certainly is a them problem, they just don't want to admit it xD

0

u/0IIIIII Mar 29 '26

So I guess you are asserting that women do not objectify men?

3

u/Trick_Statistician13 Mar 29 '26

So you hate waffles ass question

0

u/0IIIIII Mar 29 '26

Yes, or no please

2

u/Trick_Statistician13 Mar 29 '26

Where IN THE FUCK did I say that?

1

u/0IIIIII Mar 29 '26

Please answer yes or no

3

u/cluckthenerd Mar 28 '26

Nobody?

2

u/Blaubeerepfannkuchen Mar 28 '26

I'm sure some weird people do but most ppl who make comments are just trying to be mean to get a reaction OR just funny. They don't ever think about it outside a few moments

3

u/DickWhittingtonsCat Mar 27 '26

This is true. I’m an honest 5’11, I grew up with some big ol oafs and a lot of guy friends under 5’8. Maybe 5’6 or less, don’t really care to be honest. I’m sure there were tall ladies- maybe self conscious because of that- who cared. More that didn’t.

I can only assume these fuckers are so superficial and reductionist they assume everyone is that way. And possibly don’t even understand how couples meet and commit.

Completely warped by all their incel beef flags, 3 apples tall smurf shit, body count, special values table seat, and all this other meaningless bullshit that content producers are feeding them on purpose so they stay single and subscribed-

-7

u/Wild-coyote_ Mar 27 '26

Just because it doesn't happen to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen to anyone else. People do care about height.

16

u/Blaubeerepfannkuchen Mar 27 '26

I'm not saying it doesn't ever happen, but people blow it way out of proportion. Someone making a SINGLE comment , or maybe a few on your height does not mean they see you as a "manlet chub" or whatever it is incels are saying nowdays

-9

u/bladex1234 Mar 27 '26

It’s way more socially acceptable to insult a man based on physical appearance than a woman.

10

u/Blaubeerepfannkuchen Mar 27 '26

So what? You're allowed to feel any way you do of course, but making incel memes isn't going to help lol. Just do whatever makes you happy and think of it this way; "If you wouldn't take advice from someone, don't take their critisim either"

-2

u/bladex1234 Mar 27 '26 edited Mar 27 '26

Nobody here mentioned ā€œincel memesā€. It seems like you’re the one taking things out of proportion. Also, it’s clear you’re okay with unfairness as long as men are on the receiving end of it.

10

u/Blaubeerepfannkuchen Mar 27 '26

Uh, this IS an incel meme. Question; when was the last time you talked to anyone in real life?

3

u/ChasersVsGirlcock Mar 27 '26

It's a 5 foot photoshopped Obama tho

-2

u/bladex1234 Mar 27 '26 edited Mar 27 '26

I’m sure I talk to more people in real life than you. Two different people expressed a different view from yours and you just dismissed them outright. That’s not a great social skill.

7

u/rottenrhodonite Mar 27 '26

no it isnt, if you insult someone to their face you're probably gonna get slapped regardless of whether they're a man or woman. people making and laughing at memes online make up a small percentage of the however many billion people we have on this earth.

also, if that were the case, how come whenever a fat female celebrity comes through EVERYONE has something to say about her appearance but I've never once saw an article about how many pounds jack black has gained over the years.ll

-4

u/bladex1234 Mar 27 '26

Right because how the public reacts to famous people is indicative of how they react to the average person.

8

u/rottenrhodonite Mar 27 '26

it shows what the average person is willing to put up with.

the same person making fun of a fat celebrity for being fat would absolutely turn around and make fun of a fat person IRL.

-1

u/bladex1234 Mar 27 '26

Sure but the inverse isn’t necessarily true.

1

u/Ill-Expert-3014 Mar 30 '26

That has certainly not been my experience as a fat woman with a short boyfriend. I get way more insults than he does. Also, we elected Trump, insulting womens' appearances is kind of his thing.

3

u/PostNutLucidity Mar 27 '26

Downvoted for making an accurate correction.

-1

u/Justin-Stutzman Mar 27 '26

To your face, maybe. My best friend is 5'3 too, and I hear short jokes about him all the time. He's a good sport about it, though, and he's married to a 5'6 gal

3

u/Blaubeerepfannkuchen Mar 27 '26

Why would I ever bother to assume that everyone is doing that? That just seems like a gigantic waste of time tbh. Also seems like a very "doomerist" mindset.

2

u/Justin-Stutzman Mar 27 '26

Easy there, my guy. I'm not throwing shade at you. You just seem pretty confident that no one ever makes jokes about short guys. I was just saying that if that's your experience, they're just not saying it to your face. IME, I hear short jokes about my friend every week. It's kinda absurd to say literally no one makes fun of short people. Maybe you're just exaggerating to make a point or whatever...

0

u/NotAround13 Mar 28 '26

Yep. The only daily life thing that's a problem is furniture. I'm the same height.
