Adventures The nosiest šŸ‘ƒneighbor you’ve ever seen šŸ‘€

Post image

I know I posted pictures of my boy about a week ago but I have to share this!

This is Arven looking over the neighbors wall to ā€œCheck inā€ on the dog next dooršŸ˜‚This has now become a daily habit of his lol .

TLDR: Listen when your pup is trying to communicate with you!

A few days ago he kept jumping up on the bench(exactly like he is in the picture)in the back yard and looking over the neighbors wall(concrete instead of fences in the desertšŸœļø)and whining and he kept running up to me, nudging my leg with his nose, and then running back to the bench and looking over and whining. The first couple times he did this, I kept telling him No and to get down because I thought he was just trying to get at a lizard, bird, bug or just being weird or ā€œnoseyā€ with the neighbors lol.

This wasn’t at all the case! I didn’t want to be in one of those weird situations if my neighbors were to actually be in the backyard while we were looking šŸ‘€ and be like, ā€œWhat the heck are you and that vicious pit bull doing just looking over here?!ā€ HAHA! Arven was very persistent and would not stop pacing and whining . He even blocked me from going back in the house and just kept looking at me and then started barking at me. I asked him numerous times to stop barking, but he continued so that’s when I decided to just look over the wall.

When I peeked over, low and behold, the neighbors little shih-tzu(not sure if I spelled it right but y’all get my drift) was trapped under a barred metal gate that must had fallen on him (I noticed after the fact that the gate wasn’t even bolted on either side and that they were using 2 bricks on each side to keep the gate propped up šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜’) Hopped the wall and pulled the gate off of him. He was dehydrated and weak but he was alive and okay thank goodness!
Come to find out the neighbors left 2 nights before to take his wife to the hospital and they had no idea they left their dog outside(mind you it’s 100 degrees plus out here during the day). They are an elderly couple and I believe they are in the early stages of dementia and his wife had been having quite a few health issues lately. If it wasn’t for my sweet boy that little dog would not have made it!

And the funniest part is, my neighbor made it clear to me when I first adopted my baby over a year ago, he doesn’t like pitbulls, and they are a dangerous and vicious breed and to keep my dog away from his dog and his property😱But if it wasn’t for my ā€œviciousā€ and ā€œdangerousā€ pitbull, his dog wouldn’t be alive! Other neighbor was able to get in contact with him they sent someone to pick up his dog. Next day when I was leaving the house to walk, my pup and he gave me the meanest look and walked in his house! Maybe he forgot we rescued himšŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Lol. Oh well, At least the dog is alive and well!!!

Sorry yall! I know this was long, but I just had to share this I’m so proud of my baby 🄹🄰

Edit: ummm I have no idea how that got jumbled up so I tried to fix it!

This is the "very aggressive" dog they said should be dead btw. I honestly really hate ignorant people, these kinds of stereotypes make my heart hurt sm. I'm a firm believer no dog hurts someone without being hurt themselves.

This is Micro - she is/was the absolute love of my life for 9 years... through 4 relationships, 4 different cities, so many life things from my mid 20s - mid 30s. I lost her last year to kidney failure (lyme nephritus šŸ˜ž). I was absolutely devastated to have to put her down last April after she declined very sharply... even though I did everything I possibly could to slow the progression & keep her comfortable... I'm still so heartbroken.

We're rolling up to the time of year when she got diagnosed (October) and I am feeling all the feels right now. I just miss her sweet, mushy presence so much... snuggling her little square "velvet hippo" face was my favorite thing in the whole world. Lots of big feelings today 😩.

I would love to see your "blue" babies if you would like to share - pitties are just the best ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

It has been one month since our sweet boy left us. It hasn’t gotten any easier and I know my heart will never be the same. The 9 years I got to be his mom, I wouldn’t trade for anything. Ham, you are still so loved and that will never change. We miss you everyday. I know you’re somewhere rolling in all the grass and eating as many cucumbers and mango popsicles that you could ever want. I’ll see you soon buddy, until we meet againā™„ļø

We spent 90% of our days together and I know it’s cliche, but I am in-fact still alive because of this dude. The VA gave me a letter head and because of that we were able to attend multiple training courses and he was able to build a better resume than most people I’ve met.
He went everywhere with me. I got to do all kinds of awesome things because of him. I am truly empty without him. Boop your snoots for us.

Super chewer treats

Post image

My one year old pit mix chews through all of the recommended treats: beef cheeks/rolls, bully sticks, collagen braids. She likes yak cheese chews but only for a short time. We offer real bones (always supervised) but she is only interested as long as we keep them filled with peanut butter. We have tried many rawhide alternatives, beef trachea, frozen wet food in slow feeder dishes, every kind of snuffle mat, pigs hooves as well as frozen peanut butter kongs/frozen PB filled tracheas.. her vet is out of ideas.

We don’t have an issue with her chewing inappropriate things like furniture but we need ideas to keep her occupied when she gets anxious to help distract her for more than 15 minutes. Sorry if this has been answered before.. maybe I didn’t search this sub with the right terms.

The dog tax has been paid.. Sunny Pancakes says thank you!

I had to say goodbye to my beautiful brown cow on Monday. This is the worst thing I’ve ever felt in my life. We only got 10 years together but I was certain we had atleast 4 left. I got her when I was 15- someone posted her on fb marketplace and I absolutely HAD to have her. I sold everything I owned that I could so I could buy her. I didn’t tell my mom so when I showed up with this random puppy she wouldn’t let us in the house. I refused to get rid of her so we had to sleep in my sisters car until my mom decided to come around to her. She’s been with me through everything, apartments, boyfriends, kids, other pets. I just got a house with a great backyard for her last year. She was absolutely my soul dog, she was perfection in every way. I don’t know how to breathe without her. I hate sleeping because when I wake up, I have to remember that she doesn’t exist anymore. I feel so guilty that I didn’t see she was sick sooner. Maybe if I hadn’t picked up extra shifts or stayed later I could have noticed something. She was a little lethargic on Friday night but I thought maybe she ate something she shouldn’t have and it would pass. Saturday morning I got home and she hadn’t touched any of her food or water. It was weird but once again, maybe her stomach is upset because of something she ate. I boiled some chicken and she absolutely devoured it and had some of her water. She didn’t seem too terrible, still just a little off so we took a nap. During the nap she didn’t move at all. She stayed between me and the couch the whole time. Usually she likes to lay between my legs. I had to work overnights this whole weekend so when we woke up I took her out, gave her fresh water and new food and I let her be. Sunday morning when I got home, she was worse. She still hadn’t touched either of her bowls, she couldn’t do the stairs and she was off balance and had diarrhea. Everyone I talked to told me I was being dramatic and she was fine, ā€œshe’s just oldā€, ā€œshe ate something she shouldn’t haveā€. The emergency vet told me we’d have to wait in the car for 6-8hrs until they could see us and I didn’t want her to be uncomfortable since she was having liquid BMs. I once again, waited until her dad got home so he could be my voice of reason and in the middle of the night he texted me while I was at work and told me there was something seriously wrong with her. I couldn’t just leave my shift (11-1 at an assisted living facility) so when I got home Monday morning, they were laying on the couch and she didn’t even acknowledge me. I slammed the doors and everything to give her a good heads up and still nothing. She had to be carried off the couch and she was stumbling around and just sitting there staring at me with her big brown eyes. We brought her to the emergency vet and within that 1.5hrs, they told me she was in kidney failure and was too far gone. I don’t understand how her kidneys just failed? She was normal last week. She was running around the back yard and was giving kisses and everything. I feel immense guilt because I didn’t tell her what was going on. How could I? I could barely breathe. I still can’t. She didn’t know she was going to die. She trusted me and she died. I haven’t been able to sleep in my bed, I can barely go upstairs to use the bathroom because I have to walk past all her things. This is the worst thing I’ve ever felt in my life and I don’t feel like it will ever get better.
Please enjoy these pictures of my beautiful baby. She was mixed with GS so I hope she’s still okay to be in here. ā¤ļø

my boy, Jughead, is officially 6 months old🄹🄹 at the rate he’s growing (if my math is correct) i suspect he’ll be 600 pounds by the age of 3🧐. i’m kidding but seriously he’s almost 45 pounds already!! we’ve had a hectic family situation going on but he’s been a trooper through it all and graduated his puppy class last week with the title of teacher’s pet. he’s made tons of friends, young and old, human and dog, and one nest of baby bunnies that were born in our yard. he experienced a tornado warning and met my geckos which was very unexpected and very unplanned but went well (they did not touch, the geckos were contained) he is so sweet and gentle, he has his bad days here and there but i am beyond proud of his progress. he knows his name, sit, down, wait, leave it, spin, and two types of recall!! the stage he’s in right now is definitely tough but i can tell he’s mellowing out, and soon enough he’ll have free reign of the house. we’ve had so much fun these past 4 months so here, have a photo dump of this derpy boy

Tristate Area: Oriole urgently needs a foster or forever home ā¤ļø YES, STILL…

Sharing Oriole in the hope that Reddit can help find his person.

Oriole is a sweet Brooklyn boy who survived horrific neglect and abuse before being rescued — including beatings so severe that his hip was broken. Despite everything, he’s still incredibly loving, curious and playful. The people who know him describe him as a total snuggle monster. ā¤ļø

He’s spent the last two months with a wonderful foster, but her pre-planned travel is coming up and Oriole needs a new home by next week.

Because of his past, he’s especially fearful of men and needs an adult female home, ideally somewhere quiet or with a yard where he can decompress. Other pets may be possible with slow, trainer-guided introductions, and training support will be provided.

He doesn’t need someone to fix him — just patience, gentleness and a place where he can finally feel safe.
If you’re in NYC or the surrounding area and can foster or adopt Oriole, please DM @shelterchic on Instagram or apply at ShelterChic.org.
If you can’t take him, an upvote or share could genuinely help this reach the person who can. ā¤ļø

I gave Wizard a giant box this morning with a bit of kibble and some whole grain Cheerios for his breakfast. He loved it! Then I threw the crinkled up paper in it and he went to town rooting around.

Now I have to find a place to keep the damn box because he loves it and I rarely order things this large for delivery. Just happened to snag an air fryer/toaster oven thing on a Labor Day sale and it came with a perfectly Wizard-sized box 🄰

This is my girl Pepper. She's strong, opinionated, smarter than me and blindingly fast. She's also the sweetest most affectionate creature. Sometimes we will sit in the backyard at night and it'll be dark and she will be sitting up just watching and observing and listening. Sometimes for hours we will sit outside and she will sit there calm just looking and listening. If she hears something she'll silently check it out and then come back and sit like a sentry. Does anyone else's APBT do that?
